Pretty soon we are gonna have to have a discussion about where Gibbs ranks among the All-Time Greats. How many classic albums is this now? The man is on 🔥🔥🔥
Top 10 for me personally. I understand if you disagree but for me after listening to his music and development over the last 7 years (and he’s been rapping even way before that) he’s cemented in my favourites.
The guy talking at the end of God is Perfect is Gil Scott Heron. He was a 70s artist that was spitting rhymes over live instrumention before their was rap. He was a huge influence on Kanye who has sampled his work alot. His biggest song was Revolution Will Not Be Televised. Gibbs bar about genocide was a play on that song
Freddie Gibbs is easily one of the best rappers in the game right now. For the last 5-6 years he's dropped nothing but heat, and "Bandana" was the best album of 2019 hands down.
Heres an analogy for you bro: Madlibs beats are the equivalent of watching a short movie about an acid trip in the woods while running from lawn gnomes. Alchemists beats are the equivalent of watching a 4 year long TV series about Mob Bosses slowly taking over the city, assisted by amazing character development.

also to add to ur realization of why it’s called alfredo, back in 2018 alchemist, freddie AND curren$y released a tape called fetti which u should def check out, just bars and beats
he maybe dropped the line „don‘t cross me like isaiah“ not only as a wortplay about isiah thomas crossing people in basketball, but also because isaiah rashad once sampled the same song as freddie gibbs with „smile“ and gibbs didnt like it.. maybe i‘m reaching 🤷♂️ edit: freddies song was „sing for me“
Every Freddie Gibbs reaction is a gift. His growth from 2009 from now is about as developmental as Mac Miller - every album gets better because they are finding their sound, experimenting, and making sure they don’t become stagnant. Thanks JD for covering artists like this.
Major props for getting this out mid afternoon Jon. Love it. Great reaction and I'm looking forward to RTJ4 next week - don't believe you've done any RTJ yet so I'm hoping we'll see it!
The best representation of Tyler's more older style is wolf, it's an evolution of his projects before that and cherry bomb is it's own thing that you have to really get used to, would love to see a wolf reaction though
You are a legend! for getting this video up so shortly after listening to Piñata 🐐. What an album man, hope you have a great weekend enjoying this classic mate, I sure will be.
A few more listens and you’ll say it’s a 10 out of 10. At least that’s what happened for me. It seems everything Freddie and The Alchemist touch these days is absolute gold. They are truly grinding and dedicated to their craft, it shows in their works. Projects like this make me excited for rap and music in general. “Scottie Beam”, “Skinny Suge”, “Something to Rap About”. Peace.
When you realize that Gibbs and Conway were basically having a conversation with each other about life on "Babies and Fool" about handling situations foolishly and errors with relationships and raising their kids...track becomes even better.
The Scottie Beam bars were sooo ill. "Beam me up to Scottie" because of Scottie Beam obviously, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan comparison, and it is even a Star Trek reference. Absolute gold, man. When I heard that the first time I jumped out my seat
You should check out the Alfredo merch store as well if that's your kind of thing, I really like the designs they've gone for. Ordered myself a cap and t-shirt before I even put on the album this morning!
Freddie is one of the very rare few rappers that undeniably have no bad projects. Some are lacking compared to his other albums but they're still good albums
Gotta check out Gibbs - Shadow of a doubt. Not sure if it's one of the best received gibbs projects but its got some straight bangers including my all time fav freddie song - FREDDIE GORDY 🔥
I was late I’m sorry but i saw the rock reacts episodes! I fully understood you and the choice to separate from his negative spirit! You have a soul sir, you handle those episodes with true class to not expose a man you had respect for! Karma got you
The title is dope. What you said is true. Its a combination of names. But I THINK its also a nod to the character Frèdo from The Godfather., hence the strings. Also its alch and Freddie in control.
Didn’t watch this vid yet because I’ve been listening to so much music lately, I didn’t want to watch this until after I heard Alfredo. jesus was this a great project. one of the best I’ve heard in a while
Would love to see you react to Tyler's early work, I know it isn't as requested but I'm interested to see what you think espiecally as he's more rappededy rap.
Yo John! If you feel ready you should react to the new Ka album Descendants of Cain. Its rap on another level with other worldly instrumentals that, mixed with Ka's poetry, make the album AOTY imo
All Glass is easily one of my songs of the year, the production with Freddie's delivery and those GOD DAMN bars. Yeezys on but never went to Sunday service? Like Andre ain't fuck with Caroline? Put money in the church pot, nephew work for me got money in his church socks? Absolutely absurd.
its the quality and variation in instrumentation in this and the madlib albums that make them so good. The drums are never as loud or as key because the sampling and instrumentation is top tier
This album is so fucking great. Like it pains me that some of these guys just get false praise when dudes like this are out here creating pure fucking quality. I’ll keep my house next to the tracks the Kane Train rolls on with the windows down baby.
Pretty soon we are gonna have to have a discussion about where Gibbs ranks among the All-Time Greats. How many classic albums is this now? The man is on 🔥🔥🔥
Freddie gets better as his career goes on, sooner or later he is going to make an album with Premier
ILest.92 Gibbs is on a run of great albums since Piñata
@Jimmy Mac look up carry on by Gibbs and joey
Top 10 for me personally. I understand if you disagree but for me after listening to his music and development over the last 7 years (and he’s been rapping even way before that) he’s cemented in my favourites.

