Hi Frank, when I plug my camera in this app takes the photography functionality away from the camera itself, and uses the app instead. Can you just use the app to preview photos you've just taken through the viewfinder? When I plug the iPad in it shuts the viewfinder down so I can't take photos through the camera anymore.
This app litterally saved my life, I purchased it thanks to your video and never regretted. The only problem I would like to solve, you probably have a solution for that, is that if I connect my Sony alpha 7iiir to the ipad, the camera uses the battery of the ipad. Is there a way to keep using the camera battery during a wired connection? This way I could avoid my ipad dies after 3 hours shooting😅 thank you
It is on the list so it should work Does it work on other software (desktop) Make sure to check Usb settings on the camera that it's using USB tethering and not harddrive mode for example.
@FrankDoorhof in the camera, it shows the mtp/ptp, which I select as ok. I don't know if I need a different cable....? It should work with the USB-C to lightning, but it is not. I deleted the app and reinstalled it. Turn off the IPad. The same issue is like they don't see each other.
You say USB to lighting as in a direct convertor ? Don't think that works. The new ipads with usbc should work without any convertors What sometimes works on the older ipads is the camera Connection kit which also has a USBA port but it is supposed to be different from a usbc to lighting convertor
The cable block is my own product. You can order it from frankdoorhof.com/shop or some shops in the Benelux. They retail for 35.00 The cable im using is IQ-wire www.iqwire.nl If you have any questions feel free to drop me an email.
Hello my friend. I have been watching your videos along the way and really do enjoy how you present the pros and honest cons in your reviews. Quick question, please. I am a Sony A7iii and A7IV mirrorless shooter and am using Cascable and even Capture One for Sony and cannot seem to tether wired to my new Ipad. All camera setting (PC Remote on, etc). Question is MUST wored tethering be done on an iPad that ONLY has a USBC port? My new iPad uses a lightening cable cord. I would hate to have to return this one and pay double this price for a Ipad Pro with USBC port just to tether wired. Thanks for your time. Huie D. Bay Area, California.
Hi As far as I know it works on the new ipads with usbc. You could try the camera connection kit from apple. Best is to contact cascable via Twitter. They respond fairly quick. Keep us updated and thanks for the remarks :)
@@FrankDoorhof Aah...okay. I just tried the Apple Lightening to Digital AV adapter...failed. Also tried using a HDMI cable-Failed! Soo...my belief (although I will try them on Twitter) is that the iPad must have a USB C port. Which, unfortunately means an Ipad Pro version. Oh my...$700+ for a monitor?! Hmm...oh well. I will update if anything new is found. Thanks so much for responding!!😊👍🏾
I think you confuse a few things. Tethering is not done via av or HDMI. It's done via USB. So if it would work you need a camera connection kit. So from the camera with usb to usb. Also remember that cascable needs to be bought to support wired tethering.
For Android i experimented with some solutions and although it worked it was more a put together solution. So I never really used that Maybe now there are complete solutions but for tethering I prefer the iPad due to the apple pencil and battery life vs lichtoutput. My phone is still android ;)
Absolutely. But you have to be sure to update the firmware and on some r series disable charging over usb. We have several customers shooting with the 10 meters version on the canon R
Hoi Frank, Top video!
Hi , i just used cascable on a shoot and i was wondering how do you export your images and ratings to Lightroom on a pc,from the ipad , i did use another storage device attached and got the images on that device but no ratings , oh and im using a sony a7r4, thanks for any help
Hey frank, definitely going to check out the plate, been looking for one. Quick question, when on location, how do you deal with power while connected to the iPad? Shoot until it dies or have you come up with a hub with extra ports you can power the iPad through while tethered? Appreciate the video, thanks!
In the studio we charge the iPad via the hub. There are several hubs that have two ports for USBC. One for charging and one for HDDs/tethering. On location I never ran out of power. But you could use a powerbank on that port without issues.
Which country are you in ? I mostly just look on Amazon and order one that has two USBC ports with one clearly labeled charging. There are a few out there but sure bets are hyper and owc. Although they are more expensive. Mine was app 75 euros and is a standard brand. It's not really that unique just make sure one port is labeled charging.
@@FrankDoorhof thanks so much. I think that’s where I went wrong. I got one for my MacBook and it was labeled charging. And camera wouldn’t tether. I have another one coming soon. I’ll go with hype if this one don’t work. Thanks for all your help!
Hello Frank and others reading this. I try to connect my lumix s5m2 to an ipad pro. Both in Lightroom and Cascable it says it can't read the card in the camera. I have formatted the card in the camera and tested the tether-cable and the camera in my imac and it works using Lumix Tether. So I wonder if anyone can have a solution to this problem. Is my camera so new so it's not supported yet?
Did you check the compatibility list on the cascable site ? Also the free version doesn't support wired tethering. So always check the list before buying.

Hey Frank just say you need to charge your iPad is there a way to do that while using it?
Absolutely. We use a dongle that has 2 usbc inputs, hdmi some other connectors ;) it charges the iPad and camera
Finally I found somebody with a solution !! And Vorrecht me if I am wrong, but the App is free of charge now.
Only for wireless it's free. Cascable wired is the paid version.

That's weird and not normal.
Unless you're in live view mode probably.
I just use it to tether. You see the filmrol and if showa the images coming in.

No idea for new versions.

Wireless tether possible with camera to ipad
That has been possible for a long time with a lot of camera's. Often you need an app from your camera or a wireless transmitter
