Do you need a writing center next to the word wall? One of the rectangle tables can be used for that… The other one can be a phonics center or math or whatever you center that is beneficial for your class.
Are you doing other classroom video and lakeshore and Amazon wish list for your new classroom video and I love watching classroom set up video lots of fun things on UA-cam videos
So good. I like this video very much because it's very interesting. Thank you. You are very confident. Very interesting experience. Always beautiful and beautiful. I like toooo&&&&₫ likee toooooo
THE BEST TYPE OF VIDEO! The kids come in September 9th so I still have time to set up (and film the process). This week is PD, thank you for sharing your beautiful space, definitely pulling inspiration ❤️
Cheap book bins - Walmart ice cube bins are usually about 1.50 (in the kitchen supply area) and they work great!! I’ve used mine for 3 years with my first graders and they hold up well. Another great idea for a calm down corner is board books because they can be more rough with them when they are upset!
I can’t wait for the set-up Day 3 video!! The classroom is looking good so far! Watching your videos gets me excited because I am going to school for education myself, and it's my dream to be a kindergarten teacher!! Your channel is helping me prepare for my teaching journey! Thank you for sharing your teaching journey with me and others!! #SoHelpful #GreatTips #GreatHacks 🙂💕
I have so much appreciation for you and all the work you put into setting up your classroom for your students! I teach at the college level and online courses but I totally watched this video all the way through. Love the colors! Best wishes on your first day of classes!
For the word wall- consider moving the bottom two rows over, put O where P is, and then shift down and move U to where W is so that your open spots are where O and V are now so that it is not hidden behind the shelf! Also- for the calm down corner- maybe put an area under the table? So that if kids are overstimulated it could be a dark, smaller space for them to calm down?
One of the two tables you can use for sanitation areas/ or placed the lunchbox. I don't know if you're district uses agendas but the other table can be for that, student place the agenda early in the morning and then you can check anything if the parents request something at the end of the returns back to the students.
Hi! I do dyslexia therapy and am really excited you actually have a chalkboard! What I like to do with my kiddos (although I do work on one right now though) that struggle with letter formation is have them practice their formation on a chalkboard to help them "feel" how the letters are formed. So you could set up the chalkboard area as a part of a writing center. So what I would do is keep tiny pieces of a cut sponge and chalk in one of those pencil buckets from Target. Then when the center time comes around, write a few letters on the board, dampen the cut-up sponges, and have the students erase the letters with the wet sponge, rewriting and erasing as they go. And they only do whatever letters you have already introduced. I carry a small board for when I travel. But I've also used a cookie sheet from Dollar Tree and put sand in it and had students do tactile letter formation that way too. And that can be done at the tables. I worked as a Pre-K and Kinder aid before getting trained to do dyslexia therapy, and the school used Handwriting Without Tears that came with the boards. But it transfers well as a tactile method and can be adapted for kids who struggle with forming letters.
Love how your classroom is coming together! I think the blues all look so good and just adding the border to the darker blue boards did the trick! 😉 TFS ☺️
Room is coming along nicely! Would you consider placing number cards near top of bulletin board and hide imperfections of wall with posters or decorative items. You created a very useful tool for your kiddos, don’t want them to strain their little necks to use it.
If those boards don’t last, you can go to a home improvement store and get shower board and have them cut it. It won’t have the lines, but I’ve had mine for about 10 years and they are in good shape still! And for your word wall, can you just scoot Z all the way to right and shift the rest of the letters over too so the shelf doesn’t have to be moved?
Your room is looking so good! If you end up wanting to cover the chalkboards, maybe try some dry erase contact paper. It could make them a little more functional!
Your room is coming together nicely. I adore the library area. That carpet is so cheerful and inviting too. I noticed you have an Amazon wishlist. Would the address to ship be your new address? I would hate to have someone purchase for you and it get delivered to Washington instead of Florida! I know how busy you have been moving, geting settled, new school so I thought I needed to ask about the correct address.

Sadly when you live in florida the classrooms will never be cold. I’ve lived in florida my entire life and you get used to it but it really sucks.

For your chalkboard, you can use chalk markers instead of regular chalk or dry erase boards!

Maybe you could laminate the whiteboards? Would probably help them last a bit longer!

What spacing do you use for your word wall? (How many inches between and below each letter?)
Can you ask your custodial staff to remove furniture that you don’t want?
I hope your AC is fixed soon, that’s the worst!!!
