    • @Bro12393
      @Bro12393 6 років тому +14

      Gizensha Fox I'm the opposite. Multiplayer games usually lose their value when the next version comes out a year later... • @CronotheInquisitor
      @CronotheInquisitor 6 років тому +5

      I'm the same exact way as Fox! Longer form, story driven, single player experiences, anything like that, I usually buy physically. I'll play mainly that game until completion, then put it away until I go to start a new file. Also, they often come with stronger collector's editions. Primarily multiplayer experiences, or any kind of game where I'm more likely to want to jump into it for a few rounds or a short session(think Mario Kart, Smash, a multiplayer FPS, etc.), I prefer to have digitally, because the convenience of not having to find the game I want and switch it out for a couple hours tops is conducive toward that style of play.
      The market value of a game has basically no impact on whether I go digital or physical, as I rarely buy games that I plan to stop playing after a year. I do my research and purchase games that I'm going to want to come back to for years to come, so that means I don't ever sell my games. The ONLY time I sell games is when my judgement fails and I somehow buy I game that I hated, or older versions of games when superior versions come out later(remastered/revised/definitive editions, etc.), and even then, not always.

  • @Borchert97
    @Borchert97 4 роки тому +59

    The way I do it is this:
    When the game is brand new and at full price everywhere, I lean towards digital simply for the convenience factor.
    If it's an older game that's oddly still full price on the eShop but like half the price on Amazon, you best believe I'm buying the damn physical version, 2x the price isn't worth the convenience.

I only buy indies digitally as most of the time, they don't have the money to produce physical copies. However, I'm never buying a triple A game digitally. @DarshUK1 6 років тому +2

      LOL "borrowing"? you have the game whether its physical or digital, I don't want to start an argument because you might just prefer physical, but the information stored on your cartridge is the same as anyone else's SD card... • @Actual_Malice
      @Actual_Malice 6 років тому +7

      Sean Diamond The information in the video is completely wrong on this point. You do NOT own it either way. Whether you buy physical or digital, you only purchase a license to use the game. When you buy physical, you of course actually own the chunk of plastic. But the game inside the cartridge is still only licensed to you.
      Think about Overwatch or something. You can get yourself banned whether you bought digitally or physically. The author of a book cannot ban you from reading it after you've purchased it. Overwatch can ban you even after you purchase a physical copy. That is the easiest way to explain that you don't own it, that your use is subject to terms enforced by the other party.
      This is called a shrink-wrap notice now, terms later, chance to refund contract. You are contractually obligated to follow the TOS either way. That TOS says all sorts of stuff in it. Nintendo can revoke your right to play your physical copy of Zelda, they just need an internet connection to push that through (which is the same for digital anyway).

    • @ValentinoNicko
      @ValentinoNicko 6 років тому +3

      for those saying physical and digital are both "license" to play , what physical has to offer is that you can pass (or sell) that license to others and get the license back to you which what digital lacks.
      also for the overwatch example , banned and license are 2 different things. you can still play even you are banned. ID ban is different with license to play

Some games (the escapists for ex) I have to purchase per player even on the same console if that switch is my secondary. And I can’t share digital with my sister. They seriously need a family sharing for Nintendo games. Not that that’ll ever happen 😂

      Tamara Girodie you can share! The way to do it, you have to jump a few holes. The person who owns the game cannot play on their own account. They have to play on a secondary account. Then the person who doesn’t own it can play on the owners account. The other option if you want to play on the same account is to have the original owner offline while the secondary player is online

    Plus i like to put game cases on my shelf and see them form a collection. It feels more satisfying rather than seeing a bunch of icons on a screen, even if the latter is more convenient to start up and play your games.

      - ask for a family share (STEAM) which is cannot be played simultaneously even when they are playing a different game
      - borrow their console because Nintendo makes the ID bound to the console and not a login system like STEAM
      Family share is the most possible things to do, and it is limited with only one account can play (even for different game) and family slot is limited

You don't have to get up, look for a game and switch it out. You don't have to worry about save data when cloud saving comes out, you could lose your whole switch and still have everything be there. 2. Sometimes you can find physical games selling for cheaper on websites like eBay. Again, that’s less likely with switch games but it’s still possible
    3. I like to be able to physically hold them and show them off on a shelf or whatever because I just like what it looks like
    That being said, I do have a couple of digital games and I completely understand the appeal of them. I just tend not to buy them in that format.

