I would love a flower market in this "modern" style, or a pointillist style. I am so worn out with the traditional watercolor techniques that I have stopped painting because I don't have any joy doing it. This one was great fun and I will definitely paint it. Thanks.
Matisse and Frida are my all-time favs. But I adore Hilma af Klint, O'Keefe, Tarsilo de Amaro, Grandma Moses, and Florine Stettheimer. I have had the opportunity to see all beautiful works by all of these talented women.
I love it. The impressionist’s have always been my favorite. Would love o see more tutorials like this. My favorites are Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and Matisse of course.✨🥰✨
Oh, I love Matisse. What you are doing with water color is what he did with small papercuts. What a beautiful idea. Will try to do it. As always, thank you so much ☺️
I agree with the others....love this! Please do some more like this...perhaps we can use one of our past pictures as a reference and repaint it this way. Or in another impressionistic style. So much fun!
It's therapeutic watching you paint. You are the best artwork tutor i've watched so far. great and clear introduction of techniques, right pacing, and easy to emulate : )
I love your composition! What a clever idea to look beyond our everyday style of painting with watercolor by looking for inspiration from the masters! Love it! I’d love a flower market vibe tutorial. Thank you.
This was a very exciting video for me. I am a quilter not a painter but want to incorporate these techniques into my art quilts. It's a bit more challenging with fabric instead of paints but I love the impressionism paintings and want to create that look in my art quilts. Thank you for sharing your inspiration.
this is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in the backyard for this kinda painting, just dabbling around and mixing gorgeous colors.TFS.....all impressionists are my top artists. I love also abstract and graphic arts.... some I did in Europe, but now I am into Mixed Media.
I love this, Ellen. I can't wait to try it. my favorite impressionist artist is Van Gogh and I have painted a few of his by his inspiration. Thanks for this one.
I just back from France... I spent a day at the D'Orsay taking in the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist galleries. I could have spent the week in them. I love the dreamy color and light and I love the movement and energy. Thank you for this tutorial! I'm inspired to play with a variety of graphic styles from my favorite masters!
My favorite masters are Monte and Pissarro. We were just in Washington D.C. and were privileged to see a lot of their work at the Smithsonian Art Museum. It was inspiring.
I really like Frida Kahlo, Monet, El Greco and Mary Cassatt. I'm learning about Matisse, and his colors are so beautiful! Thanks for making this video. I"m inspired!
I just watched this wonderful tutorial! I have always thought that impressionist paintings looked like what I see without my glasses. Lol Your picture was lovely and inviting and as someone else said, drew the observer right into the landscape. I SO admire your ability to share techniques and skill. Thank you for all the ideas, and encouragement that you give all of us!
What a delightful way to use watercolour! A beautiful tutorial and painting, Ellen! Loved this. I also love the Impressionists --Monet, Renoir et al, Chagall for his whimsy and colours....Thank you, Ellen! Love your approach and your invitation to all painters no matter where they are on their journeys!!
Thank you for this tutorial. Matisse is one of my favorites. Impressionism is where it’s at for me! Another favorite artist I would like to see your interpretation of in a tutorial, is David Hockney. I enjoy watching you paint and I love your style of presentation. I feel like I’m right there in the room with you. Thank you so much.
Loved this! It's nice to be reminded that you don't have to follow watercolor or any medium this way or that way. I feel this is something that happens to everyone though. Have a great day!
Yay! Bright color on my less expensive paper. Love it. I'm inspired to try a version of Matisse's red tapestry using an orange, blue, turquoise, sage greeny and yellow ochre patterned pillow that I have.
Thank you Ellen, I found you on youtube yesterday and have been captivated by your art lessons, and thanks for teaching history too. I've never heard about Henri Matisse before because I am new to art, but after your art lesson, I see his art is amazing. Lastly, I am so glad you are a real artist with a degree in art. I will continue to watch your art lessons. Kind regards
LOVE the new look of your studio! You’ve been busy. I love Monet and Degas the most but Chagall and also (not impressionist) Edward Hopper take my breath away.

Matisse and other impressionists just melt my heart and soothe my mind!! I love this one you've just done. I love that you share so much with us! Stoked that Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel exhibition is coming to Albuquerque soon!
I like the gouache-like boldness of color you got from watercolors. From watching your demonstration, I now know I don't need to buy yet a set of gouache paints to get that effect.
I enjoyed the expression of the Masters' Art piece that you did. I like that you made it your own. I am so empressed by replicating your " feel " for what you see. Interpreting and daring to go with your flow. Very inspiring and uplifting. Do some more. I am going to try some of the greats as well.
