Who else here after the crash? Seeing Newman win this was incredible.
6 Dodges finished in the top 10.
This is actually one of my favorite pieces of FOX announcing involving these three. Along with daytona 1998, all star 2009 or aarons 499 2013. I just love the amount of energy these three (specifically larry) had here.

I came here after I heard the news about Newman's crash, the first race I ever watched.
Win still gives me chills.

When he came of the turn I got flashbacks +I am a Ryan Newman fan so I balled when he crashed
I watched this race in 2008 when i was in hospital....had the best time that day!!!means alot
I was the biggest ever Newman fan when I was a kid, I had his jacket and i was staying at my aunts during this race and for some reason it aired 5 minutes before at my parents house and they asked me if I was watching at the time I wasn't but it got turned on and I didn't know the ending and I can remember how excited I was. Will always be a Newman fan.
After today's nasty wreck, I'm glad to hear he's OK and I can look back at this

Even though I've never been a Stewart fan. I'm still sad he never got to win the 500. He came so close a few times.
He finally won the Daytona 500 in 2017 with Kurt Busch, but as a car owner with Gene Haas, then nearly did it again this year with Almirola.
Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace both never did either. Nearly 200 wins between them. The Daytona 500 is a lottery race these days. If Trevor Bayne and Derrike Cope can win, anyone can.
@@AlonsoRules Mark Martin won 40 Cup races, Rusty Wallace won 55 Cup races, for a total of 95. Even though they never won the 500, they did win The Clash in 1998 & 1999. Mark was able to get two plate wins at Talladega in 1995 & 1997, Rusty never won a plate race (best was 2nd in the 2002 Pepsi 400 at Daytona).
All the people saying why didn't Tony stay high?. It's easy to be a monday morning quarterback. In that moment, you have literally a split second to make a decision.

For two and half laps he stuck with Ryan Newman, also a native Hoosier. Kyle would have kept Newman from making a move, and I think Newman would have been satisfied with pushing Stewart to the win. I mean Newman was shoving the crap out of the 20, and the next year who would have thought that when Stewart went to his own team, Newman would be hired?! Two Brickyard 400 wins aren't too shabby. When Rodney waved that white, I was shouting COME ON TONY, IT'S ALL YOU!

There was really nothing Tony could do because if he jumped to the high side with the run Newman had they all would've wrecked and Kyle Busch would've won the race. So let's just be thankful it was Newman
+Jack Johnson I don't know, 'cause Stewart already looked like he was in front of Ryan. Still, Newman had the run, so Newman probably would've won either way, but one can only wonder.
I can imagine Stewart coming down to block Kyle Busch, then swerving back to block Newman and that lane. Newman would have moved low with the push Kurt Busch gave him and block Kyle. Newman would have lost the momentum, Kurt pushes Stewart into 3 with Kurt side by side with his teammate, and Newman and Kurt would not have had enough help, and Tony Stewart wins the 50th Daytona 500 by getting a push from both lanes on his bumpers. Just want to note that Jeff Burton completely choked the final restart, he didn't even get going and finished back in 12th-13th.
Was on the front stretch between the Start Finish and turn 1... So glad I made the trip to Daytona!
I watched this race with such excitement when Stewart captured the lead late, only to then be met with disappointment as the two Penske drivers--Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch--drove by him and relegated him to a third-place finish. Stewart would go on to say that this was one of two Daytona 500s that he still can't fully get over. Tony, I feel you. As a fan of yours, it's hard to watch to this day.

That's why I never watch it alone. I usually watch with some friends, and we just talk about random stuff and watch the race at the same time. It may not be 100% focused, but it works.

6 Dodges finished in the top 10, followed by 2 Toyotas, 1 Chevrolet and 1 Ford. Had Bobby Labonte finished 10th, there would've been 7 Dodges in the top 10.
How bout Harvick finished this thing on 7 cylinders. Hanging on to the pack. Hell yeah

2 missed opportunities,
One huge heartbreak.
Newman, along with many other drivers, are sadly very underrated. If Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, etc. were running towards the back, they'd keep talking about them. If Newman or Waltrip or someone were to be running in the top 5 and having a really good day, they wouldn't talk about it very much. It's sad.
Its about damn time they started to perform...
2003 vs 2020 was the scary flips Ryan Newman had as last year he would’ve had 2 Daytona 500 wins besides 2008. But thankfully he’s alive still,
2008 was my second season of watching Nascar on UA-cam not TV.

Larry and Mike did a great job calling this race but DW should not be on TV. Notice how DW refuses to say Dodge and the excitment in his voice when Kyle or Tony move up " Toyota Drag Race, Toyota Drag race" but when its clear the Dodges are going to win, DWs voice changes to dissapointment. The announcers should not be biased or actual team owners....!! Nascar needs to correct this in order to bring the ratings up and get fans back in the stands. Leave your Toyota shirt home DW
The 2013 Daytona 500 is gonna look exactly like this race.
Kyle Busch was on the inside though, as DW said "Toyota Drag race down the back" so who knows?

Why did Tony Stewart dive to the inside on the last lap on turn three? He gave Ryan the high line and that's all she wrote. Congrats Ryan !!!

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't Ryan Newmans car Deemed illegal after the race? Wasn't there an artical saying some portion of the rules were broken on his car? someone who really knows Nascar Hollar and let me know.
tony stewart is like dale earnhardt of the daytona 500, he can win races, championships, but has bad luck every year in the 500.

No mystery why so many Dodge's (Newman, Busch, Sorenson, Sadler and Kahne) in the top 10 this race with that million dollar bonus put up by Dodge for a Daytona win.
Me thinks some dodge strategy was at play when that bottom lane got a run and then lost it after Stewart made the move.

stewart went low thinking he'd get a team-mate push to the win. and actually you're wrong-Pete Hamilton won the pole, his 125 qualifier, and the 500 in 1970. driving the #40 Plymouth SuperBird wingcar. Sunday was a great day for Chrysler corp.
