@SwordOfGlory1 I wasn't there to see them break out of the shells. Would have loved to get that on film, would have made some great opening shots for this video.
Statistically 2 should survive, nature balances things so that all animal populations stay around the same, so if 2 survive it compensates for the parents' death.
Man I've said it before. You should be doing stuff for National Geographic or Discovery Channel. Your narration sounds so honest and your very well spoken. Great work man keep it up.
Beautiful and delicate. That's what it is. My girlfriend and I had a similar experience two years ago in Greece. On our very last morning on our day of departure back home, the eggshells broke at 6:30 am. It was so amazing seeing those small 'carreta carreta's' finding their way to the ocean. With a little help of some bystanders paving the beach sand. Shame I didn't bring my Drift by then...
I'm going to link to this on my FB page because it was awesome. If you want to raise awareness you should get in touch with some other vloggers about possibly giving the turtle rescue a shoutout. @rebelyell91, @chasein3d, @downshift83, @steelhorseclub, etc. I'm sure a lot of them would probably be happy to throw a link or a clip into one of their videos.
@halfthrottle The West Coast. I'm sure flying is not all the expensive, but I simply could not afford to move to a different country. Like I said, Someday I'll get there.
How did i miss this video. Fantastic :) Just read the email that you posted on facebook .... Evil seems to be winning there, it is disgusting how those people can get away with stopping the guy saving these wonderful creatures.
I like the video, I just need to point out something...These are not Leatherback turtles. They are Olive Ridley turtles most likely. If they were Leatherbacks they would have an incubation period of 60 days and are buried about a metre deep. The facts are other wise correct if you change it to an Olive Ridley (or whatever else is may be, eventhough I'm certain they are Olive Ridleys)
Ding ding ding! This video has been online for 3 years, and has been viewed 28,519 times. And you are the first person to notice my mistake. The owner of Tigre Salvaje pointed this out to me when I showed him the video, but it was too late to change it.
+Carly Lauren I don't see how him not being there at the time this video was made matters when clearly the comment above you is the person who made this video and he has confirmed it as well. Those are Baby Olive Ridley turtles. Do you're research!
Do you mind if I use a small portion of this video as a background for a website I am building? I am building the site for free as it is for a winery program that donates money to sea turtle non-profits.
@MADMARK00 Panama is very much on the good ole' boy system. And one old gringo's word against people who have been living there for years is a loosing battle.
@heloderm310 I live off less than $2000/month here. I know people doing it for around $1000/month, but I like to have fancy busted up motorcycles and such.
love it, cute little guys.. I love watching how intrinsic natures design is.. 10 seconds in and they're doing their little air gulp thing just like Maui turtles.. Amazing.. It's funny cause on Maui you can be fined 10k for touching a sea turtle so they are doing very very well here.. I guess the market needs to be taken down first.. Who's buying these eggs? Ignorance.. gawsh it's gettin old..
@AccidentalBroadcast The police here aren't good at enforcing laws. Unless they see a gringo speeding and know they can force a bribe out of him, then they are all over that.
Can't this have some serious consequences to the ecosystem if you allow all the sea turtles to get to the ocean? I get that it's cute and helpful to the turtles but it's only natural for other bigger animals to prey on them when they hatch
@Billie Joe not necessarily. Who knows when was the last time some of these predators had a decent meal, or when their next one will come. They don’t have the same luxury as most humans who have 2-3 meals a day simply by walking to the fridge, making a trip to the grocery store, or hell even have food delivered.
It is amazing how something so small can survive in the ocean on it's own.
Who were the 4 that disliked this :(
Its the cutest thing ever
İts the seagulls
The bravest babies ever I hope they had a safe journey :)
I live this video thank you turtles are my favorite animals
This was breathtaking. I love those little persevering turtles.
@arekzed Dude I had a great time making this video. The music really makes it special too. So glad you enjoyed it.
This was a powerful moving series. Keep doing what your doing. Excellent work my friend.
my favorite animal. This is the perfect video for me
@SwordOfGlory1 I wasn't there to see them break out of the shells. Would have loved to get that on film, would have made some great opening shots for this video.
Love your work man. Thank you. Love those little guys too. They've got heart.
@Itsreload I wish I could have followed them out and made sure they reached safe water, but it's just to rough. Hopefully all of them made it.
This is wonderful to see since the leatherback turtle used to be endangered. It's now classified as vulnerable, but at least it's making progress.
@rusty7two I looked at their website a bit, I'm not totally sure how submitting stuff works.
@TheAshenRider Thanks so much for spreading the word. Dave can use all the help he can get out there.
Great job filming and getting the message out
Can't help but wonder how many of them are still alive today... probably not that many :/
+StlyDutch not one probably 98% die in 1 year
get_it Damn, turtles are too vulnerable :[
yes so sad :(
I hope at least one :(
Statistically 2 should survive, nature balances things so that all animal populations stay around the same, so if 2 survive it compensates for the parents' death.
@halfthrottle Not bad, but I haven't even got that much in the bank.
I wonder how long it would take to kayak there..
Do their moms leave them?
Great video. Love the underwater shots!
don't you like it when people scare away seagulls so litlle turtles live
no
TML confirm what it’s nice
Don't you hate it when the mother bird can't feed her fluffy babies
Greek Freak fuck seagulls
It’s actually something that people shouldn’t do since it’s breaking the balance of the ecosystem.
@halfthrottle Have you ever tried submitting anything to them?
@kristc99 Yeah I was so happy when I saw the underwater footage for the first time. It turned out great.
Awesome! Great video. Cannot wait to get you to our retreat to do a video. Very good capture on film and excellent music and narration.
really like the waterproof shots!
Man I've said it before. You should be doing stuff for National Geographic or Discovery Channel. Your narration sounds so honest and your very well spoken. Great work man keep it up.
@NWAdventureRider Yeah the ocean is a scary place, and those little guys make a B line for it. Pretty amazing little creatures.

