Personally I think the Aug really shines when it has the 20inch barrel. Getting the full intend power of 5.56 with out the rifle being a bean poll is just awesome.
I bet clear Magpul mags will look great too. Ill probably go with Nato version. Watched Brandon Hereras video and he demonstrated that if you tap standard aug mag too hard , rounds might spill out inside of the receiver.
Oh the new smoke translucent Tmags would look dope! Also some of the colors offered by Lancer mags. Good idea! I think the NATO stock version will make the most sense for people in the US market cuz we all got gobs of AR mags already.
@EngineersArmory I agree, NATO is best choice if you have AR mags. And down the road if you feel like it, you can switch to standard Aug for 300 beans and 10 minutes of work 🫡
I’ve added the Corvus Defensio shell deflector is the bomb and the Ratworx metal sear improves the trigger greatly. I ran across a deal on a suppressed gas plug and spare stock. I run a Steiner M332 on my A3 NATO AUG. Love this rifle. I can wait to get the .300 BO suppressed barrel when it comes out. I run a Surefire Vampire V1 IR and white light single cell light where you mount yours. Enjoyed your video.
Sounds like a slick setup! The 300blk version will be really cool! With the ratworx sear, some dry graphite, and the spring upgrade I was really pleased how nice the trigger came out - exceeded my expectations. Thanks for watching and commenting!
love my aug, the trigger being kinda crap is an issue way overblown by the internet . the trigger is kinda shitty but it has almost no bearing on how the aug shoots / performs , mine being more accurate than d.i ar's with low end match grade FCGs
Agreed! The factory trigger was not nearly as bad as people made it out to be. For me personally it did affect my accuracy when shooting sight in groups at 100 yards. With the work I did to the trigger it made it much easier.
@ 13:10 The stock trigger isn't nice but one thing to remember is that the whole rifle was designed to be operated with heavy winter gloves. One thing I'd want on an Aug is an A3-CQC kit, that thing looks super tidy.
Agreed on the trigger. Its also more of a battle rifle, not a precision instrument. Also the original trigger was two stage, first stage was semi, then pull it back more for auto, I am sure they wanted it heavy with a distinct stage between the firing modes. The A3-CQC kit does look sick!
Fantastic presentation👍👍 now add a Steyr L9-A2 MF 9mm pistol to your carry gear. On sale now at BERELI in Fla.. That's how I landed here because of my Steyr pistol research. Great job describing your process. The Australian video is great. Every AUG owner should watch and adhere to the instruction. Shoot safe✌️. 72 male, New Hampshire 🇺🇲
The L9-A2 is a cool pistol but not really on my list of ones to buy. I appreciate the kind words. I love the AUG. Its a fantastic design that was way ahead of its time! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh thats interesting! My guess would be they installed their reduced power spring kit in the trigger pack. As for the take up - not sure. Maybe a new trigger design - or possibly using the Ratworx sear? Thanks for sharing!
@@CountryRacing186 Between the Ratworx sear, and upgraded trigger spring kit, the trigger is really quite good for a bullpup. Highly recommend the upgrades!
Yeah I was on the V1 waitlist for a good month or two before I got the notification it was in stock. Still about $100. And for the reasons I lay out in the video I'm a big salty about the price and functionality of it. They had an opportunity to really tune the inlet port size for suppressor use (instead of just venting more gas off - which will make it was louder). Also not including the position 2 (adverse) even though they had the room for it also sucks. I just looked at the one available on the Steyr USA site. It looks the same. Same port sizes and locations. This one was not listed on the Steyr site when I was looking for it. Only the one on the V1 site was available.
@@strelokblackburn4651 Oh interesting. Not impressed with the V1 gas plug. No adverse position even though it has space for it kinda sucks. Its nice that the Steyr one does. Also I don't know why but i thought the V1 plug was a factory steyr part... maybe its not.
Well I'll have to try it when I go shooting next time. But the forst 2 settings the holes line up, and the in gr setting, looks like it the hole lines up to the vent hole on the normal setting.
Very useful information, thank you. I’ve bought my AUG used, and it runs Wolf steel case just fine with a ptr vent 3 suppressor on normal gas setting. Im not sure what the previous owner did with the gun but Im pretty sure those variables are unexpected of an AUG. Since it works so well I was thinking of dropping the $250-$400 to upgrade the trigger with red springs, ratworx sear, arid trigger, and graphene lube.
When people bitch about the trigger I remind them that these things are meant to go to war. They’re not $4,000 safe queens that just come out to compete in three gun competitions.
I was suprised that the factory trigger didnt seem as bad to me as everyone makes it out to be. It was just heavy. Not bad, totally usable and reliable. I will admit that to me (probably my lack of skill) that it was hard to not disrupt the sights while breaking the shot when shooting from a bench. I suppose the "worst" rifle trigger people in the states are most used to is a milspec AR trigger. However I'm a trigger snob and like to tinker so I couldn't leave it alone.
@@EngineersArmoryyeah it’s just a learning curve for the average American AR shooter. Just like the overall manual of arms for it is. It took me almost a year of consistent training to override decades of AR-muscle memory when I first bought my AUG lol
sorry if this is a dumb question. since this is the nato ver and uses ar15 mags, can this also use the original clear looking aug mags as well? love your vids!
You would be amazed what is compatible on these rifles....between the original Austrian AUGs, the A3 M1s, and the MSARs..... if you're willing to put in the effort. I have developed some amazing and reliable platforms between these three rifles that were purposely never meant for compatibility.
I have same. You got one hell of a deal tho!😱 I just put a can and appropriate gas plug on mine. Oh yeah, and the qd takedown pin in rear. Alot of haters out there lol. I think it sic an slick. Take er easy brotha.🫡 -Also agree, i dont think the triggers that bad at all myself. Which IS kinda nuts now that i see how the linkage works.🤔😳
Personally I think the Aug really shines when it has the 20inch barrel. Getting the full intend power of 5.56 with out the rifle being a bean poll is just awesome.
Totally agree! That is the biggest advantage of the platform. A 20" barrel in this wouldn't be much longer than a short-barreled AR-15.
I bet clear Magpul mags will look great too. Ill probably go with Nato version. Watched Brandon Hereras video and he demonstrated that if you tap standard aug mag too hard , rounds might spill out inside of the receiver.

I just received my a3m2 NATO yesterday. The trigger is very light and almost no take up. Maybe they changed something in m2 version.

v1 is always out of stock, steyr usa sells a suppressor gas plug, they seem to be in stock the few times ive checked, for 109 bones

For some reason it won't let my reply but it seem similar
@dltz just looked at the steyr suppressors plug, an it it appears to have the adverse port in it.

I wanted to see you grind away the extra material with Dremel…
