MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is an upcoming BattleTech Mecha game under development by Piranha Games and due for release on December 10, 2019 on Windows. It is the first single player MechWarrior game since 2002. It will be Epic Games Store exclusive and is slated to have raytracing powered by Nvidia RTX as well as DLSS.
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is set in 3015 during the final decade of the Third Succession War, casting the player as a rookie mercenary MechWarrior rising from the ashes of a demolished mercenary unit. They are able to accept contracts from the various factions available in this time period. The campaign is said to go all the way up to 3049, just before the Clan Invasion." - Ігри

Shame there's no special Highlander Burial where it uses it's feet for big damage when falling.

So basically, build 4 insane not exactly heat efficient mechs, use one to max out heat, jump in the next, rinse repeat. by the time you are through the derp AI pilots, having done roughly 0 shooting, will have the mech cool again and you can do another round. Sounds fun enough, optimizing dmg instead of heat ;)
super annoying though, idk if it's a bug but when you switch out of an overheating mech, the alarm wont go away until you switch back to that mech

Before you under estimate a Firestarter, kill it before it gets too close. It came out of no where and scrapped me in seconds ending my campaign. Love this game!
Firestarter is one of the deadliest mechs in the game. It can chew up assaults.
@@Weltallgaia Yeah found that out the hard way. Wouldn't know by how much of a fodder mech it is (when I piloted it) on mwo. It happened so fast I was in utter shock and disbelief!
Ya in HBS battletech there are missions and random games where if your not watching them thay will surround a mech and hit you all at once

I just ported my load data in a new career and went into these missions with my king crab atlas and my glorious Cyclops with dual guass cannons. Also got a king crab and marauder 2 out of couplefirst missions. I had to restart the mission a couple of times because I had to out right rip apart 3 limbs and at least 75% armor to be able to get it. But super worth it.

I was able to import my career from the previous run. Man, a Nightstar absolutely destroys everything here.
I also kept my NightStar from year 3063. Just found a 2nd NightStar.
But when I import my save games into Kestrel Lancer, all my completed Heroes of the Inner Sphere has to be played all over again.
Is that correct?
@@cwyang80 I have to replay them all over but I keep all my mechs, weapons and money.
I'm in 3130 by now so something tells me that I would have to restart an entire new campaign which I'm not interested in doing for the 3rd time. Considering the game has been out for more then a year I would have expected PGI to know better but who am I kidding... it's PGI, I just don't understand how you, as a dev, wouldn't see a problem with hard locking a timeline to your DLC when people have had it in their hands for over a year...
On top of that at $20 with no new mechs, just variants that mods have put into the game last year at this point just seems like it's not a worth while buy, HOTIS was mostly worth it because it at least added more content, variants are pointless unless you're on console which I'm sure this DLC caters more to. We wouldn't even need variants if PGI hadn't skimped out on making a good or even a competent mech lap, instead we have to rely on modders like everything else in MW5.

@@myles5276 you mean how I got the 2nd a Nightstar? No I didn’t mod my game (don’t even know how).
I think I got lucky around year 3060 where I forgot which planet I landed and suddenly see the option to buy a Nightstar. It’s not a rare or hero version, but just the same version as the one you got at the end of MW5.
Adding 2x MPL, 1x SPL, 1x ER PPC, 2x Gauss Rifle really dominate the field.

Biggest tip is to have many different firing groups for different buttons. Especially based on range. And cycle then to manage heat better. This is the most important thing people miss.
I finally got around to picking up this DLC, and have a question: What are peoples' opinions of starting immediately with the Kestrels vs. moving up to the DLC timeline with heavies or whatever? Is it meant for heavy/assault mechs, or is it fine with the starting mechs they give you?

What about those new mission types, biomes and variants, are those in the main campaign with this DLC?
I will say the Kestrel Lancer start date is kinda bad since you could get way better pilots and mechs by the time you hit 3026 than what they give you.
The start date is 100% in line with the lore. But yes, if you start in 3015, you can have 12 assault mechs by the time the DLC campaign starts.
are changes imported to a normal campaign? Like the new biomes...

This may be a dumb question, but let's say I'm in the northern parts of Steiner space in december 3025 or something like that. If I travel all the way back to the Capellan/FedSuns border to start the DLC, is it possible that I'm still to late for it to start the DLC? Or can you start it from any star system?

