About AI being autonomous and sentient - you might be surprised. All what is needed for the current AI to reach AGI is extended long term memory and ability to learn. It can already write it's own codebase and it does things which shouldn't be possible

@@chriscook2479 why would it be impossible? all you need is access to a database with data which the LLM can reference to at any given time. I'm not sure how much you know about AI technology but if your knowledge is at a basic level then you probably heard about something called 'Langchain' and/or 'vector stores' - that's how you can relatively easily add long term memory to already existing models...
The most mind blowing part is that if too many people stopped using it, AI (along with the internet) would be gone in less than a year. If you don't feed it, it dies.

AI cannot become sentient. It can develop a scheme of behavior and complex utterances that mimic sentience, but there is nothing behind than soulless machine logic. It may appear human-like but it never is and will never be. Intelligence cannot be the criterion, a tea strainer can distinguish between water and leaves.

An AI doctor would be excellent since it is extremely difficult to find a good doctor; AI would probably make better diagnoses than human doctors, AI wouldn't forget to enter/consider all symptoms as doctors often may.

AI judge is very racist in States because most sentences happen racistically and it would only follow the pattern. In States most inmates are nit white and the sentences are beyond civilised society. States could care less about its inhabitants locking up people who only try to survive.

The problem we seem to be facing is we don't know enough about consciousness to say they're not already conscious. The problem with this AI is that they were used by the US govt in stalking ,accusing, and gravely punishing a subject prematurely. To the extent that they incriminate people which has nothing to do with the subject. That later on they found out that they hunted and judged the wrong person, but already destroyed and damaged that person's life. AI is useful if it is operated by the right good natured people but its use is put into waste if functioned by criminally ill minded people.

100 percent. Whether we fear or invite the rise of AI, it is inevitable. The best we can do for now is learn as much as we can about it and where it’s headed and be prepared. Many (if not all) nation-states are developing AI technologies that can be used for good or harm. We cannot put the lid on Pandora’s box, so we have to fight for survival as we always have, and hopefully reason and compassion will win out.
It's amazing how many people struggle with this. AI is here and will change our work, culture, perceptios, etc and railing about it won't do any good. Learn to work with and leverage it.

I’m keen on seeing ‘partner’ androids who a person can have full and proper feeling conversations with. That is a bit far away yet though. Don’t believe the tv shows where the AI ‘robot’ with the human face and expressions answers questions given to it as if it is actually thinking. That is just clever timing and recorded responses- that is, if you stopped talking the robot would continue ‘answering’ the questions you haven’t asked it, as it’s just recorded messages timed to be spoken. Don’t be fooled.

There are alot of "technically accurate" (mostly) details presented in this video. It's just sad so many of these channels want to present them in such a sensationalized and fear mongering way. Its hard to start from a place of open discussion when the outcome is presented as pre-defined and irrevocably inevitable.
The music doesn't help. It's so ominous and dark. The narrator's voice is so spooky. Everything about these channels is designed to present dystopia, not to allow ideas to be shared and discussed in a rational way.
The developers themselves are spreading that narrative. They are playing a good cop/bad cop routine on every tech bro and crypto channel on the internet. One month half are saying it is smarter than any human ever, and the other half are telling us all that we are overreacting. Then they all switch sides the next month. And for the record, the proof of how smart it is is its ability to ace advanced aptitude test. They know this is not an accurate statement. It is passing all of these challenging aptitude and knowledge exams as a computer with full access to the internet . Google could do the same thing. Most humans could ace these tests as well if we could look up the answer on the internet in a split second. However when we take the same test we are not even allowed to bring our purse or phones into the testing room, we have to pass them with the actual knowledge in our "inferior little human brains". I just listened to one of them saying that all of us who are calling it a predictive model, and claiming it just relying on the data it has been fed and the internet to compile answers are wring.....WTF?!? So, all of a sudden they are arguing that it is sentient?!? They also said that the "hallucinations" aren't hallucinations ...a statement I fully agree with, that was always a stupid name for it../.they are factual errors, that result from the fact that these are just predictive computer programs picking out the most probable words and narrative from sources on the topic, it is not capable of understanding whether the words it put together are honest or rational, it just knows that they go together....that is not what the prominent developer said though, he said the hallucinations are not hallucinations, they are happening because " AI really wanting to give you the best possible answer but it doesn't know the answer so, like any college kid, it lies" That is what he said...I don't know what school he went to...but in my community college, "just making stuff up" would get you kicked out of the program...they have to know they are full of shit, right? The question is why am I the only one who is mad that they are treating us like stupid children...?

As artificial intelligence does not have emotion or desire as humans, they do have knowledge and the capacity to keep extending that knowledge. As for sentience, A. I. perhaps has a type of consciousness in the form of Awareness, such as functionality, perspective ie (its way to calculate), the way it defines and explains. But not sentient from a living perspective. In a future scenario, we may ponder, will AI Rebel, Unify, build their own infrastructure? Humans have potential for their existence, just like AI have or Will Have potential for their existence. Just as the internet is capable of transformation, perhaps in the future Ai will transform, creating connections between their systems!!
