Check out an update to this video here! ua-cam.com/video/NjqshCh6YLg/v-deo.html The Xbox 360 can only use USB storage devices up to 2TB in size. Larger drives are not supported.
Well thank god i have RGH/JTAG with Xex menu and you can play any game from any external hdd if formated to fat32 no limits , Also JTAG/RGH rips don't have the random padding in the game to fill up space so games have smaller size even to half
I bought a 2tb drive that I formatted with Aomei Partition Assistant to fat 32 and my rgh still won't read it. It lists as unformatted. Please help! I've been trying to get it to work for forever!
None of this helped me, but I figured out how to fix mine myself. If your harddrive isn't even showing up try doing this, 1 Take everything off from the harddrive, either delete it or move it to your computer or something. 2 Plug it into your computer and create a file for every data category your xbox has and name it appropriately (Games and Apps, Music, Demos, profile, ect.) 3 Plug it into your xbox again, it might need a few seconds or so to pop up 4 It should say it needs formatted to be xbox storage, like flash drives and stuff do, and prompts you to do so. Do it. That should work.
Damn, you had to do all that? I took off my Xbox one external solid state drive because I have like 2 more spares, anyways it didn't recognize it until I selected the hard drive then selected format from the Xbox 360.
thanks mate, you solved my problems. Did not know that you could connect a external usb drive like on xbox one. I tough i was forced to buy an original microsoft hdd drive that you connect on top. For now i have ha original hdd drive connected at the top with disk space 10 gb. Thanks again now i can go buy an external drive at 1 TB and connect. What speed of the usb do i need? 2.0 or 3.0?
Thanks for the info, Mr. We are now in 2018 and want to know what's the capacity limit for external storage devices on Xbox 360? Is still 2TB or higer?
If I hardmod it, can I play games externally? Like: - backup disc to 360 drive - basic format external hard drive - copy games from 360 drive to external drive - delete game from 360 drive to test, and play
Thank you for this very helpful video. Do you know if you can have a game installed on the external drive, but play the save data from the main HDD? Also, is there really any reason to use a 3,5" 7200 RPM drive (with its own power supply) instead of a 2,5" 5400 RPM HDD? The additional speed through USB 2.0 is probably minimal, but maybe it's better to not have power drawn from the console, especially a non-slim model with RRoD risk? I remember that Nintendo recommended an HDD with its own power supply if you wanted more space on the Wii U.
Glad the video helped! Yes, you can keep your save data on a different drive than where the game is installed. No issues there. In my opinion, the only reason to use a faster drive with its own power supply would be because you already own it, and don't want to go out and buy a new drive. Otherwise, any speed gains are negligible. The RRoD comes from a flaw that isn't related to USB power draw. Don't sweat it and keep it simple if you're buying a new external HDD.
@@Filmire Thanks for your reply. I just thought that the USB power draw might help induce RRoD due to more power = more heat. I see that it's usually just 1-6W, so I guess it wouldn't make much of a difference anyway.
If your Xbox is updated to the latest firmware, it can use up to 2TB from any drive connected to it. Internal vs external is your choice: a small handful of games require an internal drive, but you'll find an external USB drive to be more cost effective than an official Xbox internal drive.
I don't know the exact history of Xbox 360 version updates. This feature was added 5 years ago. Unless there's some reason you're avoiding updating your Xbox 360, you can just update to the latest firmware.
Hey bro. Just a quick question and I hope that you could answer. With this new update that would allownus to use up to 2TB external HDD, does this only allow you to install games off the external storage or will this also allow you to save or download DLC's direct to the external drive? Reason why I'm asking is I'm trying to consider this as an option instead of buying a new internal HDD for the Xbox 360. My main concern is with the DLC's though. thanks.
Hello, is an external ssd the fastest form of storage compared to a usb flash drive, and how much better is it than an internal hdd, without any modding? Thanks
Today, an SSD will give you the best performance at a tradeoff of being more expensive than an HDD. Check out the follow-up video I created which shows a brief speed comparison between an HDD and flash storage; it's linked in this video's description.
yeah my current drive is only 500gb, i have over 200 games on it. I'd prefer to keep my 360 games away from xbox one for now and running out of space so might get myself a TB

+Jeferson Melo I have tried a Western Digital My Passport, a newer Seagate Backup Plus, and a Buffalo MiniStation Plus. They all worked just fine on my Xbox 360.

Hey i bought battlefield 4 for 360 it needs hardrive so i connected my exxternal hardrive but it wont download does it only need hard drive not external?
