    LYRICS
    Welcome to this life
    Born into the fight
    Here to claim your dream
    Look you in the eye
    Patch the broken sky
    Craving dopamine
    Then my voice appears
    Teaching you of fears
    Are you good enough?
    You don’t recognize
    Head is full of lies
    You should just give up
    Listen well, better listen well
    Listen well, better listen well
    Don’t ever speak my name
    Remember you’re to blame
    Keep me inside
    Keep me inside
    My name is suicide
    Curse another day
    Spirit locked away
    Punish and deprive
    Hate to be awake
    Living a mistake
    More dead than alive
    Then a voice appears
    Whisper in your ears
    “You are good enough”
    Throwing down a rope
    A lifeline of hope
    Never give you up
    Listen well, better listen well
    Listen well, better listen well
    Don’t ever speak my name
    Remember you’re to blame
    Keep me inside
    Keep me inside
    My name is suicide
    Terrified in sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
    Isolate and fight your mind
    Telling you you’re left behind
    My lying voice inside
    Keeps drinking cyanide
And no more can you run
    Into the sun
    Terrified, sleepless nights
Caught in spotlight dead to rights
    Isolate and fight your mind
    Telling you you’re left behind
And now you speak my name
    You’ve given back the blame
    Keep me deep inside
    Don’t you keep me inside
    Screaming suicide
    Now that I’m exposed inside
    Shined a light on cyanide
    I’m no longer needed here
Now you've faced your biggest fear

My 15 year old son ended his life back on September 23rd, 2022. Know this, no matter how bad and alone you feel, there are people that care about you. It may seem dark now, but things will get better. If I can make one person change their mind, so much the better. You are not alone.

Can we appreciate several things here?
    1. These dudes are in their 60s and are still rockin’
    2. They wrote a an awesome song about a tough issue (please seek help if you are in a dark place. People do care about you)
    3. They have released so much for this album from the songs themselves to music videos to lyric videos in several languages to ASL videos
    4. They are touring for this album with several cities getting 2 completely different set lists

For real they are legends that transcend time, i used to listen to them when i was a kid until this day, i admire them.
Also their concert is the best i've ever been, plus they crush any of the young guys doing a concert for 2 and a half hours without a break, with a lot of energy, passion and obviously impeccable technique.

What resonates with me, is the song is tackling some dark and disturbing thoughts many of us struggle with. But it sounds like it’s in a major key, which we don’t get a lot of when it comes to this subject matter.
For me, it’s almost a perfect representation of my Bipolar/PTSD. Struggling with dark issues, trying to put a happy face on for those who depend on me, and not being immune to breaking down. Then having to fight those issues, to get back to square 1. It’s important to remember, starting back at square 1 is frustrating, but square 1 is better than square dead.

Sorry you went through that. I had a second cousin whose mom had Huntington's disease who hung herself. Husband and kid was not bad. Her daughter suffered the same fate without the suicide part but she died young inadvertently.
I had a friend who surprisingly took his own life despite getting married and I had not talked to him for years. ( this was 2000 and I moved to a different state across the country and then I hear that he's dead when I call him from my DC area). I had one more friend who also shot himself.
Unlike the first friend, this person did not apparently have the occasional mentaln illness issue. 2002 for one and 2013 for another. Even though I moved to a different part of the country I wish I talked to them more before they passed away because they meant so much to me before I can even really say it.

This is a great message actually because anyone who ever mentions suicide is generally scapegoated for mental health. At least I was. So the idea "keep me inside" "don't ever speak my name" "remember you're to blame" big deal. People shouldn't be scapegoated for ever having those experiences. They should be venerated for getting through it. Walk a mile in their shoes, then you might know what it's like because being isolated and fighting your mind is the worse experience. Try it while scapegoated by your own community who's supposed to lift you up not put you down after expressing your will to die.

For those walking a seemingly unbearable road and contemplating the darkness and despair inside; people you didn't think cared and loved you, care and love you more than you could ever imagine. More than they ever knew.
To turn back the hands of time, they'd give everything. Every possession, every dollar, go homeless, wear rags, EVERYTHING just to reach through the veil and undo what was done. What if... I had just messaged, called, asked, saw? Where did I go wrong? What could I have done? Whatever it was we could have faced together? Please come back! We need you! PLEASE GOD, TAKE MY TOMORROW SO I CAN HAVE YESTERDAY!
Time is a thief and heals not these wounds.

Did UA-cam seriously block the official music video? Because oh no they can't have such a negative topic on their website, no no, because life is all roses, while the reality is that people need to be heard who are suffering from depression, moreover they need a cathartic release with music like this that identifies with what they're going through and UA-cam blocks it. Preventing suicide is giving a person a voice not taking it away, but no they can't have such a "negative" video that ruins the "positivity" of their platform and therefore their revenue. Thank you Metallica for this song.

ikr, "we care about people's wellbeing so we put a warning before this video" bullshit they just don't want the topic of suicide brought up directly by a person or entity big enough to get attention to it as potential advertisers wouldn't like that so fuck us and our music and the message behind it for their profits. Fuck youtube, cant wait for a decent alternative to switch to.

I absolutely LOVE this new album! Inamorata is legendary good. Several other genuine classics on there as well. I’m amazed how good it is. Lost my dad a couple years ago and my mom is going any day now but I was able to show her the new album last week. She’s hardly all there now but still loved it. They sat in 98 and listened to all of Load and Reload with me to make sure it was safe for me as a 13 year old who had just discovered Memory Remains and fell in love with Metallica and guitar, which changed my life forever as a future musician. I still remember the trepidation I felt as I watched my dad listen through each song. It wasn’t long until he shouted, “THIS IS REALLY GOOD” over the headphones as the air guitar and drums began and the fear subsided giving way to us bonding over discussions of the lyrics and riffs and sounds my dad thought found influences in his older favorites. Many great memories and now my kids are doing this with me and loving every song. Great job guys. You should be very proud. Thanks for the great music. This is up there with your best of all.
