I love my H3. It gets the job done here in South Dakota and it's an off road monster. Climbs hills, rock crawls and pushes through 2' of snow. Hummer - Like Nothing Else!
I own the 2007 Hummer H3 adventure... I spend a lot of time off the main roads. The Hummer gives me all I need and a little more when it comes to carrying supplies and gear in the back. I like the FJ, but I needed more than it could offer.
The H3 comes with 4.56 axles, will take 35's stock, and with an adventure package offers 4:1 t-case, the FJ has its cookies tucked better, has better transmission options, a better engine (more torque, unless compared to the H3 alpha), and a much better aftermarket for lifts/upgrades. Both look great from the outside but have poor visibility from the inside out. Both are available with rear lockers, but the H3 also got a front locker in its last 2 years of production for adventure package models. Aired down with the front sway disconnected they both ride smooth offroad unlike depicted in this video. The H3's stance and heavy anti-sway-bars gives it pretty good on-road handling for a leaf and torsion sprung vehicle but the FJ will ride nicer on road. They both get terrible gas mileage. They are both far nicer to live with than a jeep for everyday driving but jeeps can be built up to be far more capable off road.
I owned a 2008 FJ Cruiser for a very long time until it was totaled in an unfortunate accident a few months ago, now I own a 2008 H3 and while I personally prefer the aesthetics of my H3 I will always miss the feel of my old reliable FJ. I haven't had problems with the Hummer yet but I know that the FJ was built to last but I'm not too sure about the H3. RIP to the old FJ and thanks for being there for me for so long.
@MysteriousOklahoma , mine is a 06 and it's my everyday driver. Around my area there are a few, not many. But it gets me where I want. And it also made my son's mother, ex-wife#2, mad😁
Trumpet Friday watch out of fender bulge before I bought the one I have now I looked at one that had a fender replaced. I could tell because the gaps didnt line up and it was missing its vin. Try and go for a 10-14

They have one of the worst off road capability ratings. And also one of the most problematic engines. Probably the worst wanna be looking offroad vehicle out there as well. Who puts chrome on an offroad car?? Thats right... it's not..
I am a toyota rep and unfortunately if they put a wrangler vs fj it would be a more fitting comparison. If you've ever driven an fj cruiser the visability Is terrible, there is no room in the back seat, the ''rear doors'' are useless, but the ride is smooth both on and off road, the power of the hilux derived 4.0 vvti v6 is fantastic, the off road ability is simlar to a 2 door wrangler and the interior is practical. If you get a series 2 then the long range fuel tank is excellent for those of us In Australia with long distance driving. For our market it would be a tuff choice between a diesel wrangler and the fj which unfortunately is only available in petrol auto.
I love the FJs especially for their looks but when it came down to buying a 4X4 I opted for the Nissan Xterra. It can do anything the FJ can do but with four full sized doors and much better visibility it was just the more practical choice.
I have both cars! My H3 is the alpha edition v8. I can tell you h3 is better in off-roading capabilities it just needs lift kit and big offroad tires. Fj requires less maintenance ...
Sweden. Split, the h3 is just awsome, the FJ works runs . Looks a little to cutie for me. The milage honestly is equal. Hummers adventure package gives advantages with diff locker. Great riggs both of them
Who’s here in 2019? I love Japanese cars but the FJ has two major issues working against it for me: first is the used pricing today. The FJ is still considerably more expensive to purchase while the H3 is a total steal right now. Second is that the FJ has awkward rear doors, the four regular doors are essential for maneuvering baby in and out the back 👶🏼! Though I understand why Toyota designed the doors that way for that retro 2-door defender styling.
Because TOYOTA stopped making them so the nuts have made them collector vehicles now. Most here in California have super high miles because they’re daily freeway fliers never seeing dirt. The real off roaders don’t like them for reasons you stated. Hard to work with when out and about. I watch too many off-road videos. I was watching this video because of an H3 for sale by me fully loaded in excellent shape and again a daily freeway flier just to look good going down the road. Never been off-road and stored in garage for the last 12 years with only 140,000 miles.
@@myrrhavm thanks for your reply. The H3 and H2 are no longer made either though! Yet they're not collector vehicles really. Still a great value now while it lasts.
@@BIMMERZEITT . Another seemingly hot off road vehicle is the Lexus GX 470. Sell relatively cheap for what they are and their differential setup. Many ignore them because they don't look tuff. Or more like where it can't go without being four wheel drive. I'm no nut, just know capabilty of me and vehicle. Seems anything 4x4 today is hot. Extremely strong fully boxed hydro formed "hummer only" frame, 300 hp all aluminum v8 and best approach and departure angles in its class. The just fj looks like a lifted minivan.
Real off-road enthusiasts do not care about resale and will only concern themselves with performance, so this video has little to do with the way the average person would make a decision. The FJ is enticing because of its more reasonable price, regardless of its lesser quality interior. Ultimately stock for stock, the Hummer wins, but no off-road enthusiast keeps these things stock.

