In my opinion, homosexuality is sin as the bible says (indirectly). Straight people do not follow sexual ethics either.
But for us who do follow it, we must not treat those who sin without dignity. But that should not stop us from warning others of the consequences of sin. And we should protest against the promotion of sin, i.e., trans people in women's sports, lbgtq counselling in schools, indoctrinating children to agenda, etc. And of course we will be hated for that.

Well there are a couple of issues with your argument. First off Jesus is very very clear that there are transgender people who are born this way as well as those made by others and by themselves for the greatness of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:12). Secondly there's the cherry picking that nobody has explained to me yet. Why is being a homosexual man a sin? (and I'm being specific about men because it seems the old testament was not meant to be read by women, more on that later). There are literally just a few lines on that while there are many much longer passages prohibiting other activities which nobody cares for today. And then there's finally the part that lost me. Which is Lot in Genesis. To him it was better to have a crowd gang rape his two daughters than let them have gay sex with "his drinking buddies". And he's the one that gets spared while his wife turns to salt. Mhhh.

I am asking this in the most respectful way possible and as a man who loves his gay brethren: If I find two men having sexual relations, should I kill them as Moses said so? I have yet to read Romans so I do not know if Paul has anything to day about this, but Moses is pretty clear in this matter. Obviously I do not agree with killing others over their sexual practices, I ask it this way because I am bothered by how everyone talking about this topic seems to gloss over this part of the scripture.

I used to be very homophobic, (if I can use that term) I justified hating queers because I was taught by my "church leaders" that they are already judged by God, because of Romans 1.!!
I was young, I didn't know any better.
Then God forsed me into situations where I had to engage with gay people over the years. As I let down my judgements I began to see that even though they were gay, I could not deny that the Word of God came out through our engagements.
(Not all, but some were Born Again. The Spirit bore witness)
It was very much like when that woman came to Jesus and asked for mercy for her daughter. He reacted harshly. "It is not right to cast the children's food unto dogs.!" Then she replied, "Yes Lord, but even the dogs can eat the crumbs that fall from the Master's table."
Then the scriptures says the strangest thing. Jesus answered and said unto her, "O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt."
This was a Cananite Woman.! A heathen dog. And yet Jesus heard the Word of God speak through her. That is why He granted her request.
He said, "Great is thy faith". (I think Jesus was caught off guard)
Now I ask you, what can I do when God forces me into a situation where I hear Him speaking to me through a Homosexual.? How can I just walk away and continue to hate them.
We don't know who is saved and who isn't. Only God knows the end of a man. I have learned to treat everyone as if they are my brothers and sisters.
I still declare what sin is, but I love the sinner. I trust God to deliver us all...
None of us want to hear the words, "Depart from me, I never knew you." 💛❤💙

@bri Hating gay people is a sin as is hating anyone. it was never fear that lead to the word homophobia, it was the violence (and with it hatred), that same sex attracted people people faced in the 1960s to today. There are people that call themselves Christians, who might be hateful to gay people, but simply repententing, turning to God and obeying God through the scriptures to repent of sexual sin (sex before marriage ["porniea" in Greek] & any sex with men and other men [The Greek word is a conjoined word "men+bed" which is an ancient Greek euphemism for sex]) is not hating Gay people, its loving God. This is not unlike hetrosexual sin, hating sin isn't hating hetrosexuals. Its identifying that internally we are corrupt and need to repent (Greek word "metanoia", new mind that leads to action).
As a christian I don't hate gay people, but God himself dictated to Moses and told him to write that "lying with a man as one lies with a woman" is an abomination (a complete distortion of God). If you are a follower of Christ, read the scriptures and love God over your own life.
Luke 14:26 (NIV) 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters-yes, even their own life-such a person cannot be my disciple.

Biblical sexual ethics are simply the sexual ethics of bronze age palestine. Much of biblical sexual ethics is completely abhorrent in a modern context. We don't marry underage girls, we don't force women to marry thier rapists, we permit women to choose their own husbands, we don't permit polygamy or livirate marriage. The truth is that modern sexual ethics are far kinder and far more compassionate and respectful of persons than biblical ones.

