In their afterlifes, he even seemed to be sort of divine. He was the first one to understand and he made them all see. Desmond was very important.

I loved it when he became part of the main ensemble in season 3, and I loved his story in season 6 in the flash-sideways. I know most people hate that but I genuinely thought the better part of s6 was that story and how Desmond brought everyone together. Guess he really did see them in another life ;)

When he was in cave of light with Jack he said to him they will sit next to each other on that flight, will land in LA and continue their life. He then misteriously dissapeared from the flight in flash sideways. Can't make sense of it damn it.

Great work mate! This character is one of the best things of this show. Remember his fist appearance when the hatch was opened, what an exciting ending of season 1 and opening of season 2.
I hope he lived a very happy life with Penny and his son after the finale...he out of everybody deserves it the most...and he was never a coward he's the bravest of them all...Desmond Hume❤️

HIC and the writers did an incredible job of endearing the Desmond character to the audience despite him joining the show in season 2. Not so much with Paulo and his blonde sidekick whose name I can't even remember. 😁
Gosh can this show age any better? Seriously if there was one TV show that could arguably encompass the human condition in nearly all of its entirety it would objectively be LOST.

Because the photograph I keep in my wallet for over 30 years is also so broken! I even had to stick it together with tape.
