Bodycam DUI Arrest - Drunk Woman with No License and No Insurance Hits 4 Parked Cars and Drives Off

- On February 5, 2023, the Mount Vernon Police Department received numerous 911 calls about a hit and run traffic collision. All of the officers were at the police station at the time, so while some units responded to the crash site, one officer stayed behind and reviewed the city camera system. He was able to locate a light color SUV with substantial front-end damage driving near the scene of the accident. Officers were able to locate the vehicle involved in the hit and run at a nearby apartment building. Soon, thereafter, the owner of the vehicle, a 22-year-old woman, came outside and confessed that she had been drinking and was the driver of the vehicle when the accident occurred. She was placed under arrest for hit-and-run and was transported to the police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test (EBT). The result of the EBT was 0.16% BAC. She was charged with DUI, Hit & Run (4 counts), driving without a license, and driving without insurance.
She basically told rhe cop she passed out drunk at the wheel and crashed and left, no defense for you

@@usenan Not everyone likes to drive. I'd bet that a lot of muricans would rather use bicycle or public transit if those were quicker than driving. In many european countries it's not uncommon for walking/bicycle routes to be fastest and cars have to go long way around.
So let me get this straight, she drives drunk with no insurance or license, hits 4 parked cars and runs.. only spends a few hours in jail and gets to go home. Meanwhile the owners of the cars will have their insurance go up, have to pay a deductible to get them fixed (if possible) and be inconvenienced for days. As for Miss Dumb Drunk, she will probably get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again....just ridiculous 🤬

It's infuriating that someone who doesn't have a driver's license or car insurance chose to drive drunk, caused a crash, & fled the scene, but didn't go to jail for at least that night.

In 2017, I was awarded $16,000 of restitution from the drunk dirtbag that caused the accident I was in that totaled my car and caused this endlessly feeling loop of pure anxiety and inconvenience inducing bs. So far, I've gotten... hmm, let's see... carry the 5, multiple by 7... minus... oh wait, an entire two, $40 checks 😑 I tried to see what recourse I had, if any, and the exact thing I was told was, "well, we've tried calling him a few times, but he just doesn't want to answer 🤷♀️🤷♀️ We just have to hope he grows a better conscience and do the right thing. Sorry 🤷♀️🤷♀️" It's unbelievable how much these nutter butter drunks are coddled the entire way through!

Where did you get that mathematical equation from? There are so many factors that matter… How long ago she last had a drink (BAC climbs for a certain amount of time post last sip until it begins to fall), if she had food/water with her drink, the fact that it is a woman versus a man, etc. etc.

My "uninsured driver" cost is more than the basic coverage. This woman will never face the consequences of her actions, but the owners of the vehicles she hit will have to face increased insurance rates for years. It's infuriating.
I can’t even afford uninsured motorist coverage, so anyone that can, they are fortunate! I just hope so hard my car doesn’t get struck by someone like this!
There’s nothing else that I can sacrifice in my life to pay for that extra portion of the bill… As it is, I dropped home internet a couple of years ago (just use my cell phone for it), dropped my landline, and dropped cable TV.

@anti-ethniccleansing465 in my state it is mandatory. Every vehicle must have UM and liability. I understand about finances. I am a retired widow and I don't have cable, Netflix, Hulu, landlines, etc. My son pays for my phone. The economy is worse than I've ever seen.
My daughter was hit by an unisured drunk driver, twice, last year. Both idiots fled but were quickly caught, thanks to witnesses. Both crashes totalled her car. Neither driver faced any real consequences. It's so unfair.

Yup got rear ended by a guy that didn’t have insurance or his ID with him but he was so dumb or under the influence he wrote his information on the back of a work pay stub. My insurance went after him 😂 he tried to say get the car bumper done for free at his work 😂😂 he was so mad when we said we are having my insurance deal with him 😂

You tracked down somebody despite having uninsured motorist already on your insurance policy? What in the bloody point was that for? I would totally do that in my case because I can’t afford to pay for uninsured motorist on my insurance, but that sure is a hell of a lot of hassle to go through if you don’t have to worry about that part.

I have been hit FOUR times by uninsured drivers who were at fault and three of them didn’t have licenses. Working on getting my deductible back from the last one. POS! Pay your way!

I think some of these people say they don't remember what happened thinking it will somehow absolve them of responsibility since they "don't know" what happened.
That's one of the reasons why areas where they rely on the abstinance model for sex education tend to have the highest levels of teenage pregnancies. They often get the idea that If they use protection, that means they had planned to have sex which is wrong, but if they have sex in the heat of the moment, it's still wrong but not so bad because they hadn't planned it. It just sort of happened.
They really should start a dui/ uninsured prison, where they work for wages and have to pay the people they crashed into every cent until the damages are paid off!

In the UK you must carry a minimum of 3rd party only insurance so it covers other people. You then have 3rd part fire & theft for cheaper vehicles (so your car isn't covered in damage but other people are) or fully comprehensive where your vehicle is covered. You can also protect your no claims bonus. The thought that it's legal NOT to have 3rd party cover is wild.
@@ChrisAndCats In Pa, if you don't have insurance, you get 2 choices: 1. You volunteer to surrender your plate to the DMV or 2. The DMV (Department Of Motor Vehicles) sends the police/sheriff to collect your plate. I have full coverage on my vehicles and it's as much as a car payment...paying $500.00/year sounds like Heaven unless you are in a wreck and "at fault".

They should force a law If you get pulled over with no insurance automatic impound of the vehicle. This way, everyone is protected. It's ridiculous. We pay so much money for insurance. Druggings, while not completely unknown, are far less common than people seem to realize. When tests are done almost every result shows no drugs, just alcohol.
If she blacked out at did all of this driving, then why did no one ask about the friend that she dropped off, since she couldn't remember this part. The friend could of been ejected, ran over, left somewhere while this drunk blacked out driver was on blind auto pilot!
I was drugged once at a bar. I remember nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was weird. I have idea who drove me home to this day, that was twelve years ago. Trust no one in a bar, even a local one.

it won't apply in this case. .....that Tahoe looks pretty undrivable.....but with drivers without licenses, their cars shouls be impounded until their license is reinstated. (for most states that's 90 days....if they refuse a breath test it's a year.) Most ppl without a license drive anyways. If they borrow someone else's car and get caught, THAT car should be impounded...but the owner should be able to bail it out. What with towing and impound fees, lending cars would stop cold, and drunk driivng would be cut in half...drunks don't want to lose their cars.

should be required to "start over"...get all
the reading material, get a student license, practice parking, signaling, etc.

signing some papers & released w the promise of showing up to court for ALL THIS, but if you have a certain amount of weed or an addict has a user amount of drugs/paraphernalia on them they’re booked into county jail & have to bond out, likely charged w a felony, jail/prison time or probation for yrs, thousands of dollars in fees/court costs, labeled as a felon unable to rent/finance a home in most desirable neighborhoods..but they’re protecting & serving, the judges are so backwards, lawmakers, makes no sense.
