In the last scene, where they make you think that Joel actually dies, I cried for my first time to a videogame.
Hearing Ellie's desperate words there made me recall the last conversation she had with Sam, where she says that she is terrified of ending up alone.
Dying there would mean leaving her completely alone, in her worst nightmare.

an amazing moment, although hes wounded very badly, he does what every father would..... acts like hes fine as well as focuses on still trying to protect his little ellie, because if he lets her know hes really badly injured, thats when fear will strike her. Him pulling through is giving her courage to push through with him. Her sounding angry is just her caring and being scared or joel. amazing
It's rare for me to cry but my heart felt heavy and just one tear rolled down my face the whole time. :(

One of the most engrossing and memorable sequences ever in a videogame. The high of reaching this university to finding it empty and then you are just like, man this shit just will never end, and then boom ... the worst thing in the world for Ellie to happen, Joel getting injured, happens and you play through it completely helpless looking on as Ellie fights for her life.
Then boom, you are thrust into Winter and you are then playing as Ellie! Blew my f'in mind.

The attachment people felt with Joel is so amazing, naughty dog did such an outstanding job at making such a emotionally gripping game and characters, by far the best linear single player story of all time.

this game has the best soundtrack EVER
Ellie asking Joel "You gotta tell me what to do" and knowing you just left her all alone. I love this game but it makes me so sad.
Dear God the sound of Joel simultaneously getting impaled and slamming against the ground still makes me wince.
I rarely ever talk out loud when I'm playing or watching anything by myself but I still remember audibly making this weird noise of shock and disgust and then just saying "shitttttt"
Then hearing the sound of tearing as Ellie pulls him off elicited the same reaction all over again.
There are plenty of way more graphic sequences of violence in other games, but Last of Us does such a phenomenal job of making you care about the characters which makes the violence against them just that much more brutal.
By these reactions, this shows the devotion people had to two fictional characters. The father daughter bond and there struggle to survive. Then think. How the second game plays out, and bastardize's it.
I mean their story was over there wasn’t much else they could’ve done with it
@@spirit2218 Instead, they added consequences to characters actions. People really thought Joel could get away with killing a whole group by his own will. Think about this, the only times in the original game you kill people not just for survival, is at the beginning and at the end. Every single person you kill in the last of us 2 is not for survival. Joel made a choice, never to think his actions would affect other people’s lives.
@@spirit2218 Tess said it best herself, they are shitty people. Always have, until they are presented with a chance to redeem themselves by escorting Ellie for a “cure”. This is completely negated by Joel slaughtering almost all of the fireflies. His actions meant nothing in the end. Joel is selfish. We love him for that. We all thought that life owed him his daughter, and he didn’t care what it cost to have one back.

This is the scene that made me love The Last of Us. I mean, I knew it was pretty good while I was playing this, but this scene made me love this game.
Love this game man. Usually when some shit like this happens to the main character I just blow it off knowing they won't die, but i specifically remember when this happened my heart instantly dropped. After watching joel's daughter, tess, and those two boys die it felt like anybody was liable to kick the bucket, even joel himself. I honestly thought that was it.

This is still the most gruesome and painful scene ever. Joel being brutally impaled and being pulled off the metal object was rough. I'll gladly take this scene over Joel's disrespectful death in last of us 2 anyday
These are the people that show what this game can do I've played it since 2013 and I never get tired of playing it but these people show the emotional connection to Joel and Ellie if you allow yourself to connect to them

The fact that Joel reminds me of my own dad makes this so much harder to watch. They're so alike that I just cringe and tear up every time Joel gets impaled. The only thing that saved me from flat out crying was hearing Ellie say "then fucking walk."
I'm no doctor but I really don't think there are real possibilities to surviving a fall like that.

Damn this game. It's been 2 years since I've played this and I know he's alright but I still get fucked up by this scene and I 100% teared up while playing as Ellie

I've been thinking about it, and I might start recording my own playthroughs, and start a new channel for complete playthoughs with commentary (and perhaps facecam too). If it turns out I dont have the time, I might just record my playthroughs and add reactions to compilations in the future. The problem with the games I'm currently making compilations on, is that I have already played it all through, and seen all scenes about a 100 times already. So my reactions wouldn't be that great.

Looking back at this, I can tell I'm not gonna like The Last of Us part 2 one bit. By not liking it, I mean it's gonna cause me so much heartache. They say this game was much lighter and part 2 will be darker. HOW?! This one seemed pretty dark to me despite some chuckling moments. Sea died (at the very beginning and that was sad!), Tess got bit by a zombie, this happened to Joel and a bunch of other stuff that got me feeling all kinds of ways. If they make it darker than this one, I have no idea how to feel