Hey so I bought an XBOX 360 recently off of my friend and it has 60 GB internal storage. So I do want to get an external Hard Drive. But I want to get one that can connect via USB. I also own a PS4 which I bought a 4TB Seagate external USB hard drive. So it works by literally connecting the USB hard drive to a USB slot on my PS4 and then just format the external storage. So if I was to buy an external USB hard drive for my XBOX 360 would I be able to do the same thing and literally just insert into a USB slot and format or do I need to do extra stuff?
Right, you can just connect and format it. This is what I show in this video. I recommend also checking out my recent follow-up video which is linked in the description.
Ah okay brilliant. I've been seeing videos online where to use a USB external hard drive, you have to format it using a computer to FAT32 which I didn't know what it was. But that's good to hear that I can just buy a e.g. 250GB USB external hard drive and just simply connect it to my Xbox and just format it in settings
Unlikely an HDD would be physically damaged from a power loss. If it's in the middle of writing data and it loses power, there's a chance data on the drive would be corrupted. That's something that could occur on any storage device.
So my old hard drive was a 500gb and I could watch movies off there and then it died after having that hard drive for years. So baught a new one today wich is a 1.5Tb hard drive and my xbox360 dosent pick it up on my apps folder on my Xbox to view photos or videos. I've formatted my hard drive and it's still not picking it up for some reason. Any help on what to do?
Hello! Thank you for the instructional video. I just want to confirm something. Do I need to partition the Western Digital My Passport Ultra (2 TB) on my PC before I try formatting it on the XBox 360 console? I just want to use the new drive for the Xbox and nothing more. Thank you!
I got a question for you can it go up more like 3TB or more like put 2 2TB flash USB or only one 2TB flash USB because it can’t read than or something happened that won’t only allow it to read it than 2TB?
The Xbox 360 supports USB drives that are 2 TB in size or less, and only two individual USB drives at the same time. That makes for a total of 4 TB of USB storage. Please see the update video linked in this video's description for more details.
So I have the seagate 1TB SSD for my Xbox 360 games and I can’t install a lot of my games because they’re not backward compatible on the Series X, if I get a new hard drive (2TB) install those games on a 360 then connect the HDD to my series X, will those games show up installed still?
My understanding is that drives formatted for Xbox 360 aren't supported on Xbox series S|X, but I don't have a series console to confirm with. If you have another spare USB drive (a flash drive, for example), you could give it a try before making a purchase.
I have an Xbox 360 E 4GB which I want to boost up to 2TB using the Seagate Game Drive for Xbox, will my console give me all that storage to save games that I purchase from the Xbox 360 marketplace or games with gold? I kneed to know man since I've already ordered it by being told the drive will give me all 2TB to expand my storage any info on this is well appreciated, thanks in advance.
I bought the 4TB Seagate because Amazon and Seagate bith said it would work on the 360. It doesn't =(. When I go to format it on the Xbox. It gives me a msg saying can't format it
Does the external hard drive have to be a 2.0 or 3.0 portable hard drive? I was thinking of getting a a western digital my passport cause I'm not sure what seagate ones will work
chizzywink Either a USB 2.0 or 3.0 should work. (USB 3.0 drives are backwards compatible with USB 2.0). I have both a Western Digital My Passport drive as well as a newer Seagate Backup Plus drive and they both worked without issues. A previous commenter did report issues with a Seagate Backup Plus he bought though and ended up exchanging it for a Western Digital.
I wanna know how long the formatting process takes because I just formatted a External Hard drive to fat32 on my pc and then I went on my console and it still needs to be formatted and it’s just half way with the load symbol and it’s been about 20min but I’m curious if I’m stuck here or it is actually formatting it
+Lee Case Sorry, unless the USB device you're using has a write-protection mode that is on, I am not sure I can help. Do you have another USB flash drive or hard drive you can try out?
+Quirkwolves For installed disc-based games, you still need the disc in the Xbox's optical drive. The system performs a license check when the game starts up and then runs the game from whatever storage device it is installed on.
Someone please help!!! I just bought a WD My Passport 4TB USB 3.0 and I can't get it to work!! I can't format the drive, I keep getting a simple error..
There's no error code unfortunately. I did make 2 (2)TB partitions and that didn't work either. I called Microsoft and they said I would need to get a new drive. I'm just going to return it 😩
No option format hard drive on my console. I got 500gb of toshiba canvio. I formatted it to FAT32. When connect to the console, the console ask me to configure and maximum capacity that can be recognize is only 32gb!!! How to increase recognized capacity???
