This is awesome thank you! I made the mistake of getting a microfreak and a circuit tracks at once... Its been a struggle to learn both with a full time job and kids... but I'm having fun. these tutorials have been most helpful.
Just got my MicroFreak a couple of weeks ago and you are officially my #1 go-to source for inspiration and ideas. Thank you so much! (And I hope Fatherhood is treating you well and your little girl is doing well!)
Thank you so much for your feedback 😊 I am honoured. And yes fatherhood ( 5th time) is great. I love it. Bit stressful ATM 😀 cause of less sleep... But it gets better... I know it.
Thank you for this excellent video! This little monster is crazy fun and can actually be a little challenging at times. For those of you thinking of buying it: Each patch has Two 64 step sequences. And then you can save the sequenced patches side by side for 256, 512 steps etc. AND will also let you add motions for insanely cool sequences. I just added the Elektron Model:Cycles as a two piece setup. I get lost for hours while my other synths sadly watch.
Late to the game here, but this video single-handedly gave me an urge to fire my MicroFreak and run the sequencer. I often play with a live looper, layering tracks upon tracks in my improvised jams, but you made me realise that the sequencer itself can more or less be used as an über-looper, one where you can edit the loop live while it is playing. I always had trouble using it live, to be frank, because of the lack of a metronome. But using a one-note Arp as a metronome is a great idea ! Thanks for sharing.
This, and the "42 Min. Arturia MicroFreak Only", videos should come in the MicroFreak box. These are priceless tips. I took me a while to figure out how you're getting the transitions at the beginning of the 42 min video. It's 16 steps but it almost sounds like it's 64 steps, or you're switching patterns, but you're clearly not. The only matrix mapping you have is LFO to cutoff. I finally figured out it's just the LFO slowly cutting the notes out and in. That's probably obvious to everyone, but it's blowing my mind right now. Haven't had this much fun playing music in a long time. I'm doubly glad I picked the MicroFreak for my first hardware synth now.
Hey Jason. I am so happy for you. The point is: I just playing around with the gear, sometimes I don't even know what I have done. Some days ago a guy in the community asks me to tell him the notes of a 16 steps sequence in one of my jams and it took me about 1 hour to pick it out of the video. So glad that you got a value out of my videos. Thank you mate.
I've had a MicroFreak for a few months, hadn't even realised there was a sequencer. I had it hooked up to my PC via USB, controlling it from Ableton instead. This is really useful - thanks - though I may have to watch it a couple of times to get all the controls down.
Your videos are always so pleasing. Thanks for the content. I have come to love this little board, when I planned on selling it early on. So glad I didn't, especially after the last update!
This instructional demo was extremely helpful to me. Thanks! I dont own a MicroFreak but was looking for a polyphonic synth to add pad sounds to my small eurorack skiff. Was looking at the Korg minilogue module which is a 4 voice chainable hybrid also but I like the versatility of this keyboard and expansive matrix options shown here. This tutorial has swayed me significantly. Much appreciated 😊🙏
@@Volcaniced I can see why. The ability to play chords is what I'm after so hoping the paraphonic option would suffice in this instance (I hope anyways).
You can delete notes while in sequence / record on mode by just tapping the hold button when the wrong note plays. Or hold it and delete larger sections... Also, if you hold done the paraphonic mode and play a chord. Single keys then play that chord...not sure if you can play multiple chords at once. Paraphonic is only four notes at a time. Wish it was polyphonic...

Excellent video, thank you for all the work you put into these. One frustration I've had is that when I live record a sequence, it seems to start the moment I hit record and not wait for me to actually start playing like it does when recording live on a volca. So while it sounds fine while I'm jamming, if I stop and start the sequencer, it doesn't usually fall neatly on the first beat of the first measure. Do you have a good work around for this?
