So we can know for certain. Any of the 55-ton 'Mechs with basic construction will have 27 tons used up on just the structure (n/10 = 5.5), cockpit (3 for all 'Mechs), and engine block (15.5 for a 275 engine, plus 3 by ER/100 for the gyro.) This leaves 28 tons of warload - the space allocated to weapons, armour, etc. Endo steel and XL engine tech both cut the weight by half, with the result usually rounded up to the .5. A Dervish with endo would have a 3-ton structure (saving 2.5 tons), while one with an XL will have an 8-ton engine (saving 7.5 tons). The Frenzy has 20 (LRM) + 4 (SRM) + 4 (ammo) + 2.5 (jump) + 7.5 (armour 240, at 32/ton) = 38 tons used for warload. Since this is 10 higher than normal, we can conclude that it has both endo and XL. Bet you're glad that there aren't vital engine slots hanging out in your side torsos, eh? :P
I just picked up a derv earlier. Set it up with 4x lrm 5 and a couple sb med lasers. Works really well for the playstyle i tend to like. I send my ai out to engage and just stay back raining bombs lol. Works well with my disabilities to let me play longer than trying to get up close and keep up with all the spinning and moving. Can't wait until i can find a rifleman or something in the heavy category to run more like 30 lrms but this suits me well for now.
Hmm good vid. The SRM load is brutal. I was looking for a better long range loadout for my Ai's 6M. I'm running 2 lrm15s and 2 ML. Only 1 T of ammo so it runs dry in longer battles. I should up that to 1.5. I try to keep ammo loaders off the lightly armored arms if I do not need them. Saves money when they get blown off, and I also find it hard to aim arm mounted missiles when tangoing at close range. In the TTG there was a distinct disadvantage to srm 5 + srm10 vs. Srm 15. A 15 was better in most ways. Is that true here?
facepalm last night, i realized that the pickup crates on map sometimes repair armor and stock a bit of ammo which is nice for missile loadouts like this. i noticed after pickup the armor would blink and slightly be better after pickup or that the ammo would increment up.
I'd noticed the ammo from watching Baradul accidentally loot a crate with a double heat sink (lucky!!) and pull his chem-laser ammo back from the brink. I didn't, however, know about the armour; will need to keep that in mind.
Just tried DV-6M out going back from some 200t missions to 160-180t special missions, and it feels like a straight upgrade from the Centurion! When your lancemates are all in javelins, jenners, firestarters vulcans etc. - it manages to run just as fast as they do which is wonderful compared to the slower Centurion I'm running two med SB and two streak SSRM2's, and two SLRM10's - the Medium SB lasers are easier on heat and time well with the SSRM2's , its a little different not having the full damage of normal MLasers but its definitely viable paired with the two arm SSRM2's and the two SLRM10's deliver a more reliable range punch than the centurion's single because its fast those two SSRM2's and SB lasers jive in scrappy fights better than I thought they would... mostly the stock fit for this variant but took the jump jets out and put max ammo with whats left
Id switch out one of those srm art IV with a srm6-st. That way you keep accuracy and you can put in a double heat sink, wich would allow you to fire more before overheating.
i really liked the dervish as one of my early game mediums. i ran it with 4x SRM4s and med lasers. it let me run more cooling and max armor. You should take a look at what the rifles can do. one of my current favorite builds is the 75 ton marauder with x2 L Lasers, x2 medium lasers, and a heavy rifle in the high shoulder mount. I take 3 tons of heavy rifle ammo, which is only 36 shots, but save them for good shots on key components, like panther and centurion arms. or coring out bigger mechs. I prefer the heavy rifles over AC/20's because of their speed, still close to 1000m/s
Heavy rifles are SO good, I wish they were more common near lategame areas. I am running the campaign victor BSK with triple srm4, double heavy rifle, and double medium laser, and it *shreds*
@@IntrusiveThot420 I am currently running a thunder bolt with 2 chained light rifles and a SRM 6. I use it to core mechs I have softened up with my energy weapons. I only wish I could replace the srm in that group with another rifle to keep the same aim point and lead time. Still It is very satisfying to hear the thunk boom when it connects.
Looks nice, but how does it compare to a Golden Boy? That mech wasn't too hard to get in the initial release version and man did it slap. Core assaults in 2-3 hits if you get close enough, high risk high reward. That mech carried me till I got assaults myself (and for a while after, let the AI use those stalkers while I run around actually getting stuff done) Edit: Yep, just like it, sooooo good. Instead of 'Do you believe me now?' I'd rather ask "Are you not entertained?!" Answer HELL YEAH!!
I could care less about what engine it has...long as I can get enough weps of the type I want I am happy enough.Yes, the SRM's are fun now. I learned as you showed how to aim them up for distance :) The Artic Wolf is in game? Hmmm...
Am i the only idiot who prefers medium and light mech late game? I tried doing an assassination mission with medium and heavy mechs and got swarmed. Then i switched to a multi role dervish and three locusts with lrms and just ran around being a human target designator.
@@dvoremay6683 buy 3 Awesome 8Q, put in 3 ER PPCs on each, and fill them with heatsinks and max out the armor (they only need like 14 rear armor because the AI is dumb but not THAT bad). Your lancemates will lay waste to air and ground vehicles, as well as light mechs. For your part? Pick whatever brawler you want, and keep your walking ER PPC turrets from getting fucked up, while issuing fire commands constantly at whatever needs to die
Dervish almost plays the same like the hero Kintaro with 4 SRM 6, If remember correctly. I remember if you running low on cash I would use these close quarters load out to reduce my damage and high repairing costs. Or generally Use it hunting assassinating mechs or raids. Fast in, fast out. The DPS makes these load outs efficient without sustaining a lot of damage and wasting cbills repairing my own mech. But AI use it like sh!t ofcourse, If give it to them, so don't.

This little mech is so OP taking on assaults and heavies
Try the Kintaro Golden Boy.
Evil death on two legs VASTLY outperforming the dervish.

It's a shame you get out of the mediums so fast, srm spam is incredibly fun.
