  • The 500 cc DBD34 was introduced in 1956, with clip-on handlebars, the same big finned alloy engine with a newly designed head,[7] 38 mm ( 1 1/2" ) bell-mouth Amal carburettor and swept-back exhaust. The DBD34 had a 110 mph (180 km/h) top speed. The Gold Star dominated the Isle of Man Clubmans TT that year. Later models had an ultra close-ratio gearbox (RRT2)[with a very high first gear, enabling 60 mph (97 km/h) plus before changing up to second. Amongst the options available were a tachometer and a 190mm full width front brake that gave a larger lining area than the standard 8" single sided unit. A scrambles version was also offered.Many of the machines were exported to the USA where there was high demand for them. A series of special models were made for this lucrative market.
    Production ended in 1963

      Yes it's a bit special . The old smiths chronometric dials look at them and guess what it says with them moving all over the place . Cheers Anthony

    It is so strange to see such kind of a dash, I mean the opposite direction of the speed and rpms indication. Otherwise a wonderful bike. Thanks for sharing it bro. Drop by when you have time. :)

      I don't do the proper right turn signal as most people don't recognise it . Yes it's the most fun you can do with your clothes on . It's demanding to ride as you have to think all the time right side gear lever 1 up 3 down shifting and no idle set up so you have to keep the revs up when cornering and taking off . Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it

      @@norfolkandgoodmotovlogs lol yes most people would think your just giving a wave to another motorist , your probably right it's as close as you can get with your clothes on , brilliant 😄

    Involving motorcycle.Glue and lockwire the kickstart rubber. In the event of an off or collision, bare hands don't fare very well when scraping along the road.

    • @norfolkandgoodmotovlogs
      @norfolkandgoodmotovlogs  Рік тому

      Yes you are right should be wearing gloves i was wearing them up to that point but pulled in the layby and forgot to put them on . Don't think it's the proper rubber as it's too loose so i think i will get a new one and glue it . Cheers

    The problem with British kickstart rubbers is they are made from rubber, and last a couple of problematic months. Japanese rubbers, on the other hand, are made from plastic and can last for 40 years or more.
