I love your videos, Mr. Hoey. As a mom of two, I look forward to the day when I have more time to play in the world of photography and create artful images. All the best.
Excellent as always. Nice work up on the individual lights and followed up with your finishing touches in Photoshop. Nobody does it better. Thanks Gavin.
Great shot and video Gavin! Always nice to see the potential of micro four thirds with good light. Kind of like the previous poster's idea of a classic glamour photo with beauty retouching. Old Hollywood George Hurrell style....
Hi Gaven, I only have 1 speedlite and wondered if you would do a tutorial on using just 1 to get the film noir effect. Love your videos, quick and clearly explained. Thank you!
Agree 100% with dunnymonster below. Fantastic inspiring ideas, presentation and details. I never tire of these amazing instructive videos. I've never seen you shoot flash shots without a light meter and I tend to rely on trial and error. They're a bit expensive for my rare forays in this genre.
Great video thanks!. Another good way to convert to black and white is to use HSL/Greyscale Tab and click Convert to B&W. This way you keep the colour information which can then be used to adjust B&W tonal values with the colour sliders.
I love the techniques Gavin uses to get the desired results-- such variety too! I learn so much and he is so inspiring. I wish he would STOP using the term "small home studio" at the beginning of every one of his videos- as if that some how delegitimizes his really cool work. The image results are awesome, no matter the size of the studio.
Nice job, the only issue I have with this is the defined circular spots of light on the phone handset. This is a dead giveaway that it's from studio lights
Hi Gavin, Wonderful tutorial. I have a question. For white balance if I want to create this look in my house under tungsten lighting what white balance do I use? Do I set the camera to flash whit balance? Custom white balance?
always great idea and super tutorial! congratulations mr. Gavin!
"Those who can, do."
Gavin is both a doer and a teacher. Thank you!

Great rhythm. I swear I saw John Belushi circa 1979 in there.
Great video thanks!. Another good way to convert to black and white is to use HSL/Greyscale Tab and click Convert to B&W. This way you keep the colour information which can then be used to adjust B&W tonal values with the colour sliders.
