Re:’s reo Māori series Ohinga has been given special access to a service held by the Rātana Movement - a Māori religious group. A young spiritual leader of the faith, Raniera Pene, says many younger Māori are still drawn to become Morehu - followers of the faith.
This story is part of Re:’s Belief Week. From young people who are celibate, to New Zealand’s first Wicca church, we take a look at what belief, religion and spirituality means today.
This is part of our reo Māori series, Ohinga, created by Mahi Tahi Media, with funding from Te Māngai Pāho and the NZ On Air Public Interest Journalism Fund.
Stay tuned for a new episode every week.

I very proud of you Brother. Go Ratanas
Only ever been one TUMUAKI for our Morehu don't recall our Mangai saying he is a TUMUAKI 2023 te Tama a te Matua Ora has always been our SHEPHERD and our Mangai was tasked to deliver the living Word/Bible to the flock/Morehu not just those baptized Ratana like the 2 whanau I met 2016 in the temepara "no were not tourists, were MOREHU from America and Japan"
The Wairuatapu simplified the "word" in mtwam hei tautoko mai ae! All the Morehu need to do is
KNOW IHOA
KNOW te TAMA whom we've been instructed to follow and example in our lives..and the lives of our whanau being MOREHU soo simple and blessed atm were taking the wide road to get yr license the rules are ezi..Ihoa luvz u.
Thank you for sharing. I was baptized in the Ratana faith by my grand Uncle.
