I am so glad you did not talk yourself out of it and considering you have not competed in a while you both did excellent even the dressage was not as bad as you think don’t forget it has never been Banksy’s strong point so considering that you did a great job sticking that jump in the warm up that he took of from a big stride away but I am glad you did it and it made you happy because I was happy watching you two having fun

@@LifeontheLeftRein Sorry absolutely no idea but do still have the test sheet, "the pony club horse trials
dressage test 1984" which had 14 movements and I got nine 4's to give you an idea how bad it was, the singing would have been an attempt to calm both my nerves and the rather hot horse called Northern Lights a wonderful chesnut gelding who was my first horse after moving from ponies, I would have been about 13 and Amber was the same age as me, final score 72 penalties, good job he was machine over the jumps lol
I've had a "nice plaits" before. The only positive from the whole test. It was a dog's breakfast. But the plaits WERE good lol

As a postie myself I love how excited you were for your package 🤣 📦. Also loving the vlogs still both you and Emily have encouraged me so much to get out and about more. Since watching your vids I've been on my very first fun ride (didn't go well unfortunately) and now done 2 dressage tests being placed in both. With 25 years riding I cant belive I'm only doing my firsts bow but was never brave enough before

I was told once, and I always keep in mind, when you feel that way you described, it’s only your mind that says it’s good or bad. So change the thinking to, “Something so exciting and good is going to happen. Instead of bad things 🙃. I hope that makes sense.

My dressage comments have mostly contained the phrase "What a lovely horse, she was very excitable today and anticipating movements"
I had something similar at our Riding Club ODE on July 18th... only unlike Banksy, the horse I was riding didn't put her head down on landing and I crashed and burned, she in a panic stood on my arm very close to the elbow - queue the next few hours sitting around a local-ish A&E waiting for x-rays (nothing broken thankfully, a nasty egg sized lump and extensive bruising... and some time off work). Not gonna lie, it's left me slightly nervous about getting back on board and getting back to work (I work in an equestrian centre) but fingers crossed it'll all be ok. x

Was a bit annoyed couldn't continue on the day, got 35.5 in the dressage before "retiring", which I wasn't too terrible though lol
So appreciate you sharing your pre outing feelings. It really resonates and I am sure a lot of equestrians can relate. Certainly inpsires me to just get on and enjoy. Not put indue pressure on and get fixated on prep.
Currently watching this with a thunder storm over my house lol. Well done on ur first place. Even with the spooky B and M in the dressage he sure made up for it the next day with the double clear it was like he was saying look mum I can still do it. I spent my morning till late afternoon watching the team dressage where team GB took the bronze medal even there the horses had the odd mistake and spook. One of team USA was nearly thrown at the end when her horse spooked at the crowd clapping luckily she managed to sit right
Aaargh I'm gutted, America has limited Olympics coverage. And I may be technically an American (I got my citizenship), I am 100% British. I want to see Team GB doing amazing things. I'm gonna try and find the equestrian events online.🇬🇧

Gorgeous riding! You handled his dressage nerves well. Jumping was super! Banksy still loves it and is still fantastic at it. Big, well deserved congrats!!! Hope you rewarded your supergroom well!! Also, here's a test comment from like 7 years ago: "A 20 metre circle is 20 metres in size and circular in shape!" I have an appreciation for snark so I laughed a lot. I must have ridden a 17 metre amoeba or something! But because I found it so funny, I've remembered it and repeated it to myself over the years and I think it's had an enduring positive effect on my accuracy and tests in general!
Love your new camera! The sound is great! As is the vid quality. Glad you & Banksy got out for some fun. Sam is lovely. Glad she goes with you & Banksy. A reminder that GP dressage horses have their naughty moments on occasion in the ring. Double clear after 7 weeks....he still loves jumping. I bought the same boots a couple of months ago and I absolutely love them! They are easy on my ankles for sure plus what you pointed out. Worth every penny! Great vlog. Congrats on the red ribbon! Banks was so good, dressage included, he had a long break from a competition... I think he did great! Cross country phase looked so fun! He will always try his absolute best for you, but every day a horse can have a little hiccup and things don’t go perfectly. One thing I must say, your friend Sam is a fabulous groom, how lucky are you??? She did the most fantastic job both yesterday and today with Banksy, he looked great, what a friend she is.
We are a year ahead now and Banksy is 15 years old and you have been having lots of really good lessons with your friend Cameron, I think that in that year Banksy has grown up and progressed in his mentality and learned not to spook at little odd things. Keep on forging ahead, you are a spectacular rider and also so improved, both you and Banksy are in the big girl and boys classes now. I so look forward to seeing you go to more 3 Day Events. My best dressage comment was one from years ago. I was on lead rein and my dad almost went the wrong way. The judge just said “we are going to pretend you didn’t shout at your leader.”

I once got a thank you for not running us over in a dressage test. As I was coming up the centre line the ambulance onsite put its siren on which resulted in taking off down the line and stopping right and I mean right before the boards at C. I also once got asked to get off during a test because my horse started bucking a lot and it was deemed dangerous riding (how? I do not know. Was honestly just trying to stay on!)

I really am so proud of you hun for entering and actually going to it, even though you were so nervous and doubtful beforehand.
Ok so he didn't have a very good dressage and had some bad bits but you soldiered on to the end. The 2nd day more than made up for it though and you were both fantastic hun, so congrats on the red rosette!
Oh and very well sat btw, as you could have quite easily gone out the side door or over his head!

I know how you feel. My mare literally says no some days at home. To the point she just stands still no matter how hard I try she won't go froward. I stopped competing because I'm terrified that she will do it in a show.. I'm entering a few showjump classes at a local show next month. I'm not scared of competition I'm scared it will be my turn to go in and she will just plant herself. She has never done it at a show thankfully but I cant get rid of this fear of embarrassment :( this vlog has made me feel better. I won't know till I try again