He was a huge influence on Kanye who has sampled his work alot. His biggest song was Revolution Will Not Be Televised. Gibbs bar about genocide was a play on that song

Genuinely Jon, if you give the Gil scot album pieces of a man a listen you will be blown away
@@thesongoflunch or Real Eyes, one of my favorite albums of all time

Freddie Gibbs still consistent

I like this project, it’s a fun listen. If you still haven’t jd, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE PRICE OF TEA IN CHINA by boldy and al.
Ar Cruz EXCELLENT Reccomendation
YES. He has to check out this project
Great shout, would love to see that
🔥🔥🔥 boldy james chill style on alchemist beat..just perfect
Al probably produced the 2 best albums of the year between Boldy and this.
Really happy that u appreciate Gangsta Gibbs so much, shows ur exquisite taste in music

Wow didn't know that. I like freddie but that's stupid to be mad at someone for using the same sample.
Also could be a bible reference. Cross, Isaiah. Wouldn't put it passed Gibbs to reference 3 things in one line.
That's a triple word play triple entandre.
Wasn’t it about the artwork?? What was the Freddie track called?
What was the Freddie song?
Edit: It was about Isaiah's artwork for Smile. Freddie thought he stole the idea from his artwork for "10 Times"
18:45 😂😂😂 “I could have been listening to Little YOTTY”

"Frank Lucas" would be my favorite here.
I think Alchemist sampled a fart for that song

In other terms we need more Earl period.

The WORKRATE of this channel! Insane Jon, you are blessing our quarantine!
I'd like to see a Mobb Deep reaction!
Start with:
Mobb Deep - The Infamous (album)
Mobb Deep - Hell On Earth (album)
The Scottie Beam bars were sooo ill. "Beam me up to Scottie" because of Scottie Beam obviously, Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan comparison, and it is even a Star Trek reference. Absolute gold, man. When I heard that the first time I jumped out my seat
Please can we get a roc Marciano review, you’d love him if you love griselda/Freddie content, another artist in that lane for you to explore 🙏🥺
this album has been on repeat for me. I love it so much

Alchemist dont miss and his releases this year back it up, LULU, Price of Tea in China. those loops crazy man
Yes Lawd. This was a mad fast reaction.
That joint with Benny is my shit, as grimy as they come

"It wasn't a big spider but it came right into my area" lmao I feel you bro
New sub, absolutely love that you're expediting this new gibbs/alc heat. You're holding it down, big ups!
Also with the album cover calling back to The Godfather it’s possible “Alfredo” is also a reference to the actual character in the trilogy.
Did the same thing with the new Lil Yachty lmao. There are some good bangers but most of the bars are like ?????
Nah, alot of fire bars, you just need references and a bit more knowledge of my man Gibbs.
