Thank you, that was a difficult role. I had to have my spine surgically removed for the better part of a day, but I think I pulled it off. I'm auditioning next week for some fungus, and I'm trying to put my own unique spin and backstory to the role; for instance, I'm thinking he's a board gamer, and likes people to call him "Fun Gus." Anyway, we'll see if the director buys it. You never know what they want on CNN these days.

Great review as always, Cody, thanks for this, really would like to pick this up even though it's near to impossible in South Africa.
I wanted to ask though, with combat: is it always simply a superior numbers affair between armies? Towers not withstanding. Or are there modifiers through cards or player action that could allow, say, an inferior force to find victory over a larger one?
Some of the cards do allow for dirty tricks that modify combat. I hope you get a chance to play it.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer Yes. It’s that same concept but, investing instead. So the person with the most stocks in that country control what that country does. It’s longer then A War of Whispers but, still one of my top 10 games.
I so wanted to get this I backed the second it was available to back on Kickstarter. Then I found that they won’t ship to my country. Pretty disappointed. I’m well aware that shipping to new Zealand can be expensive. However not even being open to the option to ship here at my cost has soured me on the company.
So odd and you must be bummed, they are sending to Australia. Whats the dif!!!

Wow. After one play my entire group (me included) felt this was a stinker. From the random setup that can doom empires at start, to their badly designed asymmetry on the map, to the lack of meaningful decisions apart from the 3rd turn swap, to the ridiculously unbalanced "take that" cards, everything screamed poorly playtested (perhaps even rushed) game design. It felt like someone played the similar (yet vastly superior) Dogs of War and thought it needed a bunch of dudes on a map. Not sure anyone in my group would even want to give it a second play, which is something we do with games that we dislike at first.

Well, to each their own. I really love this game. Yes, there is some chance (and I love take that in games), and I suppose if this were a 2 hour + game that would bother me. As it is, this game is so quick and rich and in theme and fun all of the people I played it with really enjoyed it.
@@monomundo I would not worry to much about that. The general consensus is that it is not trying to be the game the poster above wanted it to be and that it is a good game. Everyone has their own preferences but most folks like the mechanics in this game.