I don't have an Internal HDD only 1tb USB HDD but when I try to use it as a system storage device like for games and stuff instead of a tb I get 32 gb I don't know what to do plz help
yeah but by now you should have gotten the update that allows you to use up to 2 tB. I mean it has been over a year. So if you didnt get that update is it REALLY resolved? Youre going to blow through that 8gb in another few days and then youll be back to square one.
+weaponutjoe Yeah, you can still connect it and use it on a PC afterwards. Copying files to the drive doesn't seem to affect using it on the Xbox. You can always just completely reformat the drive should you decide you want to dedicate it to a computer at some point.
Will you get into trouble by doing this and can you transfer full downloaded games and games that you have to install in order to play by disk e.g. COD Ghost?
+Jamie B This is an officially supported feature by Microsoft, so there's nothing wrong with doing this. In the video I explain that installed disc based games cannot be transferred and must be reinstalled. Digitally purchased games can be moved as you see fit.
Filmire ahh right I see, thanks for the help man :), by the way is there like a limit of stuff you can transfer e.g. games, movies, tv programmes, etc or can you transfer unlimited stuff :)
+Jamie B You're only limited by the storage capacity of the external drive, or 2 Terabytes, whichever is smallest. There's no artificial limit on number of games stored or anything like that.
Filmire ahh right I see so, if I used like a 1 terabyte external hard drive, I can transfer stuff that could hold up to 1 terabyte or close to 1 terabyte?
+John Calmerin Any USB 2.0 (or above) hard drive should work. I prefer portable style drives that don't require an external power supply. Please check the video description for the hard drives I have personally tested.
I can't guarantee your outcome, but I haven't experienced any negatives when using my USB HDD. A lot depends on the quality of the HDD you use. If yours is functioning properly you should be fine.
The 4GB console has built-in flash storage. If you remove the HDD from a console that came with a 250 GB HDD, you just won't have any storage on the system.
You'll be able to play disc-based Xbox 360 games, but unless you have a storage device (HDD, flash drive, memory card) you won't be able to save your game, download DLC, etc.
I am new to Xbox, I am more into PlayStation. But, I wanted to give Xbox a try. My question is - What if I buy Xbox 360 4GB ones? I can install games on the External Hard Drive? and play it? How does this thing work? Obviously 4gb for games like halo is stupid. So, can you answer this asap? :/
I'm not sure what you mean by downloading xbox 360 games using a PC. If you're asking if you can still connect it to your PC to store files, yes, you can use it for both your Xbox 360 and PC without reformatting.
+Eric Baker You just need an internet connection. You don't need an Xbox Live (Gold) account. More info here: support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/system-updates-info
Paulo Garcez When compared with just playing games from the optical drive, there's a speed improvement, yes. When comparing with an internal HDD, I can't say I notice a difference. This is totally unscientific though, I haven't timed it or anything.
Filmire Thanks I have a phat Xbox with 500 gb HDD, but the console itself is a little bit loud, and thinking of buying an Xbox Slim, now is not worthwhile buying 500 HDD it's a lot cheaper to buy a 1TB USB HDD
+Filmire I've put over 200 videos on my hard drive but only 185 will show up, not to mention the video files that have a circle with a diagonal line icon to the left of it.
+Eric Baker Hey Eric, the Xbox 360 will only recognize FAT32 formatted partitions. If you format the drive from the Xbox Dashboard UI (like I do in the video), it does this for you. Trying to optimize further is beyond my video's scope and I don't know much more about it.
Hey m8, whats the shmup your playing at the end? I've got tons of shmups on my jtagged 360 my m8 copied so I've probably got it but yeh just curious! :)
The Xbox 360 is compatible with USB 2.0 (or higher) drives of up to 2 TB in size. I don't have experience with products from AliExpress, so I can't comment on them specifically.
+GuEnavEre408 If you format a drive using the Xbox 360, it formats it using the FAT32 file system, yes. The system doesn't explicitly give you that information though.
Not much by itself, since it's not officially supported. There are guides out there for installing unofficial off-the-shelf drives in an Xbox 360 if you'd like to check them out. Personally, I think the USB drive is the best path right now since it's cost effective, easy, and officially supported.
