Why would he do that? Well, eight years later and 14,000 dead people in the Donbas region are why, read some accurate history on the region. Start the war, then send more weapons in to keep the war going. The old playbook never fails.

The Ukrainian army have been hunting the people from Eastern Ukraine in the most atrocious ways for 8 years. Here is a clip from what happened 8 years ago and has not stopped since. According to statistics of the European OSCE this year Feb 22nd there were over 1,400 attacks on Donbass by the Ukrainian military. I watch a few Patrick Lancaster interviews with locals lately and they felt betrayed by the Ukrainians. Those who didn't want to be evacuated were consider separatist and were being shelled by the Ukrainian forces.
