Wow, looking great. Clever trick with the cardboard template.
I'm jealous lol, you and your t-shirt weather, getting out and planting stuff. We are waiting for an ice storm tonight with 40mph winds.
We really don't get out into the gardens till early/mid may. But there are a few things to plant soon.
That's quite a fixed blade you seem to be carring. I'm more of a tactical folder gal myself. It's such a part of my EDC (every day carry) I actually feel weird without it.
Gardening is such joy, thanks for taking us along today. It helped cheer things up on a rainy crappy saturday.
Oh don't be too jealous, we must not be too far from each other bc we have the same storm tonight (40 mph winds, freezing rain - the winds started about an hour ago) and our last frost date is in may - those are just crops we're lucky enough to put out before the last frost (as long as it's not going to be under 20F). I carry a small 4 inch folder in my back pocket at all times - I got the larger knife for when we were back country camping a lot and now I like to carry it when it's just my son and I out (a little extra security lol). Gardening definitely brings so much joy to our lives :) I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend - even if your stuck inside :) ~Stephanie
Love your t-shirt...
:) Have a great day! ~Stephanie
Looking good Stephanie, I like your idea on the wire around your raised beds, I may have to do this with mine as the hens love getting in my raised beds lol!! Sure enough like your trellis for the peas, vertical growing is the way to go in my opinion!! Thanks for sharing my friend and your son is getting so big!! Have a great week!! Dan
Thank you! I'm all about the vertical gardening as well (pole species vs bush species). I'm going to try my squash on a trellis this year too so we'll see how that goes. He is getting big fast! lol Have a great week and thanks so much for watching! ~Stephanie
84 here today and 80 tomorrow then we crash 😟 Calling for heavy frost Monday and Tuesday. Your raised beds are looking really good. Going to be some great carrots, Onions and Radishes in them. Like the square foot gardening idea. Great job done on your pea garden. Let the fun begin! Thanks for the planting tour. Hope you folks have a great weekend. :-)
We all have to enjoy the weather while we can - our temps are dropping back down tonight, today was gorgeous, but now a storms on the way in - 40 mph winds and freezing rain, bleh! lol Thank you so much! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and God bless! ~Stephanie
You are certainly patient when planting. I am a bit more haphazard, yet have that luxury being the veggies I grow are a hobby. Looking forward to seeing the results.
Yea, I've convinced myself I need to take my time, I end up wasting way too many seeds other wise lol Thanks so much for watching! Hope all is well, enjoy the rest of your weekend! ~Stephanie
We had not heard of the different colored carrots, Interesting. Raising the trellis up for more height is a good idea! You guys are gonna have a great garden this year!
Thank you so much! I sure hope so :) I had heard about the different colored carrots here and there, but really got introduced to them when I started feeding my son solids. I'm just hoping they all grow in ok. Enjoy the rest of your night! ~Stephanie
Taller walls with more bed compost. You can then have holes in the sides of the boards, for growing vertical wall herbs etc. Still have top surface for the vegs. All easy to pick and water, no more bending over and back/leg pains.
We had thought about that, but it can take a lot to fill that kind of thing. We have talked about using hot beds or hugelkultur in the future, but now is not the time. Thanks for the ideas and have a great night! ~Stephanie
Great stuff n a great kid.
Thank you so much! Have an awesome day ~Stephanie