I have a few questions, how are you allowed to help the turtles Get to the ocean safely without touching them bc of the birds
That wave just throws them around. It's amazing how they survive. They don't swim too fast. I wonder if some of them drown.
@heloderm310 Where do you live? I'll bet flying to Panama costs less than you think.
@rusty7two I would love to see some of my work recognized by Nat Geo. Maybe someday it will happen.
Awesome stuff, really appreciated this vid, Dave. Too bad you're still not around Panama, but good stuff while you were there!
the survivors of this video are probably getting ready to come back on to the beach to lay their eggs
@halfthrottle
The West Coast.
I'm sure flying is not all the expensive, but I simply could not afford to move to a different country.
Like I said, Someday I'll get there.
Amazing to watch...Thanks for the vid...CRO

one small step for turtle kind, one giant leap for animal kind.
@srikrishnajay They can't all be as epic as this, but I'll try.
Fantastic video.
I would love to do something like this, if only I could afford it.
Someday!
Amazing ❤ They are so cute and I think you did an amazing job filming 😊❤
How did i miss this video. Fantastic :)
Just read the email that you posted on facebook .... Evil seems to be winning there, it is disgusting how those people can get away with stopping the guy saving these wonderful creatures.
@p0kerp1aya Thanks for watching amigo. I felt these were some of the most important videos I've ever made.
Great video. I also donated $20 from my beer fund. It seemed like the turtles needed it more than I.
@jeffkatzer The profanity came when I saw how great the underwater shots turned out. "Holy $%#@ that looks good."
@GSessories Fearless little dudes, that's for sure.
Hola
Omg they are so cute!!!😍😍😍😍

how would you know if they are "Olive Ridley" turtles?? you weren't there and he was. so back off.
+Carly Lauren I don't see how him not being there at the time this video was made matters when clearly the comment above you is the person who made this video and he has confirmed it as well. Those are Baby Olive Ridley turtles. Do you're research!
Damn.. 2011....
Turns out, in some places (Florida) that is illegal
Isn't God amazing.
I love this. How could anyone harm them?!
I know right !
You should be proud! you help sea turtles into the ocean not everyone can do that!
Do you mind if I use a small portion of this video as a background for a website I am building? I am building the site for free as it is for a winery program that donates money to sea turtle non-profits.
@dahveed284 Thanks dude, it's going to make a bid difference. Especially to Dave's morale, I'm sure it can get hard out there alone.
AWWWWW THEY WERE SOOO CUTE
@NonCorrelated Awesome, thanks for taking the time to donate. I know Dave is going to have a heart attack next time he visits an internet cafe.
Fabulous video! Wonderful camera work, music, editing...everything. I do think it needs some profanity though. (kidding)
Well done my friend.
@bakker46 Thank God for the crazy ones.
Thanks lots. :D
@halfthrottle Make more videos like this one please!
