I see so many more people addressing eco anxiety, which is so helpful to realistically confronting the climate crisis👏👏 Great points, and congrats on hitting 10K subscribers!!!

thank you for this. this stuff drives me crazy - it's so hard not to get completely nihilistic. i'd say it's overall a bad feeling to have, since it's only going to drive you to pessimism and hopelessness, but i agree that it's completely normal. like you say, the key is take that anxiety and let it drive you to action, let it empower you to make change

I genuinely am doing my masters and centering my career around getting into the top levels of businesses and doing what I can to change their actions. Translating the "you're destroying the world and killing people" to "you will lose money and need to change for your own good". It feels like the small things I do personally do absolutely nothing compared to the corporate impact and I feel like I could actually help change that. It feels like I'm running out of time to do anything of real impact because we are so far gone.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only ones who struggles with this kind of hopelessness, thank you Aime!

I tend to have a low amount eco anxiety almost all the time (but I also have constant anxiety in general) but it usually spikes a couple times a year when big events (usually negative) happen around the world. I've found it helps me stay on top of things I'm trying to make habits and leads me to talk to others about the planet and encourage them to see what changes they could easily make. When the eco anxiety really gets to me I tend to get a little nihilistic, but then I focus on the kids in my life, and wanting the planet to last for them is important to me (Enough so to get me out of a funk).

Yeah I agree, just like regular anxiety.. some is good, it helps you prepare and think ahead. Too much is debilitating and interferes with your daily, and that’s never good. Idk I don’t have answers but the more we can all get on the same page would be great. I try to buy as much as I can for life, buy used, and wear things until they’re unwearable. I have “nice” clothes I’ve had for literally 15+ years and it’s just about taking care of them. It’s easy to feel hopeless about the most powerful and harmful people doing the absolute worst things.. but I think you have to stay proactive cuz I’ve accepted I’m probably gonna die mad anyway
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Thanks for your video, it was super interesting and I totally get what you mean about eco-anxiety and hadn't previously known it was a term. I really related to the bakery experience; I worked in a petrol station that served some cook from frozen food and we had to throw food away at the end of the night. It's not as if there aren't apps that can be used to redistribute food that would otherwise be wasted, but if the manager doesn't want to bother then you as a worker are powerless! It definitely sucks to feel like you can't do anything about a situation.

I’m not sure if you ever saw the movie Deep water horizon but it shows oil workers being burned alive and being maimed and killed. I’ve had a hard time turning on the heat in winter because I feel so guilty. Eco anxiety is real.