    • @dexterplameras3249
      @dexterplameras3249 5 місяців тому +1

I think you should read the NET version of the bible for Deut 22:28-29 if that is where you are getting your translation for "rape".
      This is the NIV version.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 (NIV) 28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.
This is the New English Translation (NET)
      Deuteronomy 22:28-29 (NET)
28 Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and takes hold of her[a] and sleeps with[b] her and they are discovered. 29 The man who has slept with her must pay her father fifty shekels of silver and she must become his wife. Because he has humiliated her, he may never divorce her as long as he lives.
The NET Biles translation notes (partial)
Deuteronomy 22:28 tn The verb תָּפַשׂ (taphas) means “to sieze, grab.” In all other examples this action is done against another person’s will, as in being captured, arrested, attacked, or grabbed with insistence (e.g. 1 Sam 23:26; 1 Kgs 13:4; 18:40; 2 Kgs 14:13; 25:6; Isa 3:6; Jer 26:8; 34:3; 37:13; 52:9; Ps 71:11; 2 Chr 25:23.) So it may be that the man is forcing himself on her, which is what leads the NIV to translate the next verb as “rape,” although it is a neutral euphemism for sexual relations. However, this is the only case where the object of תָּפַשׂ is a woman and the verb also also refers to holding or handling objects such as musical instruments, weapons, or scrolls. So it possible that it has a specialized, but otherwise unattested nuance regarding sexual or romantic relations, as is true of other expressions. Several contextual clues point away from rape and toward a consensual relationship. ....
Read the full translators notes for the full picture. Personally I think the NIV translator was wrong here and the NET is right after reading the translators notes.
The Net Bible includes translator notes which is the most valuable part of that translation, it includes the reasons why the translators choose particular words and phrases. As a famous bible translator once said, it is impossible to translate the bible without also interpreting it. 99% of the Bible is accurately translated although through a vale of another language from the original. 1% of the bible creates problems for translators becauses there are just some words that are hard to translate from one language to another. This is why people who read the bible regularly want to learn the original languages.

I would also add that the reason people married just after puberty was unlike today, the average lifespan of an ancient person was around 30 years old. This practice of marrying just after puberty continued in Western countries until the improvement of mortality rates. Its then that modern people started condemning the practice, but for our ancestors it was a matter of survival.

Very good here. Just the comment from the gentleman that he is still sexually attracted to men, I do not understand, but perhaps that is something for him to deal with by GOD's Grace, just as we each need to do in our own lives.
Certainly we need to preach the hard word to people about sin, Hell and judgment, for even Jesus said He had come to bring a Sword. Not that he wanted to set people against each other, but because He knew that some would believe, but others will not, and so the genuine Gospel will offend, because it tells us what we do not want to hear, that we are ALL SINNERS, gay and straight, Jew and Gentile, rich and poor.
But then Apostle Paul did tell us to preach the Truth in Love - that if we do anything, let it be out of love. Understand that as much as He is a GOD of Love, He is also one of Judgment and Eternal Punishment, and will pour His Wrath upon this Earth in time to come, so we have to be forceful to a certain extent, but also bear in mind that we are indeed Ambassadors for Christ.
There are some who teach that gays cannot be saved, because GOD gave them over to a reprobate mind. All this means is that GOD is not going to force someone to change, and that if we are determined to sin, we will do so, unless we choose to turn to GOD. Otherwise, that is saying that Christ was not able to die on the Cross for ALL, and yet the Bible says He did. Some of them celebrate when gay nightclubs get shot up, as then those people end up in Hell - which they do, if they never trusted Christ, but our intention should not be to be glad at calamities nor rejoice when our enemy falls, for GOD is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance. Not all do, sure, for as Jesus said, Many be Called, But few Chosen.
What we have though, is that GOD, Who will punish sin to the utmost, have given adequate Provision for Everyone, for ALL Sins for ALL Time, so the opportunity is there, that every sin is paid for, even for those who never repent and believe. All sin is odious to GOD, and there are consequences, but He is rich in mercy, in that He is prepared to forgive, if only we repent and believe.

