Thank you Indie and DV. You seem to have a lot of fun recording the video. I find a site so interesting when it is possible to track the history over the years of occupation. I am learning so much from these Friday afternoon videos.

You're welcome Karen - so glad to hear you're learning loads! And we agree... sites where you can see history unfolding is fascinating. Especially ones like this where you can see what happened to the local population when the Romans arrived!

Thank you for the talk - it was brilliant. You flashed up on the screen a link to some background information on the villa - could you post a link to that please? I've just been hunting around on the DV site but can't find it. Thanks!

Me too - I spent a day on the dig with DV a couple of years ago, great experience. I walk my dog nearby, always think about the history of the place when I'm around there....

I have been researching the Paynels of Drax, the Trussebut, Fitz-Payne of Warter, and associated names in East Yorkshire from the Conquest onwards. I’m so happy to have found your UA-cam channel! This is the first video I saw and excited to find your dig in my area of interest. I’ll be a regular here I’m sure!
I find that these families were linked together in a wide dynastic network over the centuries.
I plan to make an extended trip to England to visit these and other sites hoping to interview local historians, archeologists, and others along my way.
Any chance of participating in any of your digs while I’m there?🤔

having trouble finding any non Roman digs....they did start digging up Llewelyns castle but when no roman artifacts were found....it was re-burried. But considering how our history was burried by the Romans I think too much effort is put into continuing this cycle and Roman History can only go so far. I would love it if one day we can discover things like non lactose intollerance, white skin for climate and green eyes....I would love to know how these things came about and why they are still fairly remote and confined in terms of continents. I would love it if one day all the megalyths rotting in our feilds had value to historians who only seek the history of our fake Roman shroud...that's if those Romans were even Romans because sometimes their German :)

11,000 pints is a lifetime of beer? Surely not! It says 4.2% alcohol in a 500ml bottle, or 2.1 units according to the UK government. The gov recommends no more than 14 units per week - I'm guessing for males: either it didn't say or I didn't notice. So approx 1 bottle per day average .... That will last 32 years! OK, that's close enough to a lifetime from here on/

Indie, have no fear, the world's best presenters and minds have trouble with some phrases. I look forward to seeing "Wold Newton Roman Hoard" being mentioned in every one of your subsequent videos....
