Elvin Bishop only played in two bands, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and his own band. He is recognized as one of the hottest guitar players around and fronted his band and toured America for over fifty years, still plays today, check him out doing "I'm Old School". I saw them do this live at The Aquarius in Seattle in 1976.
When this was a huge hit, everyone (including the radio stations) thought it was actually Elvin Bishop singing.... the Radio DJ's should have made it known to the music listeners that the singer was actually Mickey Thomas, even though it's released as 'Elvin Bishop'.... unless of course the DJ's themselves were fooled too.
Beautiful voice of Mickey Thomas!
Such a good tune! ❤
That show is called The Midnight Special.Wolfman Jack was just one if the host

Wolfman was a cool DJ. Always loved this song.
Elvin realised he didn't have the voice to do this song justice, so he let his backup singer sing it.
Yeah, it was Burt Sugarman’s Midnight Special..
Loved the vocals too!
Never gets old!
Love Mickie Thomas' voice❤
React to Mickey Thomas for Jefferson Starship singing 'Jane' please. Great song and great voice!!
Midnight Special was Burt Sugarman. Wolfman Jack had his own TV show but he also did midnight special as a guest announcer, like Helen Reddy.
