Exceptional video... It's December 28th out here in San Diego, California and I am about to undertake your suggested pruning technique on about a dozen Mexican Feather plants. Thank you so very much...:)
Thank you Catherine, very well done video!
From other videos and gardening experts in the UK they say not to cut Mexican Feather Grass, you should wear gloves and comb out the brown dead foliage which is removed easily. I have done this is early spring previously and they look majestic and big and strong throughout summer. I would only cut them back to base if they are getting to large for the area they are planted.
Thank you! My neighbors had this put in and did NOTHING. It's a mess, a hazard and I'm cutting it back to about 6" in July just to clean up the area so people don't fall. I hope that's OK. I really appreciate your post!
Great video! Thanks
Enjoyed your video, I learned something ! I made the mistake last year of cutting them at 6 inches. Very sorry I did.
very helpful
I'd divide the one dying in the middle personally great video thank you.
Nice!
I live in Dallas and the grass never really turned brown except at the tips so based on your recommendation so I cut back this grass as close to the ground as you showed?
We pruned one this year, but the center hasn't grown back. I'm trying to figure why.
I'm in Phoenix. I'm going to do this. It's still 105 here. My plants all turned brown. What temperature is best to cut back.
I live in New York. When should I cut my Mexican feather grass? March? Leave it all winter long?
It’s early March and I have new growth mixed in with old growth. Is it too late to cut it all back at this point?
I’d like to know the same thing. I’m in AZ high desert zone 8B and my grass never really goes totally brown always has green on it.
I live in the uk and have the same plant do i cut it back in january or febuary?
That's what I was wondering
@@djjuste8681 we don’t cut them to the base in the UK. Wait until late spring and just tidy them up by removing any dead bits. If you do it in winter or early spring, it will die.
What zone are you?
January is not spring it's winter where I live