    To be honest,why wouldn't you buy physical games?....
    -BENEFITS:
    They can be a lot cheaper,if you look around and take much less space .You get a very cool cover or in the case of BOTW and Splatoon a guide,map,stickers etc.
    -DISADVANTAGES:you might lose 'em or your cat can eat them i dunno,you have to swap them all time which can be annoying and someone can break them easily very....easily.
    buuuuuuuuuut.....
    Digital games:
    -BENEFITS:quick swap,buy anywhere at anytime you choose and a massive collection of indi titles.
    -DISADVANTAGES: TWO WORDS (LIMITED SPACE),if you don't want to shell out from 50-250 $ then ma boi you gots to ration that space and that ain't cool you can't even fit 5 proper AAA games there,PRICES don't change that frequently i mean pretty much the main reason for me not buying Kirby Star Allies or BOTW right away when can get them a lot cheaper.
    Also why is there an argument about this if you don't live in the US then you don't have to deal with Gamestop,shipping can be free sometimes also like i've mentioned discounts and cool bonuses like the pixel pack in Mario+Rabbids:Kingdom Battle or a coin and some stickers for Super Mario Odyssey so what do you lose this is really POINTLESS TO ARGUE ABOUT OVERALL.

    • @Minecraft101ToonLink
      @Minecraft101ToonLink 6 років тому +1

      Well, it’s hard to say for sure, I used to have a 4 GB microSD card that’s definitely not the newer XC version, and it came from my mom’s old Nokia she used to have before she switched to the iPhone 4s, and I was using the card as a means to move my screenshots and screen recordings over to my iMac.
      So, sorry if that didn’t answer your question, you’ll have to look somewhere else, as I couldn’t really tell if the speed was any better than the old one, but it is definitely better in the storage capacity from the old one. So try looking for a video that compares the Nintendo branded one compared to a generic one.

    • @cyberlocc
      @cyberlocc 6 років тому +10

      Joshua Tobin Lol. no Nintendo branded is slower than a Samsung and costs 2x as much lol. Even the card that is in the Switch is garbage, (cant replace that sadly). Heres a tip, only 3 companies make those things. Samsung, Micron, and Hynix, Everyone else, EVERYONE ELSE, buys from those 3, and rebrands it. All the inners are made by one of those 3. Of which Samsung is King (for SD cards, for other ram/memory types it varies). Buy a Samsung card, you wont find faster. The Nintendo card, is a slower version than the newest Samsung's, re branded, Nintendo labeled and price doubled for fools.

    I’m stunned publishers even give a physical option at all. It’s added production cost, they gotta store/ship it, they gotta insure and forecast the inventory, they gotta buy the packaging/discs/carts… and then the gamer thanks them by selling it 2nd hand where MS/Sony/nintendo/the studio sees ZERO profit, or they hand it to 4 different friends/family who would have bought digital licenses.
    So yeah, the physical days are clearly numbered and have been. Eventually *even the console itself* will be digital, you’ll just be connecting to some rack mounted server in a data center collocated close to you, and all you’ll need is the smart TV with the client, broadband, and the bluetooth controller.

    I prefer physical copyies and with me and my little brother both owning a switch it lets us play each others games. Our rule is whoever owns it gets say so of whe n they play and if there not playing it its fair game. Also to have the box and cartriage feels better the idea that I have control over it to do with it as I want. I put off getting Sonic Mania since its launch in hopes of a physical copy being released. Heck I still borrow gamecube games off friends of mine that I missed playing as a kid and I barrow switch games too. As for convience I still have to leave my house any way because I refuse to add my debt to my eshop because going to a store is my way of helping control how much money I spent or I would just impulse buy everything I slightly want and I would have to hitchhike to college.

    I'm just in the middle ground of it all. Both versions have their pros, and they also have their cons. It all just comes down to conviniency for the game in question that you're deciding on the version for, and whether or not it's better for said game to be a physical copy or digital download.
    Personally, I prefer multiplayer games (Smash Ultimate, Pokken, ARMS, etc.) to be digital because you'd be primarily using them as a host platform for multiple people. And single player games (BotW, SM Odyssey, Let's Go, etc.) are better as physical because you'd only ever be playing through the game's story on your own so you can decide which game you're feeling like playing by deciding to have that game's cartridge on hand more than other games. But again, that's just my opinion. 👌

      longevity, until the unexpected natural disaster hits and ruins your games permanently.
      Unlikely? Probably, but anything could happen. I feel much safer having it all linked to my account. I think it's better for longevity because by the time the online store shuts down, the console will probably be super easy to hack/mod which would allow you to download anything again anyways that you might not be able to access legitimately anymore.