So much to unpack here, but I’ll keep it brief.
The lists of vices commonly attributed to St Paul (1 Cor 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21, and 1 Tim 1:9-11) are replicated nearly verbatim in the early Christian text of the Didache (possibly as early as 90A.D.) and also in the Epistle of Barnabas (possibly as early as 70 A.D.). However, whereas all the other Greek terms for vices are identical, instead of “arsenokoitai” (the word translated as “homosexual” in some modern English translations) these 1st century texts use the phrase “παιδοφθορήσεις” (child corrupter). How the audience of the first century would have interpreted St Paul’s neologism is quite apparent: the word meant something involved sexual relations with a child, not the modern understanding of homosexual relations.
But arguing with a man who is part of denomination (the ICoC) that claims they figured out a unique theology in 1979 that somehow had been suppressed for nearly 2000 years is just silly. The word ἀρσενοκοίτης (transliterated arsenokoites as you stated) is a Ancient Greek compound word of ἄρσην (ársēn, “male”) + κοίτη (koite "bed"). When sex is talked about in the bible with a woman, Greek scholars, the Gold Standard Greek Lexicon (Dictionary), and pretty much every scholar that has studied Greek, have identified Bed+Woman as a euphemism for sex, not unlike the some modern slang euphemisms which talk about sex which everyone of our time knows, (e.g. if use the word "laid" I say "I laid down", it means I'm going to take a nap, but if I add the word "Get" in front of the word laid, the meaning completely changes), and so arsenokoites was originally a euphemism for men who have sex with men, and eventually became a word, and the ancient world understood the meaning clearly.
arsenokoites is not looked at positively in the scriptures.
1 Corinthians 6:9 (NIV) Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men (ἀρσενοκοίτης arsenokoites)
1 Timothy 1:9-10 (NIV) 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality (ἀρσενοκοίτης arsenokoites), for slave traders and liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.
As a 50 year old single, I struggle against sexual sin to, the Greek word for immorality "Porneia" means no sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman, but that doesn't mean I can't have joy in my life without sex. I've had plenty of opportunity to get married when I was younger, but certain abuses within my life had a lasting effect on me, but I know there is something better that awaits.
I'm also going to add the that being a hetrosexual doesn't get some one to heaven, what gets someone to heaven is making Jesus Lord of your life, and not oneselfs the Lord of their own life.

      @mbfrommb3699 Місяць тому

@@yosep3353 I'm not gay but your argument in my opinion causes some problems. First here's my issue as a straight Christian of over 3 decades. Early on as a Christian, I heard a lot of Pastors preach that everyone was made heterosexual and that only a few depraved minds chose to go against the natural order and have homosexual sex. deviants they were called. No Pastor for a long time ever acknowledged that people were made gay (attracted to the sale sex). So most of the remnant arguments and beliefs stem from these early ideas.
By saying that GOD in fact created people with same-sex attraction which heterosexual Christians say that they are born with their attraction as well, this leaves the Church in a problematic position. If GOD created people with same-sex attraction then we are no longer talking about sex alone. See Conservative Christians (of which I am one of) make homosexuality (verb) about the act of sex, not attraction or being a homosexual (noun). As a heterosexual man, I am attracted to women, which means not only do I want to have sex with a woman but I also want a life partner that is a woman, I want intimacy and wholeness with a woman. Someone to share my life with.
Before the Church said all people were heterosexuals committing homosexual sex acts. However, same-sex attraction means that there are people who want everything heterosexuals do intimacy, a life partner, and sex. Now Scripture says that sex outside of marriage is forbidden, don't have sex before marriage, don't have sex with someone else outside of your marriage but it's clear marriage is the covering GOD has given us for sexual purity, intimacy, a lifelong partner, etc. My wife isn't just a sex partner to me, she is so much more.
Yet, Christians don't apply the same sexual morality to homosexuals or same-sex attracted people, they say not only can you not engage in an intimate sexual relationship outside of marriage like Heterosexuals are told no to, you can't seek to find a person and marry them and have the same covering heterosexuals do.
So many Christians have become caught somewhere in the middle, they say that same-sex attracted people are gay, they're made that way but that they need to be celibate.
Again reducing it to a sex act. Yet basically saying "Don't ever think about falling in love, having a lifelong companion or a deep intimate connection with anyone else unless you have it with a person of the opposite sex. However, that's like telling me that I can't marry a woman but either be celebite or marry a guy. I might be able to do it, but I wouldn't be attracted to that guy. And we have a long track record of what forced celibacy in the Church has been like so good luck with that.
So what about the Bible? Christians can end up debating this and I don't have any real solid answers except that I have issues with Christians who take Scripture out of context, and ignore some obvious contextual and theological issues to force verses into a narrative.
As an example, many Pastors then and still do today preach that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of homosexuality. This is contextually and we find out latee in Jude and 2 Peter that it's not accurate at all. Jesus (links), Jude, and 2 Peter 3 quote the book of Enoch showing the Flood and Sodom were destroyed because of the fallen angels having sex with human women to create hybrid abominations. Now a lot of Christians will claim the book of Enoch is inaccurate, and unreliable, except the NT quotes and references it. Jude references it by name and quotes it directly. Now I am not saying Enoch is biblical canon but it tells us what we need to know about the flood and Sodom.
That brings us to Leviticus who Moses wrote 2600 years after Adam and Eve. Romans 1 is also a parallel passage to Leviticus 18.
Leviticus 18 has a few things we should consider. GOD speaks to Moses about the Children of Israel. And says: Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God. 3 According to [a]the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their [b]ordinances. 4 You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am the Lord your God.
So the first thing we need to look at is if the person is a child of GOD, saved by Jesus or not. If they're not then focus on the Gospel, and learn how to deal with the hypocrisy.
Christians like youself are now saying GOD creates people who are attracted to people of the opposite sex (heterosexual- noun) and people who are attracted to the same-sex (homosexual- noun). Now Christians as I have said focus on the verb (the sex act) rather than the noun, the attraction. I can't choose my attraction but I can choose not to act on it. However, for the Heterosexual Christian the message is no sex until marriage, and no sex with someone outside of your marriage. But for homosexuals the message is different, no marriage, or long term relationship ever for companionshp and no sex ever unless you find a person of the opposite sex.
Hypocrisy. As long as you have an answer for that, then it should be alright. Mentioning hypocrisy I would encourage you to read 1 Timothy 4:1-5 which tells us in the last days (which we are in) many Believers will fall away from the faith, adopt doctrines of demons and hypocrisy by forbidding marriage..." the only group I can think of that forbids marriage today is conserative Christans. Just some thoughts. Take care.

