How much would you pay for a chocolate eclair? We’re not talking a big, fancy, all-singing-all-dancing chocolate eclair, just a nice, average, humble eclair.
You know that we like a bargain and that Blackpool is packed with great deals but we discovered that the Central Pier Cafe is definitely the exception when it comes to tasty treats.
You can find out exactly how much we were fleeced in our Central Pier video, we aslo show you the new impoved big wheel and share some history of the pier. Why not grab a drink, relax and take a stroll with us.

One of my summer jobs just after leaving school was working in the Wheelhouse cafe. It was great serving behind the counter selling cakes 'chocolate eclairs' clearing tables and selling ice creams. I did wear a mask while robbing people. The year was 1966 and the manageress in charge was a Mrs H as we called her, very nice and pleasant. Sun shone every day for 2 months and I listened to England win the world cup. Happy days. Well keep up the good work Chatter Guys.
Hello Mikemac! What an awesome memory, thanks for sharing it. Were the chocolate eclairs that extortionate in those days? Tim remembers going to Blackpool with his Grandma in the early seventies and her paying £1.60 for scampi and ships 🍤🍤🍤

It was a bit cheeky, to say the least! We expected the eclairs to be a bit pricey with it being in the pier but £4 each was taking the biscuit 🍪.

Hi kkrispy! Thank you, we're thrilled with our subscribers. We haven't made a video about the North pier yet, but we will be making one eventually. It was too cold to ride the big wheel last time we were there, but it's something else that we're planning to video. So sad to hear about Barry Humphreys.
Back in the day I used to go to the Peter Webster show on the Central pier twice a day it was great.
Tim has a very vague memory of an end-of-the-pier show when he was very young, but he can't remember who the entertainer was. Was it in the sixties, Ray? 🎈

The eclairs were just the regular size you can buy in the supermarket for £1.50 for 4.

Probably the mid to late sixties but he wasn’t at the end of the pier it was talent show in a outdoor theatre mid way down the pier.
That could have been the same as what Tim vaguely remembers. It was definitely outdoors and he thinks the audience were sitting in deckchairs ☀️
