She came to Davenport Iowa in 2013 I believe it was, and I had the privilege of going on her with my friend and we ended up meeting the lady who is in charge of all the purchasing for the ship. It's an administrative vessel whose main purpose is inspections and coordinating repair and construction operations all along the river. You can't really do that from an office suite in Memphis. It also responds to natural disasters. After Hurricane Katrina, the Mississippi V was the command center for all the Corps relief efforts in the region, until land based assets could be brought in to help. So, it actually is a very important vessel for our nation to keep in our inland waterway fleet.

Which has saved huge areas of farmland and various cities over the years. No commercial tow boat is built like that. So no.
