Literally watching this video using a Kyocera phone that cost me $45 with a prepaid Cricket 1 month contract. Used it for about 1 and a half years and am fine with it. More durable than an iPhone, has a fine screen brightness and the audio is surprisingly awesome. Two complaints are the memory size and processing power, but it was $45... So yeah

They compete with iOS, the reason why no android can ever replace the iPhone is because Android phones don't have as strong of an ecosystem as Apple has built with their computers, laptops, tablets, watches, tv and especially phones.
Android is 10 times better than apple. To do anything on an apple phone you need at least 10 fucking bungles that you'll lose in a week.

These phones are cheap but they don't last. I've had three in 18 months and they all gone wrong.
Not always true. I've been using my old moto for 5 years so far and it still works as if it was new. It's virtually indestructible, only reason I haven't bought a new one.

I made the stupid mistake of buying one of these cheap phones from a chinese supplier, it all started off fine but the phone would actually install spyware on itself after three or so months I even tested it to make sure I wasn't just being paranoid. There is always a catch with cheap devices like this and in the end given how much they can fuck with your life if you enjoy using your phone it can be extremely frustrating to deal with and you'd have been better off just saving up a bit more money to buy a low end ordinary branded phone.
Managed to get a christmas deal on the Sony XPeria L1 instead and I've been absolutely thrilled with it and I'm constantly using it, as long as you stick with the more well known brands you'll be safe I think, too many scammers on the lower end of the scale when it comes to mobile devices.
Ya for sure, that's why I said I'll stick with Motorola

This $58 smartphone from 2017 was much faster than almost any smartphone high-end smartphone from 2007.
Like the original iPhone I think gets gets a single-core Geekbench 4 score of around 90 while the first Android smartphone the "HTC Dream" from 2008 got around 80 I think. I think most high-end BlackBerry & Windows Phones at the time(since they where the dominant smartphones in 2007), would probably get around 60 too 95 on that benchmark.
This cheap $58 smartphone from 2017 would probably get around 200 to 400 on that same Geekbench 4 test. Almost any budget smartphone made 2015 or after would.
This 2017 $58 budget smartphone here is probably on par with a flagship smartphone from late 2011 & a midrange smartphone from late 2013 in terms of raw performance & most basic specs.

Almost every tech youtuber or programmer use a mac for their videos because of the quality and I know you were talking about phones but you said apple devices so the macs count.
Karan G Mate, engineering student here, half of the students using Apple are having problems because of lack of options or suitable lab simulators, ease to code...
Other than for video editing (and that is just because of software) unless you are rich and need few options there is no need to go Apple.

Rubertoe computer engineer here. Apple products are way better: more stable, more powerful, more reliable and they are based on Unix, which is essential for us. Remember we use it to work, not to game, which is a completely different thing (strong gpu + system optimization make gaming on windows way better).
