Over here in NJ, county is far worse than prison. If you go to jail, you want a sentence that’s more than 365, and pray they get you into a state prison as fast as possible. Nothing worse than being in Camden county, or Atlantic county with a bunch of dudes kicking fentanyl. Don’t drink and drive, and don’t do powders or pills friends.

... Mr. Beard's vids' are realistic + enjoyable, you may want to take a page out of the Ben Gravy and Mr. J.O.B. book(s) and tone down on the language a bit for increased traffic ("subscribers"). (Keeping in mind that a large percentage of your Followers' will most likely be groms' and adoring young surf-bunnies'), and Parents' checking on what their Kid's are Digesting.. Other than that - max potential for increasing publicity and entertaining life-style; - not worth diminishing over a hand-full of 4-Letter words. (Just my crappy f*^king Opinion). Surf or Die

Ok, that being said.
This is how it should work -- Safety first, of course, If you can't handle it you shouldn't be out in the lineup. BUT I call BS, on pros, and anybody who thinks because you can afford to live on or near an American surf break DOESN'T MEAN YOU OWN IT! Even pro's. I pay taxes and served my country for over 30 years. When I travel to a surf break I paddle out, be respectful, and wait my turn (Yes, I count out loud, but in a nice way). I will actually announce out loud when I have priority. I wait until everyone who was there has paddled at least once - THEN I GO. It is as simple as that. If a local or pro paddles around inside of me to catch my wave, someone who has gone already, then I drop in because that is my wave. They are the ones who are out of turn, not following the agreed-upon rules of the game. I'm trained, I bring extra boards, I have a great attitude, I make friends instantly, I lend my extra boards to surfers, I pack a nice cooler, ---- but it is not up to me to buy my way into a lineup, nor is it up to me to ask for permission, and especially it's NOT UP to me to get out of the way of someone because they are local. Can you imagine if we apply the same localism to other things in life - TITO's Taco, always a long line. Should locals just walk up to the front? Golf Course - a foursome of locals just rolling up onto the first tee without checking in.
When traveling around the world, true indigenous members always get the right of way. (and I'm not talking about someone whose wealthy mom bought their beachside property back in 1952. They are not indigenous).
Last thing is - it's surfing - have fun! It's a JOKE to see a 30 year old wanna-be "I am the best surfer on the beach" local surfer, screaming down the line to keep people off the wave while doing the same off the lip turn over and over again a dozen times. No one cares, no one is applauding you, people do not want to suddenly have sex with you, and you are not a superhero!!! All you get is a nice memory of a dozen turns for the next day back at work stocking the shelves at Home Depot or sitting at your Wall Street home office desk. No one cares. Now if you act nice, and kick out after 5 turns - so that a beginner can catch their first wave on the inside - and your kicking out gives them that opportunity - now you are screaming for them - "GO GO, YOU GOT IT!" Now that's a great moment for you to remember and you're living the most important part of surfing - Humanity living in motion with our mother ocean. TOGETHER!

I just did a year and a half in county lost my trial and got an 18 year suspended sentence. Its heavy and there's nothing cool about it and there's no cred in it. It would be nice to see you steer the groms in the other direction without any glorification of the experience.

Zeke,.true inspiration. A lotta young kids are lost and fighting demons by loosing their mom or dad and it heads them straight into a wall of drugs and alcohol. Me personally thought I had life figured out at 21 having rad girlfriends but breaking all their hearts to now being sober for 14 years and raising three kids of my own solo. Their mom hasn't called or seen em in 8 years and 5 months ago my dad who didn't speak to me for 8 years took his own life. I live in Virginia Beach and I haven't really took surfing serious but u inspire me to go get a 5-4 Buel of course 🤙 and start hitting these zero crowded zones. #teamsoberlife

You should be given props to the old-school SD boys from the early 2000s that help push the aerial surfing movement Zach Reinhart, Ben Wei Derek, Bockelmon, Eric McHenery Pat Moss Josh Sleigh the list goes on.

Keeping it real means showing the struggles too. It can’t always be 6’ and offshore. Go for it, but also look out for your own mental health and sobriety as you do. Good luck.

No it don't. Ppl do months if not years in jail. An finally get a bond or get released with specifications like house arrest. Come on bro an yes I've been to jail more than I'd like to tell you. An yes I've been to prison. Just wanted to let you know ppl can do a lot of time an still have house arrest.

I too, had a similar experience, after the mags shut down, I was left out to dry, money soon ran out , I had no choice but to turn to a life of crime and drugs to cope....Then one day at the crack of dawn, after fighting off the shadow people all night, I decided to check the surf.
Low and behold, there was the man that ruined my life, Matt Warshaw. In a rage, I strapped him to the roof of my V dub, and drove straight to northern Nevada. I had heard of this place called burning man (very deceptive title) , I pulled in and asked where the body burning pit was...Next thing I know I'm fighting off 4 Boy Georges and some hairy pitted pro noun'ers.
In the end, I got 15 years , but only served 20 for good behavior.
So yeah, crime don't pay.....
Your aerial's are 🔥....you cat's are living a dream.. enjoy your youth and realize that longevity is everything in surfing..

I started watching your videos over a year ago when I was living in San Diego. Funny enough I got to your videos by way of Ben Gravy videos. Then I saw you were a SD Local I thought that was awesome. Been watching you ever since. Sadly 6 months ago we ended up moving out of San Diego, the Padres traded my step son to another team. A few weeks ago I was showing my step son your videos from Blacks on a big swell. He was like, "fuck I met that guy, he is pretty sick". So Clev says Hi. Sidenote, I broke one of my boards at Blacks. That place can be unreal.
I've been surfing skating and snowboarding off and on most of my life. Also a little bit of on road and off road motorcycles and even bicycles. I'm not great at any of them. But I have fun and refuse to grow old. I'm 52 years old, and like you I have the injury list to prove it. Living in the mountains of North Carolina now. I can still go snowboarding here, but I will miss Big Bear. No more surfing for a while. I will always look back at my surfing in SD as a huge highlight. I got in with 4 other surfers out there about my age and we had a fun little crew that surfed almost everyday. I wish i had the chance to meet you. Tell you that your inspiring people young and old. Even if I'm living far away now. Keep it up. Everyone has a story. Thanks for sharing yours.
Wow 15 years is a long time. I’ve been on dialysis for 15 years, we all joke that dialysis feels like a prison sentence. Ya, I’d like to know more about how you got through those years without going crazy. Hit me up if you ever come all the way up to Mendocino county.

scripps few and far between, but there was this one day long ago i drove by close to dark too late to surf but HAD to stop and watch, OMG pure glass long lined right freight train perfect barrels one after another no set lulls lots of side current a tough paddle but i am sure the guys out know the day... 8-10ft at 12 seconds no wind and unblemished.... another day to regret working
