Thanks for watching. It isn't the best tasting but it isn't bad either. People throw it under the bus expecting a Hass flavor which I understand too but I like variety.
Thanks for the video. With an extremely limited city-sized yard, I might consider grafting a Zutano onto a Fuerte, along with a Bacon or Pinkerton to round out a nice winter harvest avocado tree. Plus, those seeds are ideal for growing and grafting onto.
How does it compare to Bacon? I've noticed that with some varieties if you don't like the flavor all you need to do is leave it on the tree longer. Try picking three or four Zutanos still on the tree and discipline yourself to leaving them on the tree another month and see what it does for the quality of the fruit.
I just made a video with Bacon and Zutanom. The difference isn't huge but sometimes Bacon can have some nuttiness to it which doesn't usually happen with Zutano. I completely agree on letting them hang. Unfortunately they are picked early when the nice looks perfect.
Great video, Greg. Nice description of each. Now I know what to look for when hunting for these varieties. Thanks

Yeah, a friend turned me on to grafting to Bacon seedlings and they are excellent and easy to graft to as well as Zutano of course.
