Glad you're OK, bud, but three dumb points to consider: 1) No life vest (the camera only helps confirm cause of death) 2) Reaching out, from boat (Any boat) 3) Nothing on boat Designed, to help you get back in. (ladder, hand rails, whatever)
Man i had a boat accident where i crashed with my eyesocket on a pillar. Broke it at 3 places and fell i very cold deep water afterwards. I had no cable on my wrist that would stop the boat so the boat was spinning in circles after 3 failed tries to climb back in the boat. I also almost got hit by the propellor 2x. I decided to swim 30 meter to shore where i could hang at the side of a boat lucky people where coming to me to pull me out of the water!
I’ll never forget one year a group of us got together for a small tournament in the middle of the winter….it was actually snowing and I had snow on the deck of my bass boat….I stepped on the trolling motor pedal thinking it was going left and it went right….if not for grabbing the pedestal seat at the last second I was definitely headed into the water. Scared the daylights out of me.
Scary Stuff. Thanks for sharing, I think a lot of us wonder how to get back in the boat if we fall out. May want to invest in a comfortable life vest, let's hope there won't be next time. Good to see you're OK.
I've been professionally bass fishing since I was 19 years old. It was early March on the Connecticut River, the air temp. was in the low 40's and so was the water temp. I had a lot of layers on plus Duck boats. My dad and I was fishing Seldon's Creek, a small tributary that flows off the river then cuts back onto the river a mile or so south. There's a section of sheer cliff that goes straight into 20 feet of water. I was kinda paralleling a Bill Norman crankbait with a blue back and chartreuse sides that had a lot of metal flake in the finish. I accidentally made a cast into a small tree growing out of the cliff close to the water level. So I nosed our Stratos 201 Pro straight into the cliff face to retrieve my crankbait. As I reached out over the trolling motor to grab my bait a treble hook snatched me in the wrist, I yelled and my dad lurched from the rear deck to me on the bow of the boat and knocked me into 20 feet of water with him in on top of me. The last thing I remember is looking up once I was in the water and I saw the bottom of my dad's feet. The top of my head was instantly about 7 feet deep. The next thing I remember is grasping onto the cliff in the water and looking over my shoulder seeing my dad struggle in the freezing cold water to grasp the side of the boat. On his last dich attempt he grabbed the gunnel and was able to reach up, hit the power on the trolling motor pedal and troll to the opposite shore where it was shallow and sandy. He hoped in the boat then came across the creek to fetch me. The 3 or 4 mile run back to Salmon River boat launch was horrific. That was a reminder to always wear your PFD when it's really cold and you're out fishing. That was my first near death experience while bass fishing. If you watch the Billy Joel music video for the song River of Dreams which is about the Connecticut River there's a rope swing directly over the cliff where I almost drowned. There's a scene in the video of someone swinging out on that swing. The actual spot I almost died is in that music video, look it up sometime. Life is crazy!
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen this happen when fishing flooded timber! I have helped pull more than one person out of the water because they pushed off of a dead tree.
Now do that in Jan in 30 degree temps and on top of that a twenty minute ride back to the ramp. I can tell you it sucked. Lost my wallet and my glasses. What a nightmare trip.
That falling branch that hit on the deck of the boat could have been deadly, he could have fallen on a stick up, lot of ways this man could have been sent to the promise land. Personally I’m glade things worked out for him.
Bill Dance would be proud brotha!!!!
@crazycooterMN 😂😂😂
You put way to much trust in that twig my friend. Lol.
Been there done that!!Love it. We gotta be careful out there bro. Be safe!!
I’m more shocked he didn’t lose his Crocs, and the hubs weren’t even locked in!
I was trying to catch a glimpse of you on the livescope! 😂 Stay Safe Brother!

To much technology in the boat 😂
Or just swim to the back of the boat and just use the cavitation plate as an emergency ladder and climb back in. So much easier
This is supposed to be comedy. Don't wreck it with logic.
Never grab shit out of the boat grandpa's first rule
Glad it wasn’t any worse!! As always stay safe, tight lines, and stick your PB!!
This is the move I usually pull😂
Glad you’re ok
Do you have enough screens to fish in 5ft of water?
WOW, you are lucky, out there all alone, and you want to go swimming. BE SAFE.
Who needs live scoop when you have your attention to detail 😂 but for real glad you didn’t get to banged up sir
Did you step on troller motor to get back up??
A lot to be learned from this. Thanks for sharing!
I would be diving back in the water after that rod!! Glad you're okay brotha!

I'm so glad you weren't hurt!
Glad you didn’t hit your head brother, tight lines!!
Man, you were lucky that the top of that tree didn’t hit you in the head! Glad you’re safe.

More embarrassing than life threatening but thanks for the laugh at your expense. I’ll give you a follow for that.
Near death yea… lol😂😂😂😂😂

Did you ever find your rod
Nice Crocs
What was the near death experience?
But did you find your rod?
Any damage to the lid after the tree top speared it?
Still waiting for the near death experience lol 😂
keep watching from your parents basement! probably scared to go outside😂
That gator was like 5 ft away

Did you stand on your trolling motor to get up? Pretty smart. Was it ok?
Yes, I used my Ultrex as stairs...worked great. Never thought of it before, but it was right there.
Glad you’re ok. Hopefully you can look back and laugh.
😂😂😂😂
Yeah that was a bad idea
I’m sorry. Near death???😂
Being a dope doesn't equal near death
Rod fell right at the base of that tree. 🤣
That tree is dead, I would t grab it😂😂
Lol. Oh myy.
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen this happen when fishing flooded timber!
I have helped pull more than one person out of the water because they pushed off of a dead tree.
Glad you didn't wear your life vest or we wouldn't have seen the bootom of the river. I wonder what you looked liked on the live scope.😂
my thoughts exactly
What, no gator?
Is it crocodile infested waters? Bcoz where you fell into is totally not death threatening.
Now do that in Jan in 30 degree temps and on top of that a twenty minute ride back to the ramp. I can tell you it sucked. Lost my wallet and my glasses. What a nightmare trip.
😮😮😮😮😮
What was near death?
I have the same question, you just fell in the water.
It's not the water. It's the falling tree and the water.
Near death?
Clumsy if u ask me!
The most impressive thing is not even a single cuss word. I would have been swearing up and down. Glad you came out good though.
Those 3 huge graphs on your deck probably didn't help
Glad u ok but that was funny not near death
That is why a person doesn’t go by thierself
Near death was that the tree could have landed on his head…big gulp of water…whatever.
Tryin hard but no
Stick to the lakes
The river ain’t for you if you think
That was bad
You fell in 8 ft max of water. You were nowhere near death
dumb. you can drown in inches of water.
There have been cases where people have drown in a puddle.my guy its not hard to hit head or something just go wrong
You can drown in 12 inches my guy 🤦🏽♂️
Any Florida water way this is near death experience

😳🫤😳 😱 wtf did he just get defeated by a twig/toothpick?
🤣🤣🤣
