i understand they formed the band in 1981, but they didn’t release their first album until 1983. curious as to how you were listening to them before they released their first piece of work? 😂 Correction- so far 1981 is impossible, but 1982 is legit.

Considering their age, the fact that they can still play at this pace with as much intensity and aggression just goes to show their level of professionalism, commitment, and sheer dedication to the music. There are plenty of artists in their advance stage of life and clearly they can’t cut it anymore, but these guys still have something to prove each and every time. Now they’re in their Ironmaiden phase, writing 11min songs to test themselves. Not bad grand daddies of rock!
People imagine people at their age not supposed to be able to do this. Most talented musician have been able to do it into their very old age. Look at the Rolling Stones still kicking it at 80. Many people are to do what they are the best at almost until they die. We have not seen the end for Metallica, not in the foreseeable future. Maybe 2 more albums at least I believe.
Yeah, in about six-and-a-half years, since Spit out the Bone, haha. 72 Seasons, Lux Aeterna, Shadows Follow and In-Amorata-Da-Vida (sorry, couldn't resist) are solid songs, but man this album is way too long and reeks of "sameness."
Same. It's fun to play on guitar. I love when people complain that it sounds like Metallica's best stuff from the 1980s and 2008+ combined. I'm also digging Nobody by Avenged Sevenfold. The lyrics are interesting.

Metallica is on tour right now, if you've never seen them live and have be contemplating...GO! Saw them Friday at their first US date. They looked and sounded great! What an experience.

The resales are more expensive if you want really good seats but I think just "being in the room" would still be an amazing experience. I was contemplating going the second night. Just buy the cheap seats in top.

Although I was 10 when it was released haha I was into My Chemical Romance, Green Day and Avril Lavigne music so I didn't really digged much into it but when HWTSD came out I had stepped into the metal scene I enjoyed every single track on it (ManUnkind is not as good as the rest of the songs) and now 72 Seasons. Such an honor for me to be round the same time as Metallica. 🙏🏼

I quit work early and drove to their house, where dad said the new album took him back more than 40 years to before I was born.

I actually prefer the lyric video, it kinda synchronises better with the track, and although I'm not really that fussed by lyrics normally, here they really do elevate the song.
I love how most of the new songs are 7+ minutes long. And they're some of Metallica's best work in a LONG time! About time they brought back the THRASH. Hardwired was good, but this one KILLS - I'm talking almost on the level of Justice/Master.
And there is Lux Aeterna that is so similar to Hit The Lights. This album kicks ass! Well let’s hear the rest first to make sure but so far I don’t predict any half baked song on this one
