Almost crying... this Cinemaware's masterpiece and his amazing soundtrack made me a "pc nerd" a long, long time ago... and still I am and I remember! Thank you so much!!!!
Wow!!Bravo!!! Amazing! ... even all the doubled notes and effects, so well done! I requested this at my wedding and my father wrote and performed arrangements. Defender of the Crown was a wonderful game soundtrack.
Crusader Kings from the before times... such fond memories of this game. It has a unique charm that I don't think any other game has quite captured. The soundtrack is also utterly unique. It's this weird combination of bombastic, medieval-sounding, expressive, and epic.
Absolute amazing the interpretation on piano. It could only toped with an orchestrated version. My favourite C64 game of my childhood in the 80s, child memories come up.
What!? I'm just finding out 30+ years later about the trembling saxon maid! This cut scene must have been removed in from my pirated copy of the game. My 15 year old self weeps for the images lost!
Simply genius! It wasn't until I watched and listened to the 3rd tune with that bass line that I heard (to me) echoes of the Vince Guaraldi Trio. You performed it so brilliantly.
Just coming here months later to listen to this whole playthrough and show my appreciation! Such incredible talent playing all of this. very complicated left and right hand technique, challenging timing. I would think that the writers never intending this to be played on piano.
It sounds so fresh and vibrant ... Clever trills and ornaments ... Can anyone recommend composer / music of comparable style? It sounds pre-Bach. ... But still more sophisticated than renaissance era music ... Really, really impressive for a modern composer to create something so fresh and skilful and emulate a historical musicology from maybe 400 years ago - great to hear more of this style if people have recommendations. 🙂
One of my favourites. Thanks for all your hard work! I know the better version was on the Amiga but please add the music from the Faery Tale Adventure to your list
Brilliant! My favourites are, just like with the original SID, the intro (opening credits), "Final Victory" / Outro (they belong together for me; some see "Final Victory" and "The End" as separate pieces) and "The Tournament". I try to imagine what these pieces sound like on a harpsichord. Any chance you could get to play a harpsichord with these arrangements? ;) Or does someone know if this soundtrack has been played on such an instrument and where to get it? Anyway: it looks like it is VERY hard to play, definetly not for beginners. Love it!
A great score well interpreted! I shouldn’t have listened to it though due to emotional entanglements (my best friend loved this game so much! Then he became party leader of a fascist party :-( )
I was always a massive fan of the graphics, but this just shows how utterly important music is in video games. I loved every second of this.
Nice and you even dressed the part. All you need is a fair maiden at your side
Incredible.. most epic game score ever in my opinion!
Agreed.
Almost crying... this Cinemaware's masterpiece and his amazing soundtrack made me a "pc nerd" a long, long time ago... and still I am and I remember! Thank you so much!!!!
I loved the game and the music when I was a kid. Im 50 now, and I played the game last year and loved it again. This video made my day!
I think I am your 1000th subscriber ☺
I just checked. You are #1000! Thanks
@@RetroPianoGuy also thank you for your interesting videos!

This game soundtrack is very authentic I think. It sounds very knightly. It could adapted to a medieval knight movie. A masterpiece.
Please tell me you recorded it and posted it somewhere
Bad ass! 😀
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂video game soundtrack at the wedding means all your kids will be legendary gamers
wow youre so good play the best themes of c64 amzing how you close to the original music thank you very much
Ha, that love scene made me feel all funny inside as a kid XD. I remember all the songs!
I was alternately beaming and laughing. This is awesome. The very soundtrack of my childhood.
Love it! The Tournament has always been my favorite!

The best c64 piano piece back in the day. Great job Paul

Holy heck - I'm gobsmacked! This is FANTASTIC! Well done to you, sir!
The fact that you dressed for the part is the icing on the cake! ✌😃
What!? I'm just finding out 30+ years later about the trembling saxon maid! This cut scene must have been removed in from my pirated copy of the game. My 15 year old self weeps for the images lost!
I'd love to see you playing Iron Lord's theme too.
That would be great! I also wish for Supremacy! And you could choose to dress up like Wotok, Smine, Krart or Rorn :-)
....so funny! Well done, this brings back old memories!
Greetings from Germany!
Wow your amazing for doing this! I fell on love with trying to learn piano and grew up with C64, Amiga games... amazing!
Simply genius! It wasn't until I watched and listened to the 3rd tune with that bass line that I heard (to me) echoes of the Vince Guaraldi Trio. You performed it so brilliantly.
Always loved that game. Getting the lady in the end was the goal. Hey … i was 16 years back then 😂
incredible game too!.. the one game that i felt so much like i was participating, being there in that world decades ago!

It's absolutely, perfect!

So awesome!!!! I thought about doing a full arrangement with various instruments! You should do Aztec Challenge with synths!
I love that you play this so heavy on the keys, it's definitely in the spirit of the work.
What a lovely channel! Gears and all to perform the pieces! Very talented!
Nice blast from the past there 🙂
Heard your grand piano arrangements at Remix64 first and they're all very impressive!
To see you "in action" here is even better! Keep it up!
Long live the Amiga days. Thank you for this. It was a treat.
This is amazing, thank you. This game and especially it's soundtrack will always remain classic to me.

What a genius!! Thank you!!!
I think the only way to do this better is maybe playing it on a cembalo
Was a good game. Although you had to act fast to win which meant the game didn't last very long.
A great score well interpreted! I shouldn’t have listened to it though due to emotional entanglements (my best friend loved this game so much! Then he became party leader of a fascist party :-( )
