Oh, it's a wonderful sight. A single line, diesel (probably so, sorry if I'm wrong) and a railbus (that's what it's mainly called in Japan) - just a wonderful rural line. It's tremendously good that here there's no hustle and bustle of the city, no bothersome relationships, just a railway line between grasslands and blue skies. Greetings from Japan! Thanks for posting these great videos!
Absolutely amazing view of Bolivia's railway infrastructure, and the harsh terrain, especially the ferrobus service. Bolivia is a little known country to most Europeans, so your video gives us a good insight into their way of life, and should make us appreciate our own railway infrastructure, and living standards. Thank you for your video and the effort it took to make it.
@barringtonw2 It was my pleasure to make this video. I loved the journey and the experience. I liked your comment. This altiplano is a harsh place to live, it is true.
Wow, fantastic! I was in this area in 1994 with my father and my brother. We drove in a converted truck from Calama via Iquique, then over the mountains into Bolivia and through the Salar de Uyuni south to Laguna Colorada. Then on via Oururo to La Paz. To this day, it was one of the most incredible journeys I have ever made. What I remember most is the incredible vastness and the clear, dry air up there on the Altiplano. Even back then, we saw tracks from time to time but never a train or anything like that. Thank you for the great memories that come flooding back.
@filip5519 I am so happy to hear this. Remembering our past journeys is always so good. I was in Bolivia before and I do not remember tseeing those buses. They are a great mean of transport for locals that live in remote farms or villages on the altiplano. I loved all the on demand stops. Without that transport it would be very difficult for them to get to move around.

@palmyrafoxy6860 Thank you for your comment. Loved the logo suggestion😀. Oh, I had difficulties with short breath and sleeping on this altitude...the driver was great and none of so many animals running around the ferrobus was hurt.

@selberwoelfe Thank you. I really appreciate your comment and I am truly happy that you enjoyed in the ride so much. It was an amazing journey for me. Totally different from all the other lines that I have travelled before. I have filmed some more on Bolivian Altiplano.
The engine sounds familiar, it reminds me of my Mercedes 814 D motorhome. I guess it's a smaller engine though, not much power needed to go 40 km/h on rails.

Fabulous railway. I wish I could ride this train every day with a bottle of wine and some cheese. Bolivia should turn this into a tourist attraction. 40 km/h is perfect speed to enjoy scenery.
@tonytony1035 The ferrobus is mostly for the local community, the train leaves three times per week and connects those distant villages and farms with the rest of the world.
Incredible! A Ferrobus! I had never seen it! A Mercedes Intercooler converted into a toy train that runs across the Andean and Bolivian plateaus! Truly an incredible railway! What can we say about the Dog Race in which the train races with canine friends! And I would like to hear the song "Who let the dogs out?". Jokes aside, it's really nice to see this part of the world on the long La Paz-Arica railway, even if you start from Viacha not far from the capital. You see a country with strong poverty but also great dignity and culture. It was useful to see the video because I went to see the history of the War of the Pacific which involved the Port of Arica in 1879 and saw Chile and the Bolivia-Peru alliance opposing each other. Then Bolivia lost the war and therefore also access to the sea. Perhaps if Arica had been Bolivian, the state's economy would have been more prosperous. The thing that got me really excited was the dog run but above all the Intercooler engine which roars between one stop and another and runs straight across the plateau until it reaches Calacoto. Great video as always!
