Very interesting. I have never heard of an Aardwolf but they do sort of remind me of hyena's. Great video. Thanks so much. Its so nice to see a species of animal that I had never heard heard of and seen before. A real treat.
what beautiful creatures they are - such dainty paws, very domestic cat-like. they do look rather like hyenas. it's amazing that these guys look so much like dogs, but are feliforms (cats are feildae and hyenas are hyenadae, which have convergent evolution with and are morphologically like dogs ). i've only seen photos, so this was found treasure. thanks so much.
Last year there was a clue on Jeopardy about an aardwolf. My husband had never heard of this animal so we visited the Cincinnati Zoo night hunters exhibit and there it was! I love our zoo.
You know how Kristen Bell feels about sloths? That's pretty much me when it comes to aardwolves. They are one of the cutest creatures to ever exist. Buncha fluffy, sad-eyed bug-eating fox-hyenas. Completely adorable.
I love kids of course, but this is a great way for adults to learn more about known - and some never-heard-of-before species! The aardwolf is a great example of something totally new and fascinating to me. Thank you for such a wholesome and educational series of videos!! I am so enjoying them!
An Aardwolf. How about that. They look fierce, especially the female. Glad to know that they're shy, unlike hyenas, which they resemble to a point. Favorite moment: when the male scratched in that wood chip pile and laid down. Thank you for introducing me to an animal I had never heard of, and providing very interesting information about them. You're doing a fabulous job with Home Safari, please keep doing it. Good health and happiness to you and your charges.
Wow. I also had never heard of an aardwolf and I thought I knew of all the major wildlife species in southern Africa. Just goes to show you, there's always more to learn! And these are fascinating guys. Thanks. 👏
Video indicates aardwolves "don't run fast". Just returned from Namibia where I was fortunate enough to see an aardwolf during a daytime game drive. Aardwolf was in a shallow burrow along the road, jumped out of the burrow and ran off like it had been shot out of a cannon. Not slow at all! Weird, slinky-like undulating running style. Experienced guide stood up in vehicle and was wide-eyed-said he had NEVER seen one before. Exciting encounter for all. Exciting also that you have aardwolves at your (excellent!) Zoo. Thought you'd like to know they are pretty speedy when surprised.
The Home Safari, started out as a nice distraction for the kids, but I'm learning as well. An Aardwolf who would've thunk it! It's in the family of the Hyena, but it has a long sticky tongue as the Aardvark to eat insects! I'm amazed at each segment! Thank you, for your commitment to the animals and the education of our kids!🤗❤💚💜💙💛❤💚💜💙💛❤💚💜💙
What floofy peglegged pegtoothed wolf-cats! 😸 Poor Aardwarks get all their termites eaten by these cute ant-robbers. 🐜 That pile of cardboard looks really comfy. Thank you keepers and Aardwolves! 💕🐾
I might be wrong but I think the difference between a distributed infestation in wooden beams and a natural termite mound would be too great. Though I have heard that south african farmers will try to accomodate and protect aardwolves on their land to control termite populations before they infest fencing and other structures.
They are but they don't hunt like predators instead they follow aardvarks around eating whatever termites the aardvarks may have left behind with their sticky tongue
They are off camera literally the entire time, don't you use closed captions? They wear the masks to protect other people but also the animals as well.
@@oranjmusemeyer968 The closed captions are fairly useless, "auto-generated" on my computer which means that the machine in many instances doesn't hear properly. As to Wendy: this is a hyena, just a specialised member of the family.
I am currently obsessed with these little guys, they’re so adorable and interesting
I just found them! 😂
How did I get so old and not know about such cool creatures? ❤
Very interesting. I have never heard of an Aardwolf but they do sort of remind me of hyena's. Great video. Thanks so much. Its so nice to see a species of animal that I had never heard heard of and seen before. A real treat.
they are related
@@llamawalrushybrid Their a species of hyena.
A species of hyena but not predator
Unnecessary apostrophe

They actually are hyenas, they are the last of the “dog like” hyenas.

How cool that these guys are not on the endangered list! ❤
So cool. I'd heard of this species but knew almost nothing about them. It's so cool that you guys have these two.
Have you ever heard of a Painted Wolf?

I love aardwolves and see very little content of them online, so this is greatly appreciated!!
I had never heard of this critter before. Fascinating....
I always look forward to your Vlogs I see unique animals I never knew existed. Thank you all at the Zoo.
I learned something new today 👏👏 Fascinating creatures.
Ever heard of a Painted Wolf?
Never heard of these animals before ,very interesting!!! Glad the Cincinnati zoo has them!!!
Learned something new! What a remarkable beastie!
Is very interesting. Have never even heard of them before. Thanks for letting me know about them.
Ever heard of a Painted Wolf?
These are really Awsome visits.
Very sweet aardwolf

Change is stunning!
I feel like this guy is underrated more people need to know about the aardwolf heck I want to see toys of these guys
Wonderful video. I love them but so hard to find information about them.
Unique animal. Yes it does remind me of a hyena like with coat but more adaptive to their food availability.
Unique animal as you mentioned, it is interesting that they are not in danger, even with that specific diet of eating termites.
:0) Thank you sooo much! :0)
👍🙏🎉❤
Cute.
Do the aardwolf have a sudopenis like the spotted hyenas? Where in Africa are they located?
i wonder, can aardwolfs be trained to treat termite infestations the way goats can treat poison ivy infestations in gardens and mow lawns? :)
I might be wrong but I think the difference between a distributed infestation in wooden beams and a natural termite mound would be too great. Though I have heard that south african farmers will try to accomodate and protect aardwolves on their land to control termite populations before they infest fencing and other structures.
how big is she or he
Ni siquiera sabia que estos animales existian😪👍👏🇨🇱
¿Conoces al Lobo Pintado? (Lícaon)
They actually will dig thier own burrows but only if they have to.
Is the Aardwolf related to the Hyena?
They are but they don't hunt like predators instead they follow aardvarks around eating whatever termites the aardvarks may have left behind with their sticky tongue
We need these animals in Hawaii. Eat those termites
were isa th cub
Pink skin? Spotted and striped hyenas have black skins with some pink spots, black lips too.
They have such tiny feet 😂
Looks like the male aardwolf did not get to eat
Thank you for taking off your mask, I have trouble hearing and need to lip read 👏 this creature looks like an hyena
