Malayalam industry has always been producing good content even before . its not only this year. Where Indian people only love masala movies, ofcourse they will miss Malayalam movies. Go and search more, not only the 3-4 films u mentioned, there are many malayalam movies thats better than the ones this year.
This trend will continue even if competition is there… the simple and obvious reasons are
1 Recognition n reputation
2 pan India shows/ availability with subtitles
3 ofcourse quality content (main reason)
4 many non Malayalee’s interested to watch for a change from usual Masala flicks they usually watch
5. OTT
So basically this wide acceptance of Malayalam cinema in india make its presence in box office in very large numbers in coming years, let’s watch

I am hoping for the 2nd half of the year to be the same way. There are some amazing releases lined up from Onam onwards! Also some kickass movies coming up in Tamil and Telugu as well...
Normally malayalam movies had only market in kerala. But now due to Ott other indian states also started to watch malayalam movies. So now big malayalam movies are getting theaters in other states also. And now due to mammoottys winning streak TURBO is getting theaters in 70+ countries in the world.
So I hope turbo will set a new record by crossing 300 cr. And later Empuran will break that record.😅

In contrast, the budget of "Manjummal Boys" was around 20 crores, and its overall collection was over 243 crores.
