Yes. Very true. I came to USA in 1971 from India. Looking for a job in down town Chattanooga, kind of lost in New country. In department store I entered in yo an elevator and a nice lady gave a smile. At that time there were hardly any immigrants like me. That one smile from a stranger made me happy and I still remember and talk about it. I do not remember the face but I still cherish that smile from a beautiful southern lady. Thank you.
Not everyone happiness lay in being open to strangers though. Why is it in America people expect you to be friendly rather than respectful and moral? That's how I'd talk to a friend. Not a stranger , I'd be nice and respectful but if theybwere to ask personal question like where am I headed or etc, why is it I would be demonized for not acting like a friend to a stranger ?

My old coworker at a juice bar was exactly like this! Such mad respect for these people. It rubbed off on me a little when we worked together, since I’ve left it takes a little more effort. It is so easy to get stuck in a mindless loop of just getting through life. But it feels much more rewarding to spread happiness like this woman did.

No one knows this but when this story came out lily got a raise and a small bonus from Starbucks. She decided to use her bonus money and buy her co-workers gifts. I know this because my mom has worked with her the past ten years. She’s also came to my house a couple of times for Holidays and she’s overall awesome
Absolutely loved this - I try to be Lily everyday, and it takes work. People ask me or wonder if I’m just naturally happy all the time. My response is that I’m intentional in how I present myself with an open heart, I challenge myself to rise above the minutia of life, and not let my light be tamped down. It’s about being intentionally positive and being present to share my light.

Rn I am at an all time low in my life. My family is in debt, the love of my life moved to Aus few months ago and while doing so broke up with me for another man. I was suppose to go as well, but knowing my family's debt I cannot leave them like this and put my apartment on mortgage to sponsor my studies and a new life there. I really want to go out and make a life in a different country, but I love my family more and knowing she is having the time of her life there has made me miserable. Tried everything, but I am consumed by her thoughts and sadness. If it wasn't for my parents I would have ended it all. Now, I came across this video and this literally made me cry. I am scared, demotivated, vulnerable, doubtful about my future, still in love with her, struggling with low self-esteem, but I know one thing, I might be all this right now, in future I shall not be. I know things are beyond my control, but one day all this shall change. I just want to make it happen, however, the thoughts of her and my time together, knowing she dumped me right before leaving, kills me every minute.

I said " Because I just railed 100mg of morphine off the urinal in the bathroom". 🙃 True talk. by the way I'm 8 years sober from opiates. 3 years sober from alcohol and all other substance. Boring sometimes yeah, but I've accomplished so much in such a short period of time, I will never look back. If you're struggling with substance abuse and don't want to quit, you won't. If you want to quit, you can do it--- I got faith in you. mad love to all my people out there fighting the good fight for a clear head. I have no idea how we got here...but I hope someone who needed to see this, does.
