The only downside is they are saying it will also keep us in the drought here in California. Though I do love the idea of a long, mild Fall.

Even when there are issues there is still so much beauty in the garden.

So true, and mine usually has a lot of issues but I embrace the imperfections and roll with it. 😀It is so much more enjoyable that way.

Thank you for sharing your profuse garden with us!!! I have switched to container gardening due to age/time and yes, gophers! Your garden is so inspiring!!! What a beautiful place to read in/contemplate or exercise!!!

Thank you, I am slowly getting some deeper thus taller raised beds so as I age I won't find it necessary to bend down as much. I am really thinking hard on moving some of my current raised beds with the hardware cloth (wire mesh) into the Secret Garden and planting the majority of plants in them. The gophers seem to be getting worse and worse. I have also been seeing how I can attract gopher snakes.

Yes they are! Yesterday I found a few more plants they have eaten the roots off of, sadly they were plants I thought they would never eat as they are poisonous. 😠

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse Hello, what I found worked was to put the trap in the tunnel 1 foot from the opening. Anchor it with bricks or rocks so it stays upright and won't wobble over. Leave their opening uncovered. They hate light and air so will rush towards the opening and snap. Took a while to figure out some smart ones but got 3 last year. See how many comes back this season. Good luck.

Beautiful garden! Dont you love white Cone flower! I also love tall Phlox white Phlox, ive been looking for it in garden centers around me but its hard to find i guess ill have to buy it online. I love white flowers in general. I take it you have had sucess growing geraniums and other anuals from seed. I also start alot of plants under my grow lights in late winter. This year i want to do more anuals. I added pink Guara to my garden this fall it was on sale so i got 8 of them! I planted them around my blue spruce and the color contrast is gorgeous. I love Gaura especially when its planted in mass, its so ethereal and pixie dust like.. idk lol Anywayy Thanks so much for sharing your garden, glad i found your channel! You have a nice voice!

The gophers haven't eaten your irises? I had over 100 and 2 or 3 years ago my friend from Calaveritas came down and dug up half of them to line her walkway for her daughter's wedding. I now have maybe 20. The gophers have eaten most of them. They also ate my rose bush that I've had for at least 10 years. I've decided that whatever I grow in the ground will be poisonous or I'll plant in gopher cages. Daffodil bulbs, heliotrope, Foxglove, and others.

The gophers are bad and they have eaten on some of my iris in the past but not enough to kill all of them but last winter was a dilly and they wiped out large patches in my Secret Cottage Garden. Yes, I have replanted many things in pots then put them in the ground to protect them from the gophers as well as invested in gopher cages. I also made some of my own. I need to create a video of how I do that. It is tedious but it does work.

@@FlowerPatchFarmhouse I hope you do a video soon! 😊 I made cages out of hardware cloth to protect my broccoli from, I hate to even say it, a rat. I bought these electric scissors that really help cut through the wire quickly. I'm thinking of using the hardware cloth to make cages for gopher proofing my plants, too. Damn rodents!

It's sad how much ur chicken is wanting your attention and in your garden tour you never even show the chickens 🐔 💔 and I tried to find one of your UA-cams with the chickens and there's none so sad. Please be more nice to your chickens maybe you should UA-cam and see how lovely chickens are and they love there face rubed and love corn on the cobe 🌽 ~~~ let the chickens out well your in the garden like I see many others do with their chickens and even put them on your lap and pet. Your lucky to have a nice place to have a cute garden and having sweet chickens to!!! You seem like a sweet person and all just maybe think about making your chickens a little more happy Please 🙏 ❤🐔 some times we take things for granted how would you feel if you were locked away and your owner was talking and you keep saying hello hello and your owner didn't even come... chickens are so miss understood 😢 🐔😢🌽🍉🐔💓 grow some cat mint for your kitty cat so cute and playful 😄 😻 my cats love my garden cat mint fresh and in fall I cut it and hang dry it and give it to them all winter ! 😻😻 take care I'll keep watching can't wait tell summer!!!!! 🍅🥒🫑🌶🍆🥕🫛🧄🫘🍓🌹🌸🌻🐞🐝🦋

We contend with bears, coyotes and other animals that snap up chickens when they can. Having them out all the time is a death sentence. I do let them out when it is safe to do so. I grow catmint in my gardens, I just haven't shown it yet. Thank you for your concern about my chickens. I have video of a bear tearing apart and eating one my beloved hens if you wish to see that the carnage is real. My neighbor caught it with his phone. I was outside with my chickens in the garden and the bear came and got it anyways, they are not afraid of humans. My hens have a very large enclosed pen that they roam in yet are safe from predators. I even have to hot wire it to keep the many bears from breaking in at will. That comes with living in the mountains.