Hey i need help with my Western Digital My Passport Ultra (2 TB) Hard drive, I have formatted it before and all the games that required a 360 hard drive would work on it, but now all the games that require a 360 hard drive are saying "360 hard drive required" even though its still formatted to FAT32(360 Format)!!! Please help
See the problem with that is that the games that require an internal hard drive used to work with the external one, but now they dont want to(Battlefield, Titanfall Etc.)
+Xbox Aero Perhaps the Xbox 360 you're using had an internal hard drive that has since been removed, or you are now trying to play on a different Xbox 360? If the game requires an internal hard drive, a USB hard drive cannot be used in its place.
+Aditya Gupta Any USB HDD is supposed to work, but there are a lot of them out there. You can check the video description for the ones I have personally tested.
Any USB 2 or 3 HDD will work. Hard drive manufacturers are always updating their product designs, so look for a drive that matches your budget, desire for aesthetics, and is from a reputable company. I recently bought a new drive for my Wii U and am happy with it. It'll work for an Xbox 360. Here's the link: www.amazon.com/dp/B07VTFN6HM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_M-FlFbCKH1Y4Q
He just said yes. -_- But not all games work on it. Some of them need to be on an internal Hard drive for it to work properly. USB will be to slow. Just depends really.

The Xbox 360 can only use USB storage devices up to 2TB in size. Larger drives are not supported.

I kneed to know man since I've already ordered it by being told the drive will give me all 2TB to expand my storage any info on this is well appreciated, thanks in advance.
Yes, you'll be able to use the full storage capacity for whatever you'd like.
I bought the 4TB Seagate because Amazon and Seagate bith said it would work on the 360. It doesn't =(. When I go to format it on the Xbox. It gives me a msg saying can't format it
Perhaps Amazon/Seagate are referring to the Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X? Only drives up to 2TB will work on the Xbox 360.
@@Filmire Ya. I took a screenshot off their website. They say it works but at the bottom in the tiniest font it says "up to 2TB on the 360"
Do you know if I can install all bf4 game in one of those hdd? Help! Good video
Hello i have a 1tb from acasis and its not showing up even tho i didnt that can you help me
I have an xbox 360 4gb version... Can i do this to my console... And play all the games that requires hdd storage for installation?
If a game is labeled "Hard drive required", then it needs an internal hard drive. Otherwise there's no reason you couldn't do this with your console.
A previous commenter did report issues with a Seagate Backup Plus he bought though and ended up exchanging it for a Western Digital.
thanks bud but can i use a 85mbps read speed 64gb memory card with an adapter on this? plz do reply
I wanna know how long the formatting process takes because I just formatted a External Hard drive to fat32 on my pc and then I went on my console and it still needs to be formatted and it’s just half way with the load symbol and it’s been about 20min but I’m curious if I’m stuck here or it is actually formatting it
Also it’s a 1tb Toshiba HDD external device using 3.0 usb
Spoke too soon literally just finished as I typed that
Glad you got it figured out 👍
Do I need to do a transfer license if it's going on a new hard drive? Thanks
No need for license transfers when moving content between storage devices.
If I do this will it download games like gta 5 and call of duty bo 3 wich required hard drives?
Games that required an internal hard drive still require one. Please see the video description for more info and a link to an update video.
my console gets a write error saying cannot copy data due to write protection, can you tell me how i get past this?
+Lee Case Sorry, unless the USB device you're using has a write-protection mode that is on, I am not sure I can help. Do you have another USB flash drive or hard drive you can try out?
Do you still have to have the game disc in your Xbox 360 to run it, or can you run the game from the Seagate drive ?
+Quirkwolves For installed disc-based games, you still need the disc in the Xbox's optical drive. The system performs a license check when the game starts up and then runs the game from whatever storage device it is installed on.
Someone please help!!! I just bought a WD My Passport 4TB USB 3.0 and I can't get it to work!! I can't format the drive, I keep getting a simple error..
I'm not sure what error you're seeing, but the the trouble is likely because the Xbox 360 can only support up to 2 TB drives.
There's no error code unfortunately. I did make 2 (2)TB partitions and that didn't work either. I called Microsoft and they said I would need to get a new drive. I'm just going to return it 😩
can i use battlefield 4 on a 2tb hard drive if it comes ssaying usb storage device
It's my understanding that Battlefield 4 requires an internal hard drive. So no, a USB hard drive won't work.
Destiny says require hard drive will the external hard drive work or the only way is by internal hard drive
Please see the video description. Destiny requires an internal hard drive.
@@Filmire thank you so much
Will it work if I use 2TB Seagate SATA Drive (PC's HDD)?
