I see you, an Aboriginal Australian, no more or no less Australian than me - we are both Australians, and the moment you start having parliamentary influence, special rules or dare I say it racism based on your heritage then it is a sad day for Australia. What was done in the past was terrible, but I have always seen skin color, heritage, gender and sexuality as nothing more than a part of who any person is, and I will treat every person the same no matter who they are. One person said 'No one's asked us what we want or need' and someone else asked where the billions of dollars allocated to Aboriginal affairs is going because their community hasn't seen a cent.

Each time an indigenous parliamentarian steps outside Parliament House the media makes sure we hear them. Over $30 billion per year is spent on indigenous affairs. And there is no one disputing or arguing that. Free healthcare, education and other affirmative action are already very effective for indigenous people. As someone who voted no, who knows those who voted yes. What mattered to me most was not their choice, but that it wouldn’t divide us. My sentiment remains the same in reference to this. Why be divided, when we can be one? Proud of Australia right now; with the majority. Hoping we can use this as a stepping stone forward. To set an example for a world that is currently struggling with division. May we remember that we are always stronger together… no matter what.

      There's so many reasons to vote no (as someone who voted yes). Division via race is not one of them. We're already divided by race in this country to the detriment of First Nation's peoples, if successful this voice to parliament could help those indigenous communities that desperately need it. Unfortunately, Albo has presented as with a $20 million idea and hasn't told how it will work... that's the best reason no voters have imo and a pretty valid one at that

      Have you not read the Uluṟu statement in full (26 pages) than the one A4 paper sized document that albo was telling us he “read”? He knew what he was doing and didn’t care what the division was created between people

      @rceravolojnr Рік тому +4

      @haydencantthink you are clearly not thinking logically division via race was literally the bottom line of the voice it is a special privilege given only to a select group of people based solely on there heritage that is quite literally the definition of racism hence my NO vote

    • @haydencantthink
      @haydencantthink Рік тому +1

      @@rceravolojnr The voice is to help Indigenous communities which are usually much worse off compared to non-indigenous communities. This isn't special privilege, this is just providing the support to disadvantaged communities. You're not thinking logically if you think we live in la la land where everyone has an equal opportunity

  • @mikewu2108

    It’s great to have a united Australia then a divided Australia. All Australians no matter first , second, or third on this land should be treated equal and be supported by all Australians as equals uniting as one ☝️. We can come from different backgrounds but we are united under this same land Australia. We support each other through thick and thin even though we may have differences because at the end of the day we do call each other aussies. There is only one group of people in Australia and that is aussies under the same sun , same sky, and same land. We move forward together as one group therefore no one is left behind.