GM is a super shitty company who needs to learn how to build a higher quality vehicle.FACT. Overall I LOVE my Hummer. It gets tons of looks and compliments and it can go pretty much anywhere. It has ample room and good MPG. It holds it's value well and is a smooth ride. I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

You really don't need either of these unless you have to climb rock clifts and pass thru raging streams to go to the store for a loaf of bread. I have an FJ but I really don't need that capability but it feels a little secure that i have it, just in case. That helps justify it. haha! Makes no sense really. I just have always wanted one.
FJ was the choice for me and I test drove both before buying. I'm very happy ! It's been two years and I still haven't gotten the lift and bumpers like I promised myself I would do within a year, but that's life for you I suppose. Love the FJ tho! It's true, great ride on and off the road ~
I've really enjoyed my FJ for the last two years, but I guarantee those H3s at the mall are easier to get a family out of than my FJ with the suicide doors...seriously!
I've driven both and have worked on them both. Fj is much nicer to drive and in my opinion better looking. And when you get underneath them 10 out of 10 times the fj needs much less work as far as leaks and what not go. So from an outside source who doesn't own either of these cars I'd go with the FJ 100% not to mention you get the reliability of a toyota over gm garbage.
A 2009 2010 hummer with the locking front and rear differentials will smoke the FJ. And go watch a video of an FJ breaking tie rods. And not to mention you can get a small block V8 in the alpha as well. Get some real world experience offroad with both and you'll choose the hummer.
i like the h3 as usual i like all gm cars the h3 is more luxourious and more offroad capable than the fj i think the fj is much more cheaper designed than the hummer
the hummers a lott of people like them but i dont when i was in the miltary my capt and liut were in a pair of the and i was in a cutv or blazer if you will the two hums got burried in the mud i had to pull them out and then went through where they had been stuck
The Hummer is a bummer. The FJ Cruiser is the bruiser. I don't own either one. It's only meant to be a joke cause it rhymes. I will take my intergalactic Hexachromon 8x8 over these anyday. I just need to find my holographic keys first. Now where did I put those darn keys?

Alpha h3 v8 with diff lock etc is way to go if buying h3
I have these both cars but I like hummer h3 more than thr cruiser
no that cruiser is not a match for the Hummer, cause it even can't decide it is "F" or it is "J" :D
Which vehicle would you like to be seen in??? Hummer wins every time !!
Too bad most are in the junkyard 🤣
RIP both were so good looking
I own an FJ vision in the rear and side sucks. The back doors suck as well.I purchased a Xtera and like it better.
the h3 has the chrome package
FJ was the choice for me and I test drove both before buying. I'm very happy ! It's been two years and I still haven't gotten the lift and bumpers like I promised myself I would do within a year, but that's life for you I suppose. Love the FJ tho! It's true, great ride on and off the road ~
I've really enjoyed my FJ for the last two years, but I guarantee those H3s at the mall are easier to get a family out of than my FJ with the suicide doors...seriously!
7 years ago they probably never dreamed you could buy two H3’s for the price of one FJ today😅
I'll keep my h3 no problems yet and she an 08 runs good in the mud and deep ass snow fj looks cool but not for me
I've driven both and have worked on them both.
I love my fj.
Nothing Can Compare To The Good Well Known American Off Roading Muscle HUMMER !!! ;)
A 2009 2010 hummer with the locking front and rear differentials will smoke the FJ. And go watch a video of an FJ breaking tie rods. And not to mention you can get a small block V8 in the alpha as well. Get some real world experience offroad with both and you'll choose the hummer.
Hummer stopped production in 2010. The ones out their are gold and made in USA.
You sir, are a realist. Be careful, Interneters don't take kindly to our type.
i like the h3 as usual i like all gm cars the h3 is more luxourious and more offroad capable than the fj i think the fj is much more cheaper designed than the hummer
I want both
H3 SUT Is the best.
Clearly, the video is biased against H3 from the start and I dont even own an H3
the hummers a lott of people like them but i dont when i was in the miltary my capt and liut were in a pair of the and i was in a cutv or blazer if you will the two hums got burried in the mud i had to pull them out and then went through where they had been stuck
Mammoth Patriot vs Karin Beejay XL, Only GTA Online players understand.
Had a baby Hummer for 15 years. Never been in the shop for a single repair! Put that in your pipe and smoke it, TOYOTA.
It has the same 5 cylinder of the colorado. Id rather go with fj, in matter fact im getting one soon. He he