What does mean by LGBTQ and what does mean by homosexuality? He doesn't know the subject. A man or woman born as what he/she is physically but by the functions of endocrine systems they may have the opposite charectors. Nobody can change it either by counselling or by medicine. It is the truth and they cannot consider as homosexuals. As per their internal anatomy and physiology are differently arranged, it is not by him or by anyone else. It is the same God who created the man and woman in the right way . So try to understand and preach , other wise it will not truth. The things that is not true is lie and the lie is the language of Satan. American psychiatric counsil, some psychological bodies, and many other scientific bodies have conducted many experiments and have proved that these kind of people's life is not their choice but their anatomy and physiology. You are wrong. The Bible has not been rewritten incorrectly. We have thousands of copies of ancient texts of the Bible in Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, to say the least. We have more copies and older copies of the Bible than any other documents out there. While it may be challenging to put things in English that were common phrases in Greek the many translations that we do have available plus all the exegesis of the books of the Bible give us a very clear meaning of the Word of God. There are some places where the Bible is ambiguous on purpose, but sexual morality isn’t one of them. Guy is very close on this. Queer people deserve love and understanding even though a gay lifestyle is against God’s purpose. You need to educate yourself before spreading this misinformation. You should read these 5 verses from various translations and see where the differences are. Mostly they show up as word for word or phrase for phrase translations of the Bible, so the meanings are there. A good app with over 60 translations is the YouVersion Bible app. If you haven’t read it you really can’t judge it. It is the most accurate set of historical documents that we have available to us. And that’s fact, not opinion.

      @ghtly1919 Your just wrong.
First of all when translating from one language to another there are certain words that are difficult to translate because the meaning in the destination language is hard to convey because of euphemisms, idioms and sometimes there is no single word that will translate into the destination language from the original. The majority of the bible is accurately translated, a small percentage maybe 1% gives bible translators problems because it is difficult to translate. This is the reason the NET bible was created which includes translator notes presenting the choices that translators had in a particular situation.
There are around ~6000 complete manuscripts and fragments of the Greek New Testament found, along with ~10,000 Latin manuscripts and ~9000 in other languages such as Syriac, Slavic, Gothic, Ethiopic, Coptic, Nubian, Armenian from 125CE to the 15th century . Thats 25,000 copies of the New Testament that attest to each other. Any corruption found will stick out like a sore thumb because the Gospels of the bible and the letters were copied by scribes and sent around to all the Churches of the known world, each church had its own copy and made copies as their copies would eventually fade. The same methods were used to maintain copies of the Hebrew and LXX bible. So if a manuscript in Rome was different to a manuscript in Sinai or the subsequent child copies, that corruption would have been pointed out by secular scholars many decades ago and there are none.
Every time they find an older scroll it is compared to a copy of a later scroll to see if there is any "corruption". All they find is minor changes in the form of typographical errors or spelling mistakes. Nothing changes the core message or important doctrines. This is the comparison that happened when the found the Isaiah scroll. Nothing was changed.
If you every study Greek, Latin, or Hebrew you will learn these things as the professors from both secular and religious backgrounds are well versed in ancient texts.
So stop propagating hearsay. If you want to be accurate quote your sources and present actual facts.
