  • For the last hunt of the season I took both the CTX 3030 & Manticore to a site that once had 8 homes from the mid 1800's to the 1930's. The CTX would struggle at times in this sites heavy trash, I got the Manticore with this place in mind. After 4 months with the Manticore I'm very impressed with it's ability to find targets that were missed in previous hunts at this location.
I'll be putting videos out over summer from previous footage but, with the woods thickening and fields being worked, I'm packing it in for the season.
Thank you to all the subscribers and supporter!

I really wish Minelab would put the CTX 3030 into the lightweight Manticore body. With modern technology, I’m pretty sure they could pull it off. And probably improve on the design. That 2-number target ID is incredible. My E-trac has pulled so many deep silvers I’ve lost count, and I can usually call the coin. It’s not that difficult to tell the difference (TID# and audio tone) between a clad dime, silver Rosie, merc, barber - and a deep nail. It’s such a good setup I’m disappointed Minelab has moved away from it.

There’s a new machine coming to bridge the gap between the midrange manticore and the discontinued Etrac and the aged CTX3030

Cool video thanks, I always wanted to try a CTX, I've had a Manticore for a year now and enjoy it.. a friend wants to trade me his CTX plus a few extra's.. I think I'll stick with my Manticore

You can tell by the sound it was trash. The CTX had found 90 percent of my silver coins.

I used to metal detect all the time, I had a minelab and it was awful, the slow recovery along with Iron made my 11" coil useless. What detector is best today for mineralized soil here in NC? I still have my T2

I lived in NC for 10 years, is your soil red clay? If so, pulse machine's work better.

I showed both the CTX and Manticore VDI for each target, what are you talking about? I don't think you watched the video, just thumbs down it and complained.

Wow I was expecting the two machines to be a lot different the way people talk about ctx3030. I’ve got a manticore also and can be frustrating at times but overall I like it. Do you ever use AT trashy? ATHC falses a lot on square nails. I hunt farm fields with old home sites that are gone. Only thing left are square nails and they sound great most of the time.

    • @MetalDiggr
      @MetalDiggr  Рік тому

I've never used "trashy", I've tried all the different setting but seem to always go back to ATHC. I've learned to drop the ferrous limit down around 75. I touched on that at the end of this video when I when over the settings, you can see where I dropped the limit down. This reduces the falsing out but leaves a machine sensitive to high conductors.

@@MetalDiggr after watching your video I set mine up like yours. In my test garden I have buried 11 coins with square nails in different configurations. With your upper limits where it comes down further, it wouldn’t hit the coins as much. I’m still trying to tweak it some. I think it did let me know better that it wasn’t a good signal. I was using nox 800 and I could tell most of the time it was nail. I’m still getting used to manticore.

@@brokenarrowoutdoors2467 The Manticore's learning curve is steeper, it was a little tough at first but you'll get up to speed and like it. If you're missing things with that limit pulled down bump it up higher. You want to just take some of the "bite" out of those old square nails. I try to keep the limits as far from the non-ferrous line as much as possible.

@@TheAmerican101 I’m not sure about the CTx but a buried a silver dime at 14” and only way I can hit is on ATHC sensitivity at 30 and recovery at 3. If I run that around nails there is no way I’d pick it out. The manticore is better than my nox 800 I’ve went back to places I’ve pounded with the nox and found a lot more coins. Most of the time coin was on its edge. I really like the manticore but still learning the machine. The update has helped a lot with iron falsing.

Great video, love the target numbers on the bottom.
Wife and I both run CTX 3030s. Is the manticore worth buying as an upgrade? Or should we wait and hope for a new CTX 3030?

I'm surprised this question isn't answered.
I have the manticore, & wonder if the CTX 3030 isn't still the better machine.
When side by side, it seems Manticore has You digging for trash the CTX told You not to bother with.

I don't seem to be getting notifications here... just saw this. I have a CTX, Manticore and Deus 2... I use the D2 all the time. The CTX has the depth of the M'core but lacks the separation. I found it to be slow at processing a target but it works great in fields or somewhere that's not super-trashy. If you're in parks or someplace with a lot of stuff in the ground the M'core will separate better.

I own both machines as well, I think I like how the ctx numbers are tighter on targets better. Manticore the numbers go to high on targets( really talking about gold rings).
    Thanks for doing a comparison
