You should take some matching wood from your decking and make a covering across the end of the pond to hide that skimmer.only needs to be a few planks to hide the skimmer. More wood and plants is a nice touch also
Nice video. Trying to do this myself at the moment. How did you settle on the pump size? My pond is about 4sqm surface and under several deciduous trees. Any pointers appreciated
To be honest I had that pump sitting in the shed from an old water feature. If the skimmer is not the main feed of water to your filter system you do not need a large pump. My waterfall also helps to push any surface debris towards the skimmer
Leaves are not an issue for me, it's more dust and plant pollen. To make it suitable for leaves you would do away with the slotted guard or increase the gap between them
@@citacita7852 He 3D printed them. It can be annoying when you find a DIY project you want to start and someone says "I just printed these custom sized parts" , but 3D printers are becoming more accessible to home users now, so we've gotta learn to adapt. You could maybe make something similar using a hand router/trimmer or a hole saw.
Would you be willing to share the the stl for the printed parts? I have a printer but I am going to run a flexible 3/4 line down to a T in my suction line for my main pump. Let I create the suction for the skimmer
hi i made myself the same skimmer but the only thing is i didnt had the same fitting like you like that blue ones. I used hard plastic ontop and i made myself 2 rings at the bottom of the top pipe but mine keeps on jumping up and down.I had to put a 50mm pipe in the inside of the top floating pipe so that it can make a air pocket so that it can float but its jumping now PLZ can you help me so that it doesnt bounch up and down.
That was a nice demonstration using a really good design. Thanks.
Nice construction but it won't collect leaves which is what skimmers are for. The leaves will accumulate on the outside of the slots.
Is it a bilge pump or what also could you do the same thing with a black storage tub for a larger pond

What makes the top float? Is it the air trapped by the blue coloured ring?
wow excellent DIY
Looks good but does it skim leaves?
It clearly does not, watch 0.10 It's sitting just above the waterline stopping all large bits.

What is the blue circle called?

Where did you put your submersible pump again? .is it inside the pvc pipe?
What makes the top slotted part flow?
That's not a practical skimmer for the real world. How would that help with large items like leaves, grass, etc?
Diy not 3d printed lol
