Beautiful and of course she could act! After all she had to endure all the creeps in Hollywood that couldn’t keep their hands to themselves and still smile. No wonder she always had to take a bath after one of these encounters, and this is them restrained because they are on camera in the 1950s. That bit in the skit about the movie mogul Darryl Zanuck was probably true. Still, she was hilarious! She was a real triple threat, could sing, act, dance. She just loved her craft and made the ultimate sacrifice for it too. God rest her sweet soul.
I loved that Darryl Zanuck skit as he caused her so much stress, initially he said she had nothing to offer , then when he realised he was wrong , he tried to control her , trying to force her to lie about the nude pictures taken when she was broke , he made her make the film “something’s got to give as Coleoptera was costing fox millions over budget , he insisted that she had a obligation to fox for one last movie , she looked stunning in the test shots yet she was obviously not well , she was v underweight & was sacked then rehired … the big studios were going bust due to the start of the tv revolution & they should of capitalised on her singing happy birthday for jfk , publicist wise instead they sacked her & fined her half a million …
7:08 is the absolute best when she breaks character and truly laughs. She does it every now and then-every so slightly- like an improv actor who loses it for a moment. So endearing and charming. ❤️

In the footage here it looks like Marilyn was genuinely enjoying herself with both Ken Murray and Jack Benny. Marilyn and Jack Benny were a great combination and, from what I've read, were friends off-camera. Fun fact: In the comedy sketch that takes place on the deck of a ship there is a lifeboat that has "S.S. Lurline" painted on it. There really was a liner called the Lurline, named after LurlIne Matson. The Matson Line operated out of California and in the Pacific.

She was so pretty. Actresses today can only wish with all the botox available to them. Plus it's so obvious that she was smart and witty... look at how she plays along in her own charming way... Critics and people in general were real dumb those days who considered her to be a dumb blonde coz the way she created that persona. All I see is charm and wit and a certain polite sarcasm... and I only recently started watching her movies. She was one of a kind. I'm sure people were either jealous of her or were too dumb to recognize her unique charisma.

Both Merlyn Monroe n James Dean died at very young age otherwise they both would have been super legends of Hollywood.
daxa shah James Dean had such a huge impact. He only made 3 films, and the 3rd was released posthumously. He’s achieved icon status, but I think with a longer career he’d have been a legend like Marlon Brando. Marilyn was more than the dumb blonde, and her work in The Misfits, and her unfinished film Something’s Got to Give would’ve had her playing a wife and mother. I wish that she could’ve lived longer. They’ve both achieved icon status. Only the good die young.