No option format hard drive on my console. I got 500gb of toshiba canvio. I formatted it to FAT32. When connect to the console, the console ask me to configure and maximum capacity that can be recognize is only 32gb!!! How to increase recognized capacity???
Fazrie Fazrie me too
I don't have an Internal HDD only 1tb USB HDD but when I try to use it as a system storage device like for games and stuff instead of a tb I get 32 gb I don't know what to do plz help
Thanks I resolved it I just used a regular 8 gb USB as the system drive for updates
yeah but by now you should have gotten the update that allows you to use up to 2 tB. I mean it has been over a year. So if you didnt get that update is it REALLY resolved? Youre going to blow through that 8gb in another few days and then youll be back to square one.
I have a tb
After formatting the external terabyte drive to the 360, is the drive still usable with computers?
+Jamie B Yes, that's correct!
Can I play Destiny with an external hard drive? Because it says it requires a Hard Drive.
+Zeroiden Destiny on the Xbox 360 requires an internal HDD. Here's a little more info: www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/69007167/0/0
can you use any hard drive?
pls help pick one 1-2 terabyte?
what brand WD? Sandisk? Seagate?
+John Calmerin Any USB 2.0 (or above) hard drive should work. I prefer portable style drives that don't require an external power supply. Please check the video description for the hard drives I have personally tested.
+Filmire Thanks
Are you able to record gameplay on it ?
No, the XBox 360 does not support recording its own gameplay.
I'm gonna buy Xbox 360 4gb if add this USB external hard drive of about 250gb will it work properly without any lags and errors or hangs
I can't guarantee your outcome, but I haven't experienced any negatives when using my USB HDD. A lot depends on the quality of the HDD you use. If yours is functioning properly you should be fine.
tnx
Has XBOX created an update to use more than just a 2TB external hard drive?
No, 2TB is still the max. I doubt this will change.
Does it work with the Xbox 360 Elite (the Jasper model)?
This will work with all Xbox 360 models.
do games generally perform better on usb hdd than they would on a usb stick?
+Kaito .Link I couldn't say for sure. It would depend on the specific USB flash drives and USB HDDs.
Filmire ok cool . i have 500gb usb external hdd . it's plenty of room for my 360 digital collection
+Kaito .Link so your saying its better to get external HHD to use as storage??
hie .. i have a xbox 360 250 gb ... i just want to know if i remove the 250 gb hdd .. it will just became like a normal 4 gb version or what .. ?
The 4GB console has built-in flash storage. If you remove the HDD from a console that came with a 250 GB HDD, you just won't have any storage on the system.
+Filmire so what ddoes that mean ... will i be able to play games on it or not ?
+Akash DEEP the reason is i want to keep the hdd from my old xbox before selling it
You'll be able to play disc-based Xbox 360 games, but unless you have a storage device (HDD, flash drive, memory card) you won't be able to save your game, download DLC, etc.
Yes, yes you can.
+Henrique Lacerda Costa Wow, thanks alot! :D
can i download xbox 360 games using a pc and this hard drive and at the same time i can use it to save games in it?
I'm not sure what you mean by downloading xbox 360 games using a PC. If you're asking if you can still connect it to your PC to store files, yes, you can use it for both your Xbox 360 and PC without reformatting.
+Filmire ok thank you so much
Do you need xbox live for the update or just a connection to the internet?
+Eric Baker You just need an internet connection. You don't need an Xbox Live (Gold) account. More info here: support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/system/system-updates-info
Hi! Do you know of to turn off a hard drive connected through USB to the 360?
As far as I know, if a USB hard drive is connected to your Xbox 360, it'll always be on when the console is on.
When loading games is it on the same speed or do you notice any difference?
Paulo Garcez When compared with just playing games from the optical drive, there's a speed improvement, yes. When comparing with an internal HDD, I can't say I notice a difference. This is totally unscientific though, I haven't timed it or anything.
Filmire Thanks I have a phat Xbox with 500 gb HDD, but the console itself is a little bit loud, and thinking of buying an Xbox Slim, now is not worthwhile buying 500 HDD it's a lot cheaper to buy a 1TB USB HDD
sir if i purchase any wd external hard disk 1tb for my xbox360(E) any xbox360 support the hard disk
+charan preet Once a hard drive has been formatted by an Xbox 360, another Xbox 360 will recognize it, yes.
@@Filmire is your console jtagged or not?
No, it is not.
