There’s an interesting tie in between those characters: Mr. Eko. He was originally written as a major character with a 3 season story arc. When the actor decided he didn’t want to live in Hawaii for the filming and demanded to be written out, the writers gave part of Eko’s story to Desmond, and the other part to Ben.
Absolutely sublime. Ben, IMO, is the most well rounded character of the series. He begins as an arch villain, then becomes an anti-hero, and finally "one of the good guys". He's so tragic and so beautifully played by Michael Emerson, that he manages to turn even his biggest detractors into sympathizers. A true talent. Well done! This song eerily fits his character and arc.
I think that Ben’s character had the biggest development, his character was so surprising. It’s so weird comparing him to his first appearance as Henry to Ben. He went from a “prisoner” (Henry) that no one knew what he’s up to, nobody knew that he’s actually a leader but as the plot progressed you realize who he actually was, you realize how much influence and power he had.
How much influence and power he *appeared* to have. Like, the amazing progression of Ben Linus isn't just the two layers of "starting out as a prisoner and then revealed to be powerful." Because the layers just keep going like an onion. He *appears* to have power, but the reality is that he's a lost, scared, unstable, desperate creature of a man, who only just begins to find peace within himself at the very end of the show. He's so broken and flawed that even after all of that, his journey to understanding himself is still in progress when all of the other characters have found their nirvana. There are other characters in LOST I love even more than Ben, but it's hard to find a character with a more stunning narrative, casting and performance, because you never, ever, feel like you ever get to the core of Benjamin Linus. Ever. Because even he hasn't found that core yet. He is a struggling work in progress, who does some of the most hateable, wretched things in the entire show, and yet feels so completely relatable and even loveable somehow.

Ben is my favourite character on Lost - in large part due to Michael Emerson’s subtle portrayal. He can communicate so much with a micro expression. This edit with this track gave me goosebumps - bravo!
Did you know that Michael Emerson was hired to actually play Henry Gale for 3 episodes. His acting blew the producers and writers away so much that they wrote the Ben into the story just for him.

One of the great little things that I noticed was the mirrors between Ben and Jacob. Both had parent issues - Ben saw Jacob as a replacement for his own let down of a father and wanted nothing more than to please him and have some kind of close relationship with him. However Locke was always the favoured one, the one who seemed to be genuinely special - and Ben was bitter with jealousy as a result. Ben never had his adoration returned by Jacob. Similarly Jacob wanted nothing more than to please his mother, but she always favoured MiB m

Been traveled through time and space for redemption, even getting those candidates back to the island, thru never should have left. The it's no Good or Bad, or Black and White, with Ben. Just like Jacob and MiB, you have to see the fifty shades of grey that prove, each at one time, felt the reach of fate, while sometimes mistaking it for coincidence. Helping Michael and the rest of the souls trapped on the island was Ben's last job. l believe at the time "A New Man in Charge." came to light, Ben had proven he was indeed special. To Benjamin Linus.The most misunderstood leader of the others and best #2 to keep the island safe from the likes of Charles Widmore, and compatriots.They only wanted what they could take, from the island, and cared not about what it was capable of giving!

Lost is my absolutely favourite series and in season 4 I totally fell in love with Ben (platonic of course..) I just can't describe how charismatic this person is. It's insane how charismatic an actor in a film can be (00:06) Incredible Video! You took the best music you can take at all!!!
There is nothing, NOTHING I look forward to on UA-cam more than your LOST vids, dude. And just like so many of your others, I'll be revisiting this one regularly for years to come. You sequenced the whole damn thing so brilliantly and 3:30 onwards is insanely gripping. After weaving through all the bad shit Ben has done, we arrive at his very human side. Redemption, empathy, and tragedy usually aren't things you associate with monsters and that third act of this vid shows us Ben isn't just some heartless bastard at his very core. And man, respect for the song choice, for two reasons; 1) It has a real attachment to Ben; the haunting tonality of the cover does awesome justice to his story arc, and 2) A choir piece like this would be a son of a bitch to edit with... really, really tricky... and you pulled it off with the technique of a pro, dude. That's inspiring as hell. Lastly, I have to say that this doesn't even feel like something I can watch UA-cam. It feels above UA-cam and almost like an extension of the show itself. I've said it for a while now that you make the rest of us vidders look bad... well to explain it in our native Always Sunny tongue: you're upper class and we're all fringe class.

The two of you both create simply masterful videos in my opinion (and clearly lots of others!), and they're much more than simply 'youtube videos' or 'fanvids'. I can't speak for others, but I feel that there would be much love towards a movement to have the videos from the two of you brought together in one place. Maybe on a shared vimeo page, or maybe you could even find donations for creating an original website. I think all of your videos, not just for Lost, tend to be outstanding, but in my own opinion I would see this as a Lost-specific thing. Again I obviously cannot speak for anyone but myself, but I do suspect that for many of us Lost has a really special place in our lives and minds, and these videos add something very valuable to that, to the point that I feel they are worth 'enshrining' in their own space, be it vimeo, an original website, or some other way. I don't mean to exclude - or insult by omission - other 'vidders', of which there are many excellent ones with meaningful videos, but I do feel the two of you have - though unique styles - styles that would fit together on one page so to speak. I have watched this video so many times, and it just feels right to comment. It is so cool to know that other people have even watched Lost. I live my life by some of the lessons that show has taught me, it has completely changed my outlook on life. I am 15, and idk what all my Friends like so much about shows like outer banks, when there are shows like lost. Now I suppose it is sort of old, but let me tell you it was way ahead of its time. The people who say it ended badly clearly do not understand cinematography and the meaning of the show. Something really is different about it, just the way it feels to watch it; the comfort, the attachment to the characters, the way it all unfolds, the uniqueness, and every single detail put into the making of the show. The music is the perfect cherry on top. I long to hear someone else say the same thing, theres no way I am the only one that loves this show so much. I've felt like this song (and this version of the song) would make a perfect Ben vid for a long time. I think I actually started one but never got close to finishing it which is ok because you did it perfectly. Everything from the lyric interpretation to the editing to the voiceovers is just incredible. This just captures Ben and all of his complexities so well.

The best character in Lost...Don't get me wrong - I didn't like him, he was a coward, very selfish and unsure man, but he was written and played so well that I understood why he was doing things he did...Just very complex character.
Ben linus and sam lesser from locke and key are similar... Both hated...but both terribly sorry for what they did And both struggled for the rest of their lifes making it up What makes someone special is having the heart to live through the pain of all terrible and great things you do in your life

Such an amazing insight into what made him so good and so evil all at the same time. He and John were two of the best characters in the show because of their complications. You did a great job! You should try Michael Emerson's current show. He's really amazing in that as well!