If you are playing coop can your team mate switch between mechs or is this limited to the main player only
All players can switch to AI mechs as long as there is a free AI mech present.
I am playing campaign, not sure about this career thing.
Just started my game yesterday and today it sends me this invite for this campaign and says i have 27 days to accept or i will lose it? I accepted, i have 3 mechs total and after the first mission im stuck because 2 are being repaired. If i opt out it says i cannot rejoin on this saved game?? So if i drop the mission i cannot play this again on my game? Wtf?
Yes, but can you import your mechs from your current career, which is past the timeline, into a new career in the DLC timeline? As I understand it you can only import your campaign mechs into a career.
I tried this. No you can't. As there are tech/weapon variants that only come out after certain years

Is it correct that if you start a new campaing carrear that the DLC will not start?
It will give you the priority transmission when you reach 3026, pretty sure in April or March. My first playthrough was with my Campaign company and that really made it too easy; its balanced for a fresh start from the career screen. You'd probably also be way overpowered for the missions if you went in with a 3015 career mode company.
I can't import my mechs from one of my saves why would that be.
What dlc is better Heroes of the inner sphere or legend of the kestrel lancers?
Get both they make the game so much more together.

@@TTBprime didn't exist at all. Was able to find the files that were causing said issue though.

I assume yes. The campaign starts in like 15' I think
Yeah, just don’t go PAST 3026 in your campaign’s Timeline, without starting the Kestrel DLC. Try to be ‘kinda close’ to the starting Systems for it, by the end of 3025 I’d say - just to make sure you don’t miss the start time 😉
Ttb did you noticed performance drop after the kestrel lancers patch? For me it's unplayable, fps drops and stuttering all the time, before the patch I was doing 80fps with ultra setting (r5 3600+1070ti+32gb ram 3600mhz). I believe I will wait the next patch
The opposite actually. Getting far reduced drops during crazy battles with lots of particle effects. i7 9750h 1660ti laptop.
No performance drop for me mate. My guess is your graphics card doesn't like Ultra. I play with lower settings than that, same GPU.
Hey the one question I want to know. Did they touch the AI whatsoever? If you don’t know…does it “feel” any better??

Especially in my hero spider everytime I punch another mech I lose my arm
@Mr. Miyagi seems like you failed to listen to the video. He said you don't take damage when punching an opponent. Punching a flea in a spider should not damage my arm yet I am running the bug where my arm blows off.

@@Cbwifey215 it was a bug. I deleted the game and reloaded it and it was fixed. Megacities showed up too.

For some reason i dont have the keybind to swap to lancemate mechs, can someone please assist me with this? I don't know why the game isn't allowing me to swap to lancemates and it is really frustrating. I am almost at the point of wanting my money back.

@@TTBprime Under keybinding i dont have the option to even use Z / Y, the command Select AI Lancemate or Swap is not there, I saw your video and I don't have the option. My game is missing it or bugged, I have reinstalled it and it still does not show up. I play from Epic Store by the way if that helps, I don't know why I don't even have the keybind command... 😰
@@Dalhaven Just press it in a mission and see if that swaps mechs.
@@TTBprime I tried both buttons Z and Y numerous times and nothing happened, I am very certain my game files do not have the option for it somehow. I saw in a forum it happened to a few people's game that bought it on steam and they fixed it by deleting a game file, but I do not have that particular file since I downloaded and own the game through epic store. So I really don't know what to do to fix the problem.
@@Dalhaven Try asking in the MW5 discord or email PGI support directly, that's your only option at that point.
A friendly reminder when you transfer to a new campaign or career your upgrades do not transfer over. So you have to do those horrid side missions all over again

I had thought that melee was balanced and then now I find it is just what I feared it would be and it is crap. You should get almost as much damage as you give when you use melee. You and a Mech colliding gives damage and no difference just because you use your arms. I at first complemented PGI , but now I will have to go and lambast them to Hell for doing it wrong after all :(
Well, perhaps they give a nod to the boardgame, where you don't receive any damage from punsh/kick attacks. Ramming or DFO is another matter.
i mean you make a good point, but you'd die so fast by using melee if it was under your ruleset. and like he said in the video, the AI almost always punches you back if it can, so in a way its kind of like taking damage from melee.