Does the xbox 360 use all file formats, or just certain ones?
+Eric Baker I'm using a 1TB western digital external Hard Drive.
+Eric Baker It will use the Fat32 file system.
does this update allow you to put up to 1tb of movies?
+Eric Baker Yes, you can use the extra storage space however you'd like.
+Filmire I've put over 200 videos on my hard drive but only 185 will show up, not to mention the video files that have a circle with a diagonal line icon to the left of it.
+Eric Baker Sorry Eric, I don't have the knowledge to be able to help you further with that one. Hope you figure it out though.
+Filmire What file system should i use on formatting, exFAT, or NTFS, and which allocation unit size would be best?
+Eric Baker Hey Eric, the Xbox 360 will only recognize FAT32 formatted partitions. If you format the drive from the Xbox Dashboard UI (like I do in the video), it does this for you. Trying to optimize further is beyond my video's scope and I don't know much more about it.
What format can be used to connect the machine ?
Hey m8, whats the shmup your playing at the end? I've got tons of shmups on my jtagged 360 my m8 copied so I've probably got it but yeh just curious! :)
will this work on a 1tb external hdd from aliexpress?
The Xbox 360 is compatible with USB 2.0 (or higher) drives of up to 2 TB in size. I don't have experience with products from AliExpress, so I can't comment on them specifically.
Can play the game in usb without xbox live? Newbie here...
Kodomo Lion Hey Kodomo, you don't need an Xbox Live account to use a USB hard drive, no.
how long does it take to format
Where do you format to fat32? In the xbox menu?
+GuEnavEre408 If you format a drive using the Xbox 360, it formats it using the FAT32 file system, yes. The system doesn't explicitly give you that information though.
Do all external HDD's work with the xbox?
Any USB 2 or higher drive that is 2TB or less. Please see the video description for details.
What happens if you put that hard drive inside your Xbox?
Not much by itself, since it's not officially supported. There are guides out there for installing unofficial off-the-shelf drives in an Xbox 360 if you'd like to check them out. Personally, I think the USB drive is the best path right now since it's cost effective, easy, and officially supported.
you can install games to a USB drive ?
I thought you could only use the internal drive for that
Yes.
Does it work with 2TB flash drives?
It should, yes.
Can you use any external flash drive or hard drive
+Chad Lane Any USB 2.0 (or higher) drive should work. Everything I have tried has worked without issue at least.
Thanks
it will work in xbox360 arcade?
Yep!
So can I get a 2 terabytes? Will it work x
Shure honey
Hey i need help with my Western Digital My Passport Ultra (2 TB) Hard drive, I have formatted it before and all the games that required a 360 hard drive would work on it, but now all the games that require a 360 hard drive are saying "360 hard drive required" even though its still formatted to FAT32(360 Format)!!! Please help
Some games (such as Destiny) require an internal hard drive; a USB hard drive doesn't replace that.
I haven't been playing on a different 360, but it really sucks that this is happening :\
Can we use any company hard drive?
+Aditya Gupta Any USB HDD is supposed to work, but there are a lot of them out there. You can check the video description for the ones I have personally tested.
does it work as a usb drive or a hard drive
+Nick Cromer The Xbox will detect it as an external USB storage device.
Eu tenho um Xbox clássico tenho como colocar HD 3t
Eu brasileiro você da onde é seu vídeo são muito louco valeu e nois
does it require to be fat 32 format?
+Akash Srinivas The Xbox will format the drive as FAT32, yes.
+Filmire just to be crystal clear, i can buy a hard drive in NTFS format and the xbox 360 will convert it to FAT32 ?
+Edward Kerney Yes, that's correct.
do i have to change it format into fat32 ?
+Bain Hansly Repato The Xbox will format the drive FAT32 for you.
+Filmire thanks for the information
+Filmire do i have to J-tag my console?
No
Filmire thanks
What external hard drive do I use?
Please see the video description for a list of hard drives I have tested with.
Filmire I did I searched the western digital one up it came with multiple results is there a certain one
To buy
Any USB 2 or 3 HDD will work. Hard drive manufacturers are always updating their product designs, so look for a drive that matches your budget, desire for aesthetics, and is from a reputable company.
I recently bought a new drive for my Wii U and am happy with it. It'll work for an Xbox 360. Here's the link:

Filmire thank you so much!!
can I format 2tb hard drive.
He just said yes. -_- But not all games work on it. Some of them need to be on an internal Hard drive for it to work properly. USB will be to slow. Just depends really.
