    I grew up watching Adrian Street in Continental wrestling. Man this one hurts. He said one time about his depression that he was asked why he never committed suicide. His response was I like pissing people off to much. I live by that moto. And please believe he was a true bad ass. You didn't want to cross him. R.I.P to the Exotic One. You will live in my heart till my last breath.

    Adrian was a great character, a very talented wrestler, I met him once at a motorway service station where I was working at the time, it was while he was wrestling & he was a real gent with all the staff. RIP Adrian.

    He worked that gig harder and better than anyone else possible could. As a naïve pre-teen and then teenager watching CCW wresting in Montgomery when he came in as a heel, of course I was repulsed by him (feuding with Wendel Cooley) but then he did his (totally unexpected) face turn and destroyed the Fuller Stable I was at first reluctantly cheering for him and then he became one of my favorites. And, of course, when it came out that he beat the crap out of Jimmy Saville he became even more of a fav. RIP, tough guy!

    That was a very well put together tribute to a wonderful man who gave his heart and soul to his craft and his wrestling character and he will be sorely missed. RIP Adrian Street and sincere condolences to his family, friends and all those that loved this great man.

    I remember when he visited that little girl in the hospital. I think he was a heel at the time. This was the kayfabe era, and I was wondering why would anyone want to meet him?! They televised part of the visit on a local news station, and it changed my opinion of him. He was a real class act. Not long after he became a babyface down here in Florida, and despite the era we were living in this guy in makeup really blew up in popularity! Damn good wrestler. May he rest in peace.

      He later admitted in an interview that he dragged out the match for as long as possible so he could really hurt Saville.

      @RobwLPOC Рік тому +9

      @@carlhague9102Adrian also mentioned in one interview that if he had known what he knows now about Jimmy Savile, he would have beaten the guy off the face of the planet not just out of the wrestling business

      @RobwLPOC Рік тому +9

      Even if a person is not a fan of professional wrestling or a fan of the fact this guy used the gimmick he did to get fans to hate him... the fact he beat the ever-loving s*** out of Jimmy Savile is reason enough for anybody on the planet to love the guy.

    I met Adrian when he was wrestling at Bletchley Leisure Centre 38 yrs ago when I was 17. My friend and I were trying to get big and strong using the weights and no one had a clue. We asked a staff member to get Adrian to come and give us some advice and he did. He spent about 45 mins teaching us the basics before he had to get changed and smash his opponent . He was kind and a great guy. R.I.P Adrian.

    I've only just learned of his passing, and my heart sank. Tough talented wrestler, with a natural show biz persona, but also a funny and caring man away from the ring. I was too young to remember him (born in 74), but have watched many of his bouts from old clips and recordings. 15000 matches is absolutely phenomenal!

    Got to know him & his beautiful wife Miss Linda about 10 years ago when they were living in Florida & I ordered custom wrestling trunks for a friend of mine from them; I couldn't believe I was actually talking to them on the phone! Told him he was always one of my favorite wrestlers; he replied "You have excellent taste!" What great people- had great talks everytime I ordered more gear for my buddy! RIP Champ!! I'd heard from his own voice in an interview as to why he adopted the gimmick.
    His initial goal was to emulate Buddy Rogers but his appearance would get the British wrestling fans heckling him with a couple of them mocking him saying, "How about a kiss, Mary" and a couple other taunts/insults.
    He saw that he'd riled them up and after giving it a little thought, decided to double down and the rest is history.
