I appreciate this as I am American with Punjabi husband and will listen to everyone of these lessons to learn and teach our kids although they won’t be in the Sikh community because they look down so badly on mixed marriage that is not for immigration. I still want our kids to be proud of their roots.
I really appreciate you trying to learn, if your kids looks down on mixed marriage you have to show them how amazing it is not just saying it. Additionally ask God to bless ur kids with right mindset and tree is weak without strong roots.

If the 'maha mantar' is 'ek onkaar gurparsad', not Anyone living on this planet can know gain or even find 'ek onkaar' unless he/she recieves gains that divine knowledge (parsad) from The Guru. Then none of Us including yourselves can do Anything give Anything or know Anything unless The Guru blesses you that in your life. Q. Without Guru then can you or Anyone else on the planet give Anything Divine from Sikhism to another? No Period. 'Karmi aapo aapni k nehre k duur'!!!
